on Official 'Justice League' logo, synopsis, and Batmobile revealed

Last week a group of bloggers were invited to the set of Justice League in London, and today they get to talk about what they saw.

The official Justice League logo is above, and the official synopsis is below.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Batman will also have a new and improved Batmobile in the movie, which you can check out below.

Fevin Dare-a-Chi thinks the Parademons in BvS didn't have their goggles. I can see he's a man who notices every deatail in a movie.
Didn't they say JL is set months after BvS? How come Fevin thinks nick fury stayed dead longer than Superman? The heck is he on? Oh, he thinks Grant Gustin is great. That explains it all.
I don't give a shit about what you promise, or don't, Fevin.

I agree about the goggles part but he was talking about how the dirt on Superman's coffin levitated, showing that he's alive after 5 minutes of screen time, while Nick showed up an hour later in his film.

      1. AquaCthulhu Avatar
        AquaCthulhu

None of the characters in the story know he'll be back though. In fact, it wasn't a fake-death because it actually affects those characters. It leads to Batman redeeming himself and pretty much leading into the events of the next movie.
How does nick's death (it wasn't an hour) really matter to the plot of WS? He comes in to scan his eye? Oh that is so substantial! It was a death designed to make the audience think he's dead while not being of any use in propelling the plot forward, except maybe make someone feel emotional right before bombarding them with jokes.
The fake-deaths are fake to the audience in mcu while the death (there won't be any more deaths in the DC Films for sure) are meant to mean something within their world as well.

        1. Ace20xd6 Avatar
          Ace20xd6

Honestly Nick's "death" felt more like a way to show how dangerous the then mysterious bad guys were.

          1. AquaCthulhu Avatar
            AquaCthulhureplying to Ace20xd6

Killing a character just to show that stakes are high is too common and lazy. Since those bad guys didn't succeed in killing nick (Superman really dies story-wise and then resurrected) those mysterious bad guys weren't all that dangerous, were they? Which is what makes it fake and lazy.
Almost as lazy as killing off Quicksilver because Fox had a better (and more beloved) version so instead of trying to up the ante they just nip him in the bud. It was the one time they had actual competition and they backed off.

          2. Ace20xd6 Avatar
            Ace20xd6replying to AquaCthulhu

I think we all knew Nick was still alive, it's just that he had to hide. Yes Quicksilver' s death was lame. After listening to Zack in an Empire Podcast, the death of Superman was tacked on because he wanted Batman to have symmetry in the movie and because he wanted Batman to create the Justice League since to him a Justice League can't form when Supes is around.

After hearing Zack talk about why Jimmy Olsen got shot, I really don't think Zack likes or understand Superman despite what he may say.

          3. AquaCthulhu Avatar
            AquaCthulhureplying to Ace20xd6

Yeah, we all knew because it was a marvel movie.
No, because the Superman in the DC Films is the type of hero who would spring to action even when he is unsure of how his actions might get twisted in interpretation. He's the type of hero that would sacrifice himself rather than put others in danger. And in the story he has no reason to 'form the Justice League' because it's Bruce who has the premonition (which only happened when the Flash ripped open the fabric of space-time and Bruce experienced his memories from a future where the worst-case scenario is playing out).
Batman forming the Justice League lines perfectly with his character-trait of being (almost) paranoid but now it's being shown in a much more positive and hopeful way.
Zack made Superman relevant in this cynical world so yeah, he 'does' get Superman. Maybe more than most others. Superman is being built from the ground-up and people are too impatient to wait for it.

Yeah, but if you know how popular Samuel Jackson is, you know that Marvel wouldn't actually kill him off. At least with Superman, hardcore DC fans know that he will come back to life even if the death was done in MoS 3.

        1. Ace20xd6 Avatar
          Ace20xd6

Honestly Nick Fury's "death" was to show how dangerous the enemy was, while Superman's death was because Zack wanted symmetry for Bats and wanted Batman to lead the Justice League, because he can't think of a reason for the JL to form when Superman is around.

Feel free to not panic, the DCEU is keeping it´s auteur approach:
"Producer Debbie Snyder said one of the things they learned from the reaction to Batman v Superman is audiences don’t want their superheroes deconstructed. She also said the darkest part of the story has already been shown (which was the last film).

BVS was dark and gritty but that’s not Justice League, according to Affleck. He told us the film has “room for more humor. It’s not going to be – DC movies I think, by their nature are a little more – gothic, or mythic rather, excuse me, than some comic book movies are. But that movie was very dark and heavy because it was really rooted in Dark Knight Returns which is a heavy, dark book. And this is not that.”

Producers Debbie Snyder and Chuck Roven say that while each DC film is independent of one another, all the films are interconnected by bits of connective tissue. She said, ”All the films kind of fit in a timeline, but they’re independent films. You can see one and not need to see the other. They operate on their own. They all have their own tone and they deal with different characters. Yet they’re all in the same filmic universe and there is little bits of crossovers that we see. But that isn’t essential to the story.”

Do you mean the same kind of banter found in comic books?

I see this criticism on this site all the time. Each time I watch my favorite Christmas movies, I think "hey McClane. Hey Riggs, according to a website you can't be witty during death & big threat situations!"

      1. Schuyler Finley Avatar
        Schuyler Finley

It just that with the MCU, they butcher the tension with a crap of ton of jokes in each of their movie. It's all about timing. I haven't watched Die Hard, but I'm pretty sure that even when McClane makes a joke in certain scenes, the tension is still there.

        1. Knight-Errant Avatar
          Knight-Errant

"Crap of ton of jokes" is an exaggeration. McClane, Stark, Rigg, me...we add witty humor for levity in tense situations.

            Schuyler Finleyreplying to Knight-Errant

            Knight-Errantreplying to Schuyler Finley

Has humor? Sure. There's banter in the books, I expect it in the movies. All the movies are apart of a franchise. Humor for levity appears to be well received by the general audience. Not sure why every single movie wouldn't have it.

They aren't overly dramatic soap operas.

          3. Schuyler Finley Avatar
            Schuyler Finleyreplying to Knight-Errant

But its their timing. I understand having some humor in the film, but in certain films, you have to use it sparingly. You can have banter in a comic book movie, but you have to be careful with the timing. If the characters aren't taking the situation seriously by continuously making jokes, then why should audiences even care about the film's conflict?

          4. Knight-Errant Avatar
            Knight-Errantreplying to Schuyler Finley

Maybe audiences (other then a select few) enjoy the entertainment of seeing the characters "laugh in the face of danger."

"Sparingly" is is subjective. 3 jokes okay, 4 not? Plus, look at the characters who use the most witty banter. It's part of their personality.

    From Collider:

"So trust me when I say Justice League looks like a completely different movie than Man of Steel and Batman v Superman.
Sure the characters are the same. Yes Zack Snyder is still directing.
And yes the look and feel of the world Snyder has created hasn’t
changed….but what is being said by the characters and the way they’re
reacting to situations is a complete 180.

The easiest way to convey this change is I saw more people smiling on screen watching Justice League in one day than all of Batman v Superman
in its entirety. And they weren’t smiling just to smile. They were
doing it because of the dialogue and story. It seemed like the extreme
darkness has been lifted from the universe and even though the
characters are going to deal with very serious situations, there will be
moments of levity and fun for the audience."

This finally sounds like the kind of movie that BvS should have been. I am VERY happy about that direction but I am also sad that it took the very extreme response to BvS to go that way. If BvS had been like this from the start it would have kicked everyones ass this year.

In fact most movies are what you're looking for so by all means you and the majority go enjoy. Leave this DCEU out of it please. The rest of us need and deserve something different.

Not to mention, the last light-hearted DC film got blasted by everyone.

Okay? That doesn't mean it was an OBJECTIVE problem.

I'm not understanding. Is your assumption that all comic book movies should be the same tonally? lol

            Not really. lol

In terms of tone, it was very consistent and well managed.

Well if you are correct, which I don't think you are, then the majority of people are idiots. Why would you want to pay ten dollars or more to just go see the exact same characters you can read in comics, or see in cartoons, or play in videogames? If these characters never changed, they would never have lasted this long.

Same Batmobile, but with several mods. Looks like the passenger seat was replaced with some new contraption. Missile launchers up front and in the rear fenders. Cameras or lights mounted to inside front 'fenders'. Some other refinements to body parts & panels. I'd still like to know what the giant 'wings' on the top-rear are used for. They always look to me to be retracted with some purpose that hasn't been revealed yet.

Yes! So happy Zack Snyder's still directing it! Can't wait to see more from him in the DCU :3

        He keeps impressing me!
When I watched Watchmen at the theaters I was like "That's it. He's the man for superhero movies" and believe me I never thought a superhero movie, for me, could beat Watchmen, but he keeps getting better. There are some directors who're really bad at doing sequels but this guy... I just can't wait to see Zack Snyder's BvS version which might bring up more positive comments and shut Warner Bros' face. Now all I'm really worried about is Warner Bros. I just hope they're going to screen Zack Snyder's JL version at the theaters and not ask him 2-3 months before the release to make it shorter or whatever like they did with Sucker Punch, Watchmen, & BvS recently (there might even be others).

I couldn't agree with you more. I think it's a damn shame we didn't get the UC as the theatrical release, it's another Watchmen situation where the theatrical cut was good but the version Snyder had was much better.

Hope more people enjoy the UC of BvS. I already really liked it, I just can't wait to watch the UC next week :)!

I'm worried he will change up too much and leave the creativity at the door for something easier to swallow for the critics. He does have a personal flair but if justice League is anywhere near the owl movie we're in trouble.

I'm kidna worried about that too. But Zack Snyder's been having these critics for years now, for all of his movies so I don't take he's taking em seriously. I believe the negative comments we're seeing the minority of people who saw BvS. Well adding a little bit of humor never hurts, and I said LITTLE BIT. Fun has always been a fun character, way less than Hal Jordan tho.

It won't be too late because they'll save the day. Also, it's time to board the hype train!
