James Gunn has confirmed that production has begun in Peacemaker season 2 with a new photo of the helmet.

Gunn took to social media on Saturday to post a photo showing the back of Peacemaker's helmet and simply captioned it, "Day 1 S2."

Gunn directed five of the eight episodes of season 1 of Peacemaker, but it is unclear how many, if any, he will direct for season 2. He is currently in production on Superman, so his time will be very consumed with that project.

He has confirmed that he did write all of season 2, so even if he isn't directing, this will still very much be his project.

Returning cast for season 2 includes John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos.

Gunn has also confirmed that season 2 is set in the new DCU and not the old DCEU. How this will be addressed, if at all, has not yet been revealed.

No release date has been announced for Peacemaker season 2.
