Paramount must really have something against Warner Bros. First they scheduled Transformers 5 on Wonder Woman's original release date, forcing Warner Bros. to push the date up. Then they wouldn't allow Henry Cavill to shave his Mission Impossible: 6 mustache for Justice League, and now they're putting another Transformers movie up against DC.

Paramount announced today that their Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee, will star John Cena and Hailee Steinfeld and open on December 21, 2018. If that date sounds familiar, it's because that's the date Warner Bros. set for Aquaman just a few months ago.

It'll be interesting to see if Warner Bros. moves the release date for Aquaman like they did for Wonder Woman. It's not a question of which will make more on the same weekend. Aquaman would beat Bumblebee. But you have to consider how much more Aquaman would make if it had the weekend to itself, and wasn't going up against another big action movie.

Why? It's such a stupid move by Paramount. Transformers didn't make as much money as the previous films did. So why release your film to compete with another blockbuster which it probably won't beat? You're basically minimizing the money made for no reason.

  That would be great and all. If the movie you had just spent 217 million dollars on hadn't underperformed and gotten destroyed by Wonder Woman. It's the same thing. DC vs Transformers and the Transformers will lose.

  I don't know why they're even bothering to continue the series. It needs a re-do with a fresh perspective from someone that actually knows what they're doing beyond just action action ACTION!

    In my eyes, the biggest problem with the series is the human element. No one goes to a Transformers film to watch humans run around like morons doing nothing but being annoying. In my eyes, they need to wait a couple of years and then move the films from earth to cybertron. Where the movie will only revolve around transformers.

To be fair, this Bumbelbee movie could be good. It has a great director in Travis Knight and will have a significantly smaller budget, which suggests it won't quite be the shit show like T4. That said, what cunts for doing that.

Interesting. I say... If Justice League is a critical success, WB HAS TO keep that release date for Aquaman. And even if it's not... they should just keep it anyway. LOL I'd rather not see anymore DC movies get bullied off of a release date.

Aquaman will be fine because:
-The fresh factor, as this summer showed us audience crave for fresh and original movies. An underwater superhero movie will do the trick. And the visuals will help think Doctor Strange times 10.
- James Wan is a very commercial director the dudes make hit movies, he knows how to deliver crowd pleasing critically praised movies dixit the conjuring franchise or Fast 7
-Transformers is not the giant it once was a Transformers movie failed to make $600M worldwide this summer. I don't think a spin off is a real threat.

yeah they pulled that with Wonder Woman and we saw how that turned out. I'd stick to the date for Aquaman if I was WB. Paramount can't be feeling that good about this transformers movie. I bet they blink

Not a fan of the Indiana Jones movies? Raiders of the Lost Ark is probably one of the best movies ever.
And why should Paramount spend money to add facial hair to Cavill on his current movie to help save money of a competitor that has reshoots for a movie already mostly filmed?

This will be an interesting face off. I'm sure the John Cena factor will help get the wrestling count. A more common DC character is going to be a plus for Aquaman.
T5 wasn't well received, but if JL is, that could have the Avengers effect that helped the second phase of the MCU. Then again, Bumblebee is probably the most popular Transformer from Bay's movies.
I know people here are going to point to Wonder Woman crushing T5. That's accurate, but Curray is not on the same level as Diana. How many non-comic book readers have been clamoring for an Aquaman movie like they were for a Wonder Woman movie?
If I were either studio, I'd stay put & roll the dice. I don't believe either movie is a sure thing, like say a movie starring one of the Trinity would.
