Despite being deep in production on Superman, fans are getting a bit of information about Peacemaker season 2 from James Gunn.
Following some recent postings on his Threads account, DCU co-chair James Gunn answered a few fan questions.
One fan asked, "How is Peacemaker season 2 coming along? Will it pick up where the first season left off or will it be very different to signify that the first season isn't canon?" Gunn replied, "It essentially picks up where season 1 left off with a couple minor differences."
Another fan asked, "Will Peacemaker release before or after Superman?" Gunn replied, "After. It follows the events of Superman." How long after is now the big question. With Superman releasing on July 11, 2025, we know it will be somewhere after the mid-point of the year.
Peacemaker season 2 recently began production. The cast will include returning actors John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag St., Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos. David Denman and Sol Rodríguez have joined in unknown roles, and Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows has signed on as a member of ARGUS.
Gunn has also confirmed that season 2 is set in the new DCU and not the old DCEU. How this will be addressed, if at all, has not yet been revealed.
No firm release date has been announced for Peacemaker season 2.
