A stand-alone origin film, Joker starred Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a mentally disturbed man driven even more so by the cruelty of the world around him. He eventually becomes the Joker, leading a city-wide riot in 1980s Gotham City.
The film was directed by Todd Phillips and went on to not only gross over $1 billion dollars at the box office, but it also run major awards. Phoenix won both the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for his portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Joker went into wide release on Oct. 4, 2019.
