10 more characters we'd like to see in 'Gotham'

2. The Red Hood

Now that it has been confirmed that The Joker will indeed be a part of Gotham (you can read more about that by clicking here), and with no solid origin story for the character before he started targeting the Caped Crusader, it's hard to know what direction the series will take the Clown Prince of Crime in. The most logical option is arguably to introduce him as the Red Hood as Alan Moore did in the classic story The Killing Joke! They could simultaneously take inspiration from Scott Snyder's recent take on the Red Hood Gang, and the group of villains could easily serve as a problem for Jim Gordon and the city for a whole season or more. Who knows, they could even have the series end with a young Batman causing The Red Hood's fall into the vat which transforms him...

Irrelevant? What do you even mean by that? Irrelevant to Batman? She's a Batman villain, so no less relevant than any other. In fact she's directly linked to Joker, Batman's archenemy, so she's actually a bit more relevant than most.

Tommy Elliot, Red Hood and Falcone are the only ones on this list that make any real sense. Most of the rest are pretty crazy ideas. And the idea that Killer Croc would bring in ratings is hilarious.

I think he just meant Croc's appearance would attract viewers, not really his popularity. I think Croc could actually be used as visual shorthand for the downward spiral of the city. At least one glimpse of Croc every season, every time a little bit more of a monster; as his condition worsens, so to does the city's.

  By time we get a few years down the line for Croc to make sense, the viewers of this show will be set. There won't be any major ratings jumps or declines. People will have already decided if they like the show enough to watch it or not. The idea that a young version of Killer Croc showing up would make a bunch of people who don't watch the show decide to watch it is silly. I'd say Joker is about the only character who'd have that kind of impact.

    Well he's a very strange looking, crocodile kid, so I think it would at least interest people if he was put into the trailer. Would it bring a significant viewer boost? Doubtful, but I can see where he's coming from.

Harley always seemed like she was around 10 years younger than Joker. Maybe more. That was part of what made the relationship interesting. Joker corrupting this young woman. So if we're to assume Joker at this point in the series would be a teenager or around 20, wouldn't Harley be WAY too young to really do anything? And how would she already be a doctor at Arkham?

  Based on what was reported of that leaked script (which is probably real, based on recent announcements), Joker is definitely older than a teenager, and probably a full grown man, say mid to late 20's.

      Sadly, I could never find an actual copy of the script, only reports of it, with deatils. Rereading the page linked below, I misremembered, and Joker's age seems like it could be a little more variable (though I'm still going to say, not a teenager), but I don't think it would matter too much if Joker was a fair bit older than Batman.

I'd prefer to just see normal, not insane, Mr. Freeze. Maybe we could even see the early stages of his wife's disease, and her eventual death, leading up to his obsessive research. It could be a very emotional story if done right. We'd never be able to see whether or not he'd save his wife (after she's already frozen, and he's trying to find the cure), but it could end with the implication that he'd never stop trying, no matter how futile... followed by a few dark hints at his criminal future.

As for number 5: that definitely won't happen. Both Gotham and Arrow take place in the present day and you can't have a young Ollie co-exist with an older Ollie. Gotham takes place in a different universe. Arrow and the Flash (and possibly Constantine, but even that is doubtful) take place in the same universe, but not Gotham. It can't.

I agree. I already don't like the fact that we have a young Catwoman. In fact, young Bruce shouldn't be a regular character either. This should be a "Gotham Central" sort of thing, where the focus is on the cops. Have them feature the Wayne murder, sure. People complain that there is too little Batman, but I actually think there is too much.

I agree with all of this, except "is just going very WRONG." The isn't for me (a lot of which stems from the issues you & karenlin mentioned), but I don't want to say its "wrong."
There will be a following for this show just like there is for Arrow, AoS, & the forthcoming Flash (none of which are for me). I don't think its 'wrong' with what's being done, just not for me.

  I don't know if its the "safe road", as much as a Houdini misdirection. People are (presumably) lured in with the notion this is a Batman show. You've got the characters, the foreshadowing, & the fancy wrapper. The most interesting character in the Bat-universe, Batman, isn't in the show. The concept could be that by overwhelming the viewers with the Bat-universe, he/she won't realize the linch pin is missing.
  It'll probably turn off a section of viewers just like an new imaging of an establish character(s); Star Trek, Green Arrow, Superman, etc.

This is going to sound petty, but my favorite Batman villain is Poison Ivy. I wasn't excited about the show until I saw that she was included. Then I read that they butchered her name from Pamela Isley to Ivy Pepper. Essentially saying, the viewers are too stupid to figure out who a young Pamela Isley will become. This shouldn't bother me this much, but it does. I'm going to pass on the show.

No to Arrow and Sups (though mostly Sups), yes to everything else. I'd rather not have overpowered aliens invading the show in later seasons when Batman is introduced because otherwise it would be something like this

Joe: Steve, I got a great idea for a bank heist you see we do this, that and then this
Steve: That's great Joe, but you're forgetting one thing
Joe: What's that?
Steve: Superman
Joe: ......dammit you're right, oh well.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what must happen on a daily basis in Metropolis.

Doesn't make sense to try to cram Bane into this. He's not from Gotham nor should he be. No way will they have Ollie Queen or Clark Kent. Vickie Vale is perfect for the school newspaper. Harley could be a girl in school with Bruce who is leaning towards psychology. And they definitely should touch on the Court of Owls

Two characters that I would love to see in this show are Roman Sionis and Tommy Elliot, they can put a young Clark Kent in this show for a cameo, I remember reading a Batman Crossover with Superman about when they were young and unwittingly crossed paths after Bruce's parents were murdered and he was travelling through Smallville with Alfred.
But I would rather the show focus on Gordon and him trying to stop the growing corruption in Gotham etc, sought of go deeper and expand the world of Gotham. In my opinion the stories are there, in particular the mob side of things with Maroni and Falcone etc.

From what I know, they want to make this TV show as realistic as Nolan's movies. I don't see how they can use characters like Killer Croc fit into a real life adaptation without it looking cheesy and campy.

I like Bane but chronologically, and geographically, it doesn't make sense. As far as I know he's at least 10 years younger than Bruce Wayne so he wouldn't even be alive during this show. That and the fact he'd be on the other side of the planet anyway.

The characters that make the most sense are the realistic ones like Carmine Falcone or Roland Daggett (from B:TAS) or Ra's Al Ghul and League of Shadows.

Thomas Elliot is an obvious one. BUT, Bane has no pre-Batman ties to Gotham. Fox can't touch Clark Kent or Oliver Queen. A young Harley Quinn would be a waste, because the actual Joker, is who unlocks her craziness. How about a young Rachel Dawes? Or, NOT.
