'Shazam' wraps production, will give away toy set props to charity

May 11, 2018

Cameras began rolling in Toronto for Shazam in January, and after a five month shoot production officially wrapped today.

Shazam director David Sandberg took to Twitter to announce the news, saying "That’s a wrap on Shazam! Now onto months of post production."

That’s a wrap on Shazam! Now onto months of post production.
— David F. Sandberg (@ponysmasher) May 11, 2018

Meanwhile, Shazam star Zachary Levi took to Instagram to thank the cast and crew on all of their hard work throughout the production. As we saw from set photos, there's a scene in the movie that takes place in a toy store. Levi announced that all of the toys will be given to local non-profit charity organizations. Check out his video below:

Now Shazam will enter post-production and I don't think we'll have to wait long to see some footage. San Diego Comic-Con in July seems like the perfect place to release the first trailer. We've seen many set photos, but Comic-Con also seems like the place where we'll get the first official look at Zachary Levi as Shazam.

Shazam is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2019.

It's probably very CGI heavy. Less practical fx, more CGI edits.

They filmed that movie so fast, but it takes them 7 plus years to make a mos sequel.

im pretty certain thats because there was never originally supposed to be a MoS 2. Each character was only getting one solo film but now they seem to no longer be following the original plan/vision that was established during the Snyder era so it makes sense that they would only be just now be much more actively pursuing another superman movie.

"im pretty certain thats because there was never originally supposed to be a MoS 2. Each character was only getting one solo film but now they seem to no longer be following the original plan/vision that was established during the Snyder era "
But that doesnt make sense. How can you build a shared universe when each characters only get 1 movie? I dont know where you got thos from but i dont think thats true. They've been talking about mos 2 since 2016, but nothing really happened since.
PS: good thing you edited the Affleck thing, that was 100% wrong lol.

I said my theory on why Affleck dropped out of directing BAtman was because his story would not fit with the new direction the studio wants to go with this franchise. I think that when Snyder was put off JL, everything changed and what they wanted from the Batman character would no longer be what Affleck signed up for because I believe his run as batman was supposed to end after JL2

Wait you saw that? I deleted my original comment and made another one because I thought the first was too long. The thing about him dropping out of directing ? No I personally think this was the case for a number of reasons and I will go into more detail if you care. Anyways, what doesn't make sense about it? The only reason I can think of is a because marvel pretty much established everyone's perception of what a "cinematic universe" is. Like I said, everybody just assumed that this would be the MCU but with DC characters which I do not think was the case at all. I think their initial plan was to just have one really solid movie for each character and just those two justice league films which would be a two part story. I don't think Affleck ever planned on doing a trilogy. He is playing the oplder batman and that is basically what he signed up for. BvS, Jl, JL2, and then he would direct his own batman film. His run would end after JL2. Nobody said this. I just came to this conclusion because number of things seemed to add up and it made the most sense to me. As for Man of Steel 2, ya I remember when they said something about it back then but if i remember correctly, wasn't that after JL has finished principal photography? Or at least it was during filming. EIther way It seems to me that it was around the time Wb likely started changing their plans for this franchise

MOS sequel should cost $350-400 million(production+marketing) while this movie shouldn't cost more then $200 million. That's why.

Shazam will have that same budget. Mos had a 225m budget back in 2013, and 350m with marketing.

My guess is Comic-Con will give us an Aquaman trailer (or teaser at least) and a few character reveals for Shazam. I think it's far too early for a trailer, they don't want to do what Venom did.

I'm expecting to see both. On average, the first trailer for a DC movie comes about 1 year out (Aquaman and Shazam are the exceptions).

They´ve definetly given us enough reason to be worried. I hope this films post-prodution will be similiar to Aquamans´s. Seems to go along fine, and there is now word of massive studio meedling. So MAYBE, WB has learned their lesson, just maybe.

We got trailers for BvS, SS, and JL in July of 2014, 2015, and 2016 and they didn't start shooting until April/May. Shazam started shooting in January. They'll definitely have something ready by July.

They should re-shoot the JL scene, with Superman, and his deformed mouth, but now with Henry Cavil all shaved up. Have the kid doing the interview, be Billy Batson, and have that scene take place after Superman is brought back to life, after they defeated Steppenwolf. It could be that this particular scene (I'm referring to) is one of his big saves, and it could be where he went to, while Louis was narrating (when Superman is strolling through Metropolis in his Clark Kent/Civilian attire) at the end of JL. He rips his shirt open, changes into Superman, flys to the fire scene, saves the people, and then Billy Batson asks if they can do that interview for their podcast, then boom, Shazam starts. A way to keep the whole universe connected.

Off-topic: For all those hoping Gotham will be cancelled to be "replaced with something better," right now it looks like a choice between Gotham and Lethal Weapon, and going forward Fox appears to be betting heavily on news and sports. Is that really "something better"?

Well, take this with a pinch of salt for now but Mario-Francisco Robles claims that sources at Warner Bros.has told him that the current plan is for the Man of Steel sequel to hit theaters in 2020. If true, that would mean the movie will need to start production late this year/early 2019 so we could end up getting some news at Comic-Con in July, especially as Warner Bros. can steal the show from Marvel.
