The Rock's new movie 'Rampage' has a Justice League reference

on The Rock's new movie 'Rampage' has a Justice League reference

The Rock's new movie Rampage opened this weekend to #1 at the box office and there's a little treat for DC fans.

Batman v Superman's Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a government agent. At one point The Rock is trying to figure out which agency he works for, but Morgan plays it coy. "Sir, I work for the American people," he replies. The Rock's co-star Naomie Harris then tries to guess. "Homeland? CIA?", she then pauses and says "Justice League?"

With Rampage being a Warner Bros. movie, it's easy to see why they'd slip in a DC reference like that. Though the joke, if you want to call it that, probably would've had a more meaningful impact on audiences if Justice League was a bigger hit at the box office.

The Rock is scheduled to star in a DC movie of his own. Last week he said that he hopes his movie Black Adam is ready to start shooting sometime next year.

    Is it just me or does The Rock play the same character in every goddamn movie? I want him as Black Adam more for the action scenes, tho he's acting skills look very limited imo.

            Yes, they are completely different characters, but again to me, the way he acts in most of his movies, like the way he carries himself is the same in most of his movie's, which i think is normal. Everybody has their own style that they bring to the character.

        All you proved is that he plays different characters, but he acts the same in his movies to me, not saying that hes a bad actor,hes great. Bane doesnt really count since you cant see his face. The only movie i can think of that he's character is different from others,is in the movie ( this means way). Even in his new tv show taboo( which is awesome btw) he plays the same crazy/weird guy.

          the 3 movies inception, warrior and bronson. in those 3 he acts differently in my opinion. its atleast 3 different accents but also the way he moves/walks etc is different

    Ah the Black Adam dilemma. The rock is physically perfect for the role but he completely lacks the acting skills to pull off Black Adam. He plays the same cliche action badass number 5 in every movie.

      His character in Jumanji was a bit different than usual. He was playing a very nerdy kid in the body of a badass hero. He did pretty well, IMO. I'm not a big fan, but for moments I believed he was that nerdy boy trapped in the body of The Rock. Kinda like Billy Batson and Shazam..

        Loved that movie. But a large part of that role was essentially a satire of his usual stereotypical character. That’s actually why the casting in that movie worked so well, because it was so self-aware and was basically just an excuse to poke fun at what these actors always are by having them represent kids that are very unlike their norm. It worked awesomely, but it did sort of feel just like the Rock making fun of the Rock to me, lol

          I agree The Rock is not a great actor. He is a lot like Arnold playing themselves. But at least in Jumanji he showed to me he can do some emotion. I suppose he needs some emotion in the Black Adam movie.

            I still find him entertaining, whether he shows a lot of range or not. I don’t fault him for being attracted to a certain type of character or whatever. And who knows, this might be his first real breakout into a much deeper role, and he might nail it! I’ll reserve my judgment till after I see the film :)

            the real question we needs to be asking ourselfs is can dc/wb pull off black adam lolz. as for johnson idk. it depends on the script and direction hes given. assuming they take black adam seriously and dont turn it into a stupid fast an furious comedy i would say yes.

        Is The Rock physically capable of playing a serious, no nonsense bad@$$? Of course he is! There's footage on the internet of him like that, you can Google it. That's the part of his personality, that drives his insane work ethic. And it's presumably what caused him and Vin Diesel to not get along. If he ever ends up playing "anti-hero" Black Adam, he'll make him a balanced character, that's capable of carrying his own movie. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

    If only Batman looked like that concept art in BvS... He could've killed everyone for all I cared, made him gay, have Alfred be the dead Robin, whatever lol. That live action Batman would've been beautiful lol

            Those Batsuits are identical.
            Build-wise, they clearly decided to go for bulkier muscle rather than lean, but regardless, no one in the world complained about how Batfleck looked in BvS except for LegendInMyMind, so I’m not sure what to make of what you’re saying right now.

            First of all, I don't know where you got from that I'm talking about the batsuit. I'm talking about the overall physique of both.
            Second, while you are at it: no, those suits aren't identical. The symbol isn't, the color palette isn't and even the thickness of the material isn't so...

            PS, I also complained about what Batfleck looked like in BvS since they released the first pic so that makes two of us at least

            You're talking about the difference between a piece of concept art and a physical costume.

And all that for what is literally concept art of the exact look we already got.             The emblem is meant to harken back to TDKReturns (as is the physique a bit, too, to be honest). You know, the legendary comic this movie is largely inspired by...

            They don't, and that's the ugliest batfleck pic ever existed(but it's the haters' favorite to back up their argument). Now try comparing it with screenshots of batfleck from the movies... I know, you can't.

            That's the clearest picture there is from him. He looks just like that in the movie so I don't know what the problem is.
            Unless you wanna prove me wrong with evidence (screenshots where he looks like that concept art) I don't see why I need to prove myself to you. I've made my case with the pictures above.

            Minute angle differences? Pretty sure that symbol is or is meant to be identical.
            But that definitely is a good looking piece of art. Certainly wouldn't have minded a slimmer build like that, either, but it's not like the build in the movie was bad.

            Minor details but they make a huge difference

    😂Even though Justice League basically flopped at the box-office, it's still a nice reference. The mostly negative reception definitely hurt the DC/Justice League brand. But I think the DCAU Timmverse, was able to make the concept of the Justice League, cool to non-comic book readers.     what I find really funny is that in the DC Tv shows they actually drop a lot of Marvel references. Several times now shows like Arrow, Flash or Legends have in fact referenced Spider-Man or downright name dropped him. Elongated Man called the Thinker "Doc Ock" in the last episode of Flash.
