the sound theme of this trailer MUST feature in Zimmer's soudtrack. haven't even heard shades of it in the 30s samples, would be absolutely criminal if it was written off.
Guess i have to start my own theories as well after reading this almost every day :D
Something just popped in my mind when i saw batman's face in the sewers. If he is chasing Catwoman in the sewers, not really knowing almost anything about Bane, maybe some rumors about incident on the CIA plane etc. Catwoman sets Bat up (that's for sure) and Bats just realises this, turns out and sees Bane for the first time.
Bats face just seems like that somehow, that he really isn't expecting Bane, that he's after Catwoman. I haven't read Knightfall, so i don't know does Batman know about Bane before he attacks him at the batcave?
I would have done this movie like this :D Also that would be the perfect way to catch Batman off guard, he wouldn't have time to prepare at all. AND further confusing him with "Mr. Wayne". Mental state is also critical in fights.
This was indeed the best trailer to date, calling it epic is an understatement, the soundtrack is beyond amazing, although it sounds a bit too much like Inception(great score also)...
Main notes from this trailer:
Bane knows Batman is Bruce Wayne; although they sometimes make some tweaks with the dialogue I´m positive tha Bane calls him Mr. Wayne during the first round. Infact it´s interesting to think if at that time Selina knew that information already or was caught by surprise when she heard Bane call Batman "Mr. Wayne" hence helping her turning sides...
The guy falling down the water seems indeed goold old Commissioner Gordon. Now we have a better idea of the beat up he had probably faced with no Batman to give him a hand. Gordon´s pain will certainly fuel Bruce´s rage to take back Gotham...
Gordon at 1:33... I hope he doesn't die :(
sounds like Inception...exactly what I was thinking.
The first notes when the credits are shown, the horns...looks like all of this and the "chants" thing are reserved for the trailers only, aren't they ?
to me this theme emboidies what this movie is about, the climax of Bat's quest, the conclusion, the weigh of the trilogy itself...it just SOUNDS like it...it's epic and teak-inducing like hell...and it doesn't sound like what the samples of the OST show, whatever good it sounds.
*batman turns around*
*bane walking*
Bane: Mr. Wayne*batman proceeds to punch bane*
-no effect- *bane kicks batman*
OMG I SO CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE ITS GOING TO BE AWESOME
Around 6-7 sec. Yo can see Bane punching and breaking down a wall.. Nothing really Big there I just paused on it and thought it was cool.

EVERYONE READ THIS!!!
Great find.. But in my opinion h is just a cop. Since mainly Nolan said he would not have Robin in this story its about Batman and Bruce Wayne.. And if you look at all the trailers he is out during the day as the cop and at night in the latest trailer when the Bat lifts off you can see him and the other officers staring up at the Bat and he looks like he is in awe. So all the people who have said its him in the bat they are wrong cause he was watching it lift off So all the speculation about JGL character is valid and good fun but in the long run he is just a badass cop doing more than the GPD wants him to. But regardless of the outcome of his character this movie will prevail in every way possible cant wait JULY 20th
Amen!
People are reading way, way, way too much into the whole John Blake thing. It's literally gotten out of control. I want to say this whole Blake - Robin - Azarel - Nightwing speculation BS started over at BOF -- similar to how the whole Hugo Strange - Robin Williams BS started a few months back.
I've heard nothing but crap and rumors started over the years at BOF like how that little kid in Batman Begins, who Batman flips those radar glasses to in the narrows was going to be Robin, then I heard how Anthony Michael Hall's character was "secretly" the Riddler in TDK -- because his character was just "too mysterious" to ignore and Mr. Reese was secretly black mask or Robin. I heard all that BS and speculation over and over again until it came out to be nothing more than pure garbage. JGL character is the exact same argument wrapped in the same context --- it's NOTHING!
The guy is a beat cop picking up where Gordon left off. That's it. What do you really think is going to happen, Bruce dies saving the city and JGL moves into Wayne Manor and take up the cowl the next day? Seriously? You think that's Nolan's style? That might work in the Marvel Universe but don't expect to see some cheesy out of place ending like that with Nolan. An ending with JGL as Batman would erupt speculation over "Batman Beyond" and future sequels and in no way does that "conclude" the trilogy and leave you with a feeling of "closure"...think about it.
word! I couldnt put any better my friend and to that i say simply "The Fire Rises"
We are in for a treat on July 20!
I forgot to say this but he will not be Batman or Robin but as the article says he might be Dick Grayson. I think that is a strong possibility but no tights for JGL
That shit was updated, just read it again!
I hope this bollock ends now.
Jesus, who thought Zimmer would have topped his work in TDK by THIS much?
Between this trailer and thefirerises.com, I could listen to this music for WEEKS non-stop. Good god.
I think what Nolan is doing is setting everyone up for a total surprise. Everyone keeps talking about Batman/Bruce dying, JGL becoming Batman/Azrael/Robin. I'm starting to think that none of that will happen. What if JGL is a crooked cop or out to get Gordon? Fox or Alfred dies? Also we haven't seen anything of "Miranda Tate." We are in for a treat
I'm starting to agree with this guy. We are in for a treat.
Call me dumb... but I didn't expect the "Two-Face" persona from Harvey Dent to show on TDK. The fact that I **never** got to see a trailer, pic, etc until like 2 weeks before the movie came out helped on that.
I have to say that it wouldn't surprise me if Alfred doesn't sacrifice himself for Bruce which enters anger and revenge
If you listen carefully to the 'I'm not afraid/ I'm angry' dialogue it appears to be two different people speaking.
Same person but different parts in the movie. I have noticed that a lot in the trailers and tv spots. Voices edited to match the scenes
Ya ive noticed that myself and the part where Ban says "Mr. Wayne might not be at the fight it could be after when he is talking to Bruce in the cell and they have their conversation that we have seen segments from in the trailers
My opinion now after 4 trailers + exclusive MTV footage is Catwoman learns later in the film of Batmans identity only after "two timing" Mr. Wayne. This is when the "adjustable" nature of Miss Kyle comes into play. She comes to Bruces aid in the end versus totally fucking him over from the start. or at least I'd like to think so. hAH!
What the hell is up with the fishbowl mask ? Did you see the size of Batman's head what the hell was Nolan thinking?
As a first timer in this website, I ask you.... Why your introduction must be all about trolling?
That police car crash at 1:20... that was John Blake driving. Could that be a spoiler?
If its approved as part of the trailer by the director, producer, etc. its highly unlikely to be meant as a spoiler...
Then does he survive?
I don't know... I'll tell you after 07/20 :P
am i really the only one that realised the film will most likely feature Bane's connection with the league of shadows, it's not that Ra's and Bane are the same person, it's that Bane works for the league of shadows (he does in the comics), that would also explain the young Ra's and Talia appearance
I believe the broken cowls are from Batman Begins and that Bane discovers them when he first enters the cave.
Anyone that things JGL wears the Batman costume in the film is mentally handicapped
Hey I just came up with a theory do you think the scene with JLG talking to the kid is after batman is assume to be dead at the end of the movie.
Well I think we have a working theory on the how and why Gordon ends up in the hospital (See this Trailer and Teaser)
When JLG says "I don't know" you can tell by his expression that he really knows what's up. I believe he tries to become the hero for the sake of Gotham
My theory is that JGL does take Batman's mantel when he's gone. In the previous trailer he asks Selina if they killed him? Referring to Bruce, who he may or may not know is Batman. When the kid asks him if he thinks he's coming back I think he feels an obligation to become the Batman. Before turning to face Bane he looks scared and uncertain. Also, as Bane walks with the broken cowl he looks kind of dissatisfied. Because maybe it's not Mr. Wayne at all, but Mr. Blake he's been fighting. When he catches his fist he looks confident, but when they meet in the street and he catches it again he looks surprised. Just a long drawn out thought.
In the fight in the sewer, Bane catches a right hand puch with his left hand. In the daylight fight at city hall, Bane cacthes a left hook with his gauntlet covered right hand.
Bane may be instigating the poor people of Gotham to stand up against the wealthy (Bruce Wayne), causing riots and disorders...
His words: "I'm Gotham's reckoning!" - "This is the instrument of your liberation!"
His clothes: "Bane was meant to look like a cross between a dictator and a
revolutionary....I designed the coat myself - it took a year. We took
inspiration from a Swedish army jacket and a French Revolution frock
coat and amalgamated the two." Lindy Hemming (Costume Designer)
Chris Nolan's comment about A Tale Of Two Cities (which is about the French Revolution) being a great influence on the film.
John Blake may possibly play a role similar to Ellen Yindel from The Dark Knight Returns:
Ellen Yindel, James Gordon's successor as Commissioner. A captain in the Gotham City Police Department,
she starts off as Batman's fiercest critic, but doubts herself after
the Joker debacle (part 3, see plot above) and comes to terms with his
involvement, realizing that he is 'too big' for her to judge. (Wikipedia)
This is very likely seeing how in the first trailer, an officer remarks when talking about Gordon: "The Mayor's gonna dump him... He's a war hero, now is peace time!"
Just some thoughts, any ideas?
@ 1:33 I hate to say it but this looks like Gordon to me.... I flipped the screenshot 90degrees left so you can see him... You guys tell me... (Although I think somebody mentioned that before)
Yeah if, in fact, its Gordon then... that's quite a nasty fall from the looks of it...
I don't want Gordon to die, but if that's what Nolan decided would fuel Bruce's anger and convince him to become Batman again, that's ok with me.
Absolutely I noticed that when I was listening too
Watching carefully some scenes, it is possible to see that in some ocasions the man behind the cowl is not C. Bale... We can see that on the Bat Pod scene, also in the flashes in the dark sewer... It seems a lot like JGL... But on other scenes clearly C. Bale is the man behind de cowl: the fight with Bane in the sewer (or Bat Cave?), when ridding The Bat (JGL is with all the cops, watching him lifting off). So, I'm kinda confused here... Maybe somewhere in this movie JGL takes the cowl to impress Bane (who thought that Bruce Wayne/Batman was locked out for good)? I mean, everyone rides a Bat Pod. Even Selina :). I just can't believe that in the end Batman will be another guy other than Bruce. Bruce is the one who really has a motive to be Batman. The one who has a motive to be angry. To have a motive to scare all his enemies with this dark figure... But I guess that somewhere in the middle, Bruce will not be the only one wearing the cowl... And no, I don't believe that he's going to die. Too obvious.
Good grief. Enough with the JGL is Batman stuff. If JGL were playing Batman at any point in the movie, it would've leaked out by now. I think the fans are so fixated on wanting to see Azrael or some version of him that they're seeing things that aren't there.
Nothing leaks from Nolan work. Nothing. So it is possible that everything can happen in his "Nolanverse", in a realistic way. Everything except being obvious.
I still think you guys are just seeing what you want to see.
Could not agree more. I'm just taking down all the usernames of people spreading this JGL crap and I'm going to personally laugh in their face when it comes out to be true that he's nothing more than a beat cop.
Purely ridiculous and preposterous statements.
This movie is gonna suck arse! The Dark Knight, the one before was so poorly made and so unbelievable. And Chris Nolan is all about realism?! PFFT. If Batman is a vampire, why doesn't he just transform into a bat instead of just dressing up as one. And clowns are supposed to be scary, the Joker was NOT scary. And that Harvey Dent guy, why was half his body burnt?? He fell on the ground, surely he would have just burnt his arm or something but half his freaking body got set alight. And why are they using Hanibal Lecter in this one? Recycled, much? I'm so over the 'Silence of the Lambs' movies. X-Men were he best "superhero" movies, at least that blue chick transformed, she didn't just play dress-ups!
I don't think anyone says that Batman is a vampire
Words can't even explain how dumb this comment is..batmAn isn't a vampire.
Try watching the movie before you comment on it. Batman isn't a vampire. You'd know that if you saw the movie. My guess is you're just a Marvel troll.
wtf is 'Marvel?' And I ain't no troll, clearly just stating my opinion on this weird fucking movie which I am entitled to do!
How do you manage to be so unwelcome so quickly?
Too bad you didn't actually watch the movie. Either that or you didn't pay attention. How could you come away thinking Batman was a vampire? That's why I think you're a troll. Only a troll would bash a movie he didn't watch.
HE DRESSES UP AS A FUCKING BAT!!!!!!!!1 He uses some parachute bullshit thing to fly. Der. Enough said.
Not enough said. Please continue. You're only making a bigger fool of yourself.
Hmmm... Sorry, you're just a regular troll.
How do you flag this comment for idiocy? <.< | >.>
I think ALL OF YOU ARE THE IDIOTS for worshiping Nolan when all he has done is rehashed an iconic film villain such as Hanibal Lecter and all the while, managing to shit on those great film (seen one time too many) by pitting him against a fucking va,pire in some absurdly fantastical stupid ass fantasy romp that no doubr will go to earn big bucks ALL BECAUSE Heath Ledger won an oscar for portraying a fucking clown. Puh-lease! The whole scary clown shit has been done so many times (again - recycled). Stephen King's 'It' anyone? Which was IMHO infinitely better and scary
And that whole Harvey Dent getting burnt bullshit was IMO an unecessary side story which made the film drag on. We had a "scary" clown who had no character development or even a back story just going mental and some lawyer guy getting burnt. That's all the movie was. And this is to be taken as art? BITCH PLEASE
It is if you actually pay attention to what the movie was trying to say. But I'm guessing you only look at the surface. Here's a clue. The war on terror, Iraq, Bin Laden, FISA. Only a simpleton would miss the point of the movie.
thats like telling an artist who painted the mona lisa thats its bull**** Nolan took all his time, read almost every comic on batman, darfted wrote the scrip thinking of so many ways how the story would go or how would it end or begin also goyer was apart of it too, they both wanted to do a batman movie cause they had that ideal that passion to create a hero thats just like us from a famous comic that bob kane created has been there for years and years, nolan wanted to bring it to life show everyone that this is my passion the art film bringing a hero to life. Its very rare to get a director to love a comic book hero love it so much envision it real to go deep into the story make it almost real. Rise my ass if you think its so awful batman movies that nolan makes try getting 250 million dollars from a studio to give you a greenlight with a scrip and make your movie own batman the way you want it since you seem to know what movie art is.
So because he wears a mask, Bane is Hannibal Lecter? Besides the mask, I see nothing in common. Stop wasting your time, troll.
Big... don't waste your time... he's obviously brain damaged or something...
your punishment must be more severe
The only person who is obssessed with Nolan here is... you. We're just appreciators of good movies... it's a matter of good taste in films. Some people doesn't have good taste, nothing wrong about it... it's not a crime! But you'll get over it some day. Now you can go away.
you obviously need serious mental help. Why post complete shit on this site just cause your tiny little brain cant comprehend the meaning of these movies doesnt mean you can rage. I bet this movie will blow every one away because of its awesomeness and u will be left there thinking its about a vampire and Hannibal lector with that troll brain of yours cause your the idiot here buddy thats why your called a troll and u fail at what you do because your shitty opinion is the delusional ramblings of a retarded ape good luck with life being a mentally challenged freak
HOW FUCKING DARE YOU
bruce may die but batman will live
That's what they want you to think...
"The Legend Ends"
"A Fire Will Rise"
"The Epic CONCLUSION"
On second thought you won't know until July 20
I have really enjoyed all the TV spots and trailers. I don't think it has given away any spoilers BUT I do think now more than ever that Bruce Wayne/Batman dies in this movie. I would be totally shocked if it doesn't happen. I mean everything is pointing towards the fate of Batman. I think Wayne is captured before the sewer scene which after that he gives the cowl to JGL. JGL will become Batman in TDKR. I would like to get some opinions on this. Every article from comicbook.com and other websites feel that Batman will perish in TDKR. Bale saying he would do a 4th is all planned so that everyone thinks he makes it out alive. BATMAN WILL DIE!!!
That's what they want you to think...
Do you think JGL becomes Batman at any point during the movie?
Yes... I think he will.
I guess I wonder how does he train for that and at what does Bruce take it back over?
Now I have some doubts, but even if JGL doesn't take over for Bruce, I'm pretty sure Batman won't die. I just don't know for sure how else it could END. Either someone takes his place or Bruce dies and Bane WINS. The one thing we've never seen yet in a Batman movie is see the villain WIN and Bruce die. However, a main theme for this movie is redemption. I heard some people say the movie will end that Bruce defeats Bane similar to the way he does in the comics and visits his parents' grave, something he hasn't done since he didn't go to their funeral. That tells that he overcame fear and saved Gotham, but not without going through pain and suffering. I know there is far more plot we don't know of yet such as why are there characters like John Blake, Selina Kyle, Miranda Tate, and what really happened to Scarecrow and the Joker. We'll just have to wait and see...
Big spoiler: https://lh3.googleuserconte...
This is very interesting, that definitely looks like JGL is underneath the cowl.
Personally I'm interested in seeing how the whole John Blake character unfolds in the film, there's been very little detail on his character other than that he's a beat cop assigned to special duty by Gordon.
Is it possible that Blake is actually Dick Grayson/Tim Drake? The Nolan franchise has been based on realism throughout, the original origins of Grayson might not necessarily fit with this approach (it's a bit fantastical to suggest that a playboy billionaire would just adopt a kid after seeing his parents have died, even if it is someone with a similar background to Bruce Wayne). Perhaps John Blake is actually Dick Grayson, but rather than being adopted by Wayne he chose to change his name to escape from his past and then joined the police so he could fight crime that way?
I'm probably way off the boil with that, but given this image it does make me wonder just how they could possibly explain JGL's character becoming Batman at some point.
I also wonder how they could pull that off. We'll the movie was reported to be about 2 hours and 45 minutes, so this should be interesting...
Batman Beyond established that you could create a new character and have him be Batman. Bruce Wayne's cane is a possible nod to the show.
The only thing missing is his dog Ace ^_^
True, but Batman Beyond is kinda considered to be apart from the rest of the Batman universe (the one Nolan seems to be basing things on). Plus with Batman Beyond it turned out that he wasn't just some random character they created, he turned out to be Bruce Wayne's biological son (although both Terry and Wayne were unaware of this).
I've had another brainwave though. If John Blake (JGL) does become Batman for certain parts of the film then it's possible that a lot of the story is going to be loosely based on the events of the comics. By this I mean that the whole incident where Bane broke Batman's (Bruce Wayne) back , meaning Azrael (initially a police officer) had to take over as Batman for a time, in the comics could be mirrored in the film to a certain extent.
Nolan likes to take things from the comics and rework them. For example, in the comics, Batman pretends to be a cop at one point. But in TDK, we see that Gordon is the one in disguise.
yes and even in TDK there are Batman impersonators. never know, I'm just sayin' it's not all that much of a reach to have Bruce Wayne's Batman replaced either legitimately or otherwise... it's not always staying 100% to the comic origins versus being based in reality. See ref. how the Jokers origins did change in Nolans film compared to the comic version.
Sorry, but that's not JGL. Look at the crease below the lip and above the chin. JGL doesn't have it.
Exactly one month from this very moment I will be watching the final act in Nolan's Batman Trilogy.. awesome!
WOW 0.0 marvel you should be very afraid of july 20 as i am
oh ya, also bieber and gomez, the batman/rachel of canada...
