Besides the official title, the number one thing that fans are talking about online is who the villains will be in Batman vs. Superman. Lex Luthor is almost a given at this point, based on easter eggs in Man of Steel, a Q&A with director Zack Snyder, and a rumor from Variety that Warner Bros. wants Joaquin Phoenix for the part. Last month we learned that there will likely be two villains in the movie, both from the Superman universe. And today we have information from two sources that suggest who will be joining Lex Luthor to take out Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

According to Hollywood producer Daniel Alter (who previously revealed that Batman would be controlling drones from the Batcave, and was backed up by Batman on Film) Doomsday will be a villain in Batman vs. Superman. Big, strong actors have been rumored to a villain role, including Jason Momoa, Callan Mulvey, and even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. It's very likely that they could be up for Doomsday.

How would you feel about Lex Luthor and Doomsday being the two main villains of the movie? At some point Batman and Superman have to stop fighting and team-up to save the world, right? With filming scheduled to begin next month, it won't be long until Warner Bros. puts out the official word.

        His Wonder Woman tweet was on December 3rd.
        All the stories about Gal Gadot, Jaimie Alexander and Olga Kurylenko were early November.
        It didn't exactly take Nostradamus to believe Wonder Woman was in the movie.

        But what proof is there that makes that true? I don't see how it can be proven until a script leaks, or it's shown in a trailer or something.
        I just can't fathom why a guy who is trying to get his movies made by WB is blatantly tweeting out spoilers for one of their most important movies of all time. It's crazy. This is like if you worked at ABC a few years ago and you kept tweeting Lost spoilers. It seems like somebody would phone this guy up and say WILL YOU SHUT UP?

        I don't think anything is confirmed yet, it's just looking like these two will be the villains based on what we've heard so far. I know what you mean about all his tweets. I even mentioned that in that drone article I posted... "I don’t think a Hollywood producer would be the type of person to spread rumors on the internet. That said, I’m also a little surprised that a Warner Bros. producer is leaking info about Warner Bros.’ most secretive movie."

        News is news and fans are itching for it.
        WB/DC know it stirs up interest. Whether it's true, an opinion, possible idea or classic misdirection.... its all for us to translate/ guess..(least till confirmation or the film's release).Who knows, maybe the WB/DC producers use these 'bits of info' to test the waters? The idea of 'always look before you leap'?
        I think the idea is slick, and Luthor offers many possibilities, villain wise with cloning Bizzarro and creating Metallo etc etc. Doomsday is the best option as they can't go as big as Darkseid or Brainiac just yet, not with other key characters still to introduce. It makes sense.
        Whatever arc they pick, GET THE STORY RIGHT!! and please don't rush the ending just so the film is done in to 2+ hrs... if needs time to build, let it arc over MOS 2 /3 and do it with pride not for just for the big bucks.

        They need to do all out Doomsday. They could possibly bring Doomsday back in another movie too. Doomsday had a good storyline in the comic books. This Doomsday can't be a clone if they make Bizarro a clone.

        If they do Doomsday, and aim as close as possible to the comic, Superman will have his butt whupped TWICE in one film!
        Batman will bring Kryptonite laced shoes and put his foot in Superman's a**!
        Doomsday will simply kill him.
        Short origins are best for villains (if there is less time for 'a proper arc' like 2face's in TDK) my guess is they'll go for either cloning/ escape from the Phantom Zone.

        The storyline elements of the comic books need to be done. Then to evolve and surpass them to a new level. But first before you do that you have to atleast do as good as them. There's a continuity science to follow and the movies are much better when they look at that. If you can make the movies better in every way for a far greater vision then that's really good. What's odd about Doomsday is that he has a Kryptonian DNA origin but he's not affected by the red sun. He's also not affected by the yellow sun. That or his red sun weakness was removed from him when he was created.

The Rock is too big of a name to just have him as a one and done villain. The Rock in a cameo as GL or he will be cast as Lex Luthor. Personally, I would rather see The Rock as GL.

      Joaquin Phoenix would make an excellent Luthor. I have loved his work, since Gladiator. He portrays characters with such incredible depth. Another good choice would be Bryan Cranston, though part of me wants him to portray Gordon in another live-action Batman film. Either way, it will be interesting to see who they end up casting as Lex.

    He kinda resemble Lex in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies but as a fan of The Rock the best way to capitalize off of his charisma and character is for him to play a hero.

    Marketing wise it would be dumb to put The Rock as a one and done villain. He can very easily build chemistry for the Justice League. Chemistry is what makes the Avengers films. So GL would be the best bet.

    I think The Rock as GL could be great. It's one instance where I think the movie version would be superior to the comics.
    John Stewart is about as underdeveloped a character as you can get. I can't think of a single great John Stewart story. He's been in the background of a lot, but never the focus. At the end of the day his only claim to fame is that he's the black Green Lantern. That's it. Beyond that he's a personality-less generic goodie two shoes. Even his name is generic. If The Rock has one thing, it's personality. John Stewart could use a nice big shot of personality.

Luthor I like. But it's too soon for Doomsday, given that he's really only famous for killing Superman. Unless they don't want to go that route with the character. But if they eventually do, I think they should back off him for now, as he's more effective as a new threat who killed Superman rather than one that fought Superman before and finally got the best of him.

  I feel like Luthor and Doomsday won't make a good villain team up. They are worlds apart. (One wants to control the world, the other just wants to destroy it)
  I would prefer a Lex Luthor/Vandal Savage team up instead. Vandal Savage is a villain who has fought both Batman and Superman. Not sure about Wonderwoman but then again Savage has fought most of the DC universe.

    Naming it a Justice League because of a couple of appearances, I find, does a disservice to what a Justice League would or should be. I mean, is a Justice League solely about having appearances from 5 characters, whether major or minor? What about the story? I think a Justice League film should have all the Justice Leaguers as the main characters, something this film doesn't seem to have if we`re looking at the potential list of titles and comic con announcement, plus the logo revealed.

It feels way too soon for Doomsday. And it shouldn't be in a team up movie, it should be in a true Superman standalone movie.
With having to continue Superman's story, reboot Batman, introduce Luthor and have conflict between the three...it just seems like Doomsday is only going to be there as some lowly monster henchman like Bane in Batman and Robin.
The good news is I don't believe a single thing this Alter guy says.

  As I've mentioned in my other comment, Supes vs Bats, Supes vs Lex and Supes vs DD are all potential standalone movies. I seriously hope this isn't the case because it's simply too much. I'm thinking along of the lines of Nolan Batverse; Have an origins movie that introduces the character and then make the second movie that really highlights him alone by inserting an arch-nemesis of some sort.... We didn't even get to see an actual Clark Kent in MoS, why rush things? now we have 3 HUGE rivals in one movie. This might get sloppy.

  Perhaps Doomsday will be a teaser at the end. I have several comics that showcased Doomsday punching a steel wall. If the next Man of Steel movie showed that at the end credits, I'd have the look of a Joker victim.

Although I think it's WAY too soon to introduce the Doomsday story arc, I'm glad it's not Darkseid. I want them to keep Darkseid for a future Justice League movie. This is getting rather heavy... Batman/Superman has enough content for one movie, Superman/Lex Luthor as well and Superman/Doomsday could also make for a standalone movie. Not to mention Wonder Woman in all this... and there were rumors long ago of a possible Nightwing (Rumors of course...). As stoked as I am, this is WAAAAAAY too much.

  These are comic book FILM ADAPTATIONS. You can use Doomsday without actually adapting the Death of Superman storyline. There's been 6 standalone Superman films. It's time Superman meets some other characters from the DC Universe! It's not too much, if you have a PURPOSE for every character. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter pulled this off. Zack Snyder can do the same.

    Agreed on the adaptation comment, it doesn't have to be the same and Nolan proved this by incorporating references here and there in the Dark Knight trilogy without making it a blatant copy paste from the actual comics. On the other hand, LOTR and and HP are closer adaptations than what we see with the DC comics/graphic novels. The LOTR/HP have a broader canvas for film making because each film was actually based on the book (not to mention how they have multiple movies made for them as well, Batman vs Super is 1 movie with all of the characters above). I'm talking about all these characters in Superman vs Batman as being excessive. Spiderman 3 was a mess because they simply had too much going on. It had potential (and I personally like Sam Raimi's work) but it flopped because he simply had too much on his plate. There's potential for each rivalry, as ive mentioned above. Sometimes, less is more and i don't think it would necessary to have that much going on. But i'm still hopeful if that's case.

      Regardless of how many characters used in a movie, a FOCUSED and COHESIVE story has to be told inorder for it to be good. You bring up Spiderman 3; An awful and lazy job explaining without really explaining the Venom symbiote. You try and tie Sandman to Uncle Ben's murder, Mary Jane drama, Eddie Brock, Gwen Stacy written poorly, (shouldn't have been in the film). Just bad character decisions and direction. Batman vs. Superman and eventually both of them vs. Lex and S.T.A.R Labs, followed by the set-up of an expanded DC universe (Justice League). Haven't read the script but that's likely the plot.

        Again, no disagreement here; If executed properly with proper writing and directing, it can be done. It's all about character development and proper story arc when dealing with this many characters. I recall how Raimi wasn't a fan of Venom (which baffles me...), the "New Goblin" wasn't a solid character and the Sandman's purpose was just stupid. From what I've seen so far, movies with crazy superhero amalgamations aren't always the best and they fail because there's simply too much and the anticipation is always really high. The Avengers is flashy eye-candy good and then you have Watchmen and X-Men first class that were done right. It is possible to pull-off if they actually choose to put this many characters, but it's a challenge nonetheless. As mentioned previously, I'm hopeful because Snyder has yet to disappoint me (minus Sucker Punch...). But if executed poorly... it can be messy.
        EDIT : Since there are rumors of JLA being filmed immediately after Batman vs Superman, an introduction to a few more characters makes a little more sense now ;)

From now on, this film is oficially overcrowded, even more so than The Amazing Spider Man 2. Up until this point, I believed this could be either an epic win or an epic fail, but now I'm more inclined towards an epic fail full of shlock.

  OVERCROWDED! It's a shared universe. In Man of Steel, while the world (not just Metropolis & Smallville) was in jeopardy, other heroes existed. It makes since that in the sequel, Batman and Wonder Woman would be curious about this God-like powered alien hanging around Earth. It CAN be a cohesive story and not a train wreck of a movie.

They gave me a non-corny Superman, and SOMETHING (perhaps a great script) convinced Affleck to come out of superhero retirement and play Batman. This movie has so much potential.   X-Men is over-crowded by default; You can't do an x-men movie without over-crowing it. The Dark knight trilogy was not over-crowded, and I don't undersant why you say it is over-crowded. The expendables movies are so dumb and shitty that it is not even worth saying they are over-crowded. Movies with "all-star cast" are not necessarely over-crowded if the characters are not all shoved down our throats and the plot is well polished. And unless the title of this movie is revealed to be "justice league", then it will continue to feel over-crowded.

    Than by using your own defenition of "overcrowed", the movie is going to suck because its going to "convey a message of 'discomfort', or 'discontent'", spawinng from the fact that Snyder won't be able to provide either a decent script or a decent direction.     The raccoon and tree talk, Doomsday doesn't, outside of some primal growling or something. It's a waste of money to hire some big actor for that. All you'd need is a stunt man to play the physical part of the role. Just like the Non character in MoS was played by a normal sized guy with a stick on his head.

  My thought exactly. As for the motion capture, they have actors specifically for that, though Rock would be pretty good at it I'm sure. The voice though is going to need to be done by a professional voice actor and then probably altered completely anyway. I really hope they don't try to do Doomsday in make-up. I like the idea of Rock or Momoa playing a strong villain role, but not Doomsday.

I personally think that it would be too soon to go the doomsday route. They need to establish Superman first. Warner Bros. are putting too many eggs in one basket. Patience is virtue that they seem to lack. It is best to focus on the fallout of Superman killing Zod and the destruction of Metropolis. Batman will represent the voice of doubt and be adversarial at first. Luthor will most likely try to stir up anti-Superman sentiment as well. In the end, what we need to see is Superman realizing what kind of hero he can be and the meaning of restraint. Additionally, we want to see Batman's faith and purpose renewed planting the seed for Justice League. As for Wonder Woman, I feel her part will be smaller than people realize and that she will be left for later on.

  Think about it. Why spend 150 million on a solo Wonder Woman film, 200 million more on a solo Batman film, when you can introduce them both in this upcoming film? They'll both be responding to Superman's presence on earth. Doomsday doesn't even need character development. They don't need to save him for a Death of Superman movie that they probably won't make anyway.

        I am. If they're being explained how to design certain sets, action sequences, etc. then they're being explained what characters are involved in the scene. If the scene involves CGI for Green Lantern's ring, blurring effects for Flash, then they're going to know that.

The main thing about Doomsday is that he killed Superman. If you don't have him do that in the film, then he really just becomes another CGI creature for Supes to punch. You could have so many other characters in the same place and it wouldn't make a difference if that's the case, if Doomsday doesn't kill him.
It's too soon in the mythology, unless they're jumping ahead a couple years. It should be Metallo and that way you can introduce Kryptonite. Hopefully the rumor isn't true, this guy doesn't seem to have "Quite" enough support for me to believe his claims. Both this, and the drone rumors...

The Dark Knight trilogy was criticized of the same "thing" such as "too" crowded. It came out great, and story was almost perfectly compelling, except for some tiny holes. Having big names and bit characters on a project does't "doom" it. Pun totally intended.

Just saying IF The Rock is in this movie ? I probably won't be seeing it ! I am not hateing on The Rock he is what he is and he does it well BUT an actor he is not ! Come on people Nolan brought us to the promised land for Batman on the BIG screen he lit the fire now we the fans must carry the tourch ! Reading the comments here lately has been very depressing your settling for second best and if this is your expectation don't be surprised when your presented with movies like Green Lantern and Man of Steel !
The casting of The Rock reminds me of the casting of Arnie as Mr Freeze ! And we all know how that turned out !
When reviewing any piece of info from this movie the first question you should ask yourself is ' would Nolan do this ?'
Eg ' Would Nolan have Superman kill Zod at the end of MOS ? Answer NO ! He is on the record saying it was completely off point for Supes ! And the list goes on !
I am only wrighting this from the point of view of a guy who wants to see an EPIC movie with great acting , dialogue and direction ! But I fear standards have dropped and that's not what we are going to get ?

  Nolan made great movies. But he also sacrificed much of what makes the superhero genre great to make them. I think what Snyder is doing is a breath of fresh air after the grounded, hyper-realism of Nolan. Nolan has a style. It's a great style. But when it comes to true superhero movies like Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. I couldn't care less what his opinion is because these are not the type of movies he's built for. If I wanted a big epic crime caper, Nolan is my guy. But if I want superheroes flying through the air battling alien monsters, he wouldn't be in my top 20.
  And I don't care what Nolan has to say about the ending of MoS because him having Batman let Ra's die was a million times worse than anything in MoS.

      I don't know why people feel that way. Batman has been "mixing with aliens" in every other medium DC characters appear in forever. It's not new. Why is it so wrong when it comes to movies?

        Well, yeah. Of course. Batman has been a member of the JLA since day one. Some of the greatest Batman stories came out of JLA. The Justice League cartoon was hugely popular. There have been many classic Batman/Superman stories.

    Batman's #1 rule is to save lives, not let anybody die. He has saved The Joker's life multiple times and after all he's done. Yet he kills Ra's after he did...what? Busted a few water pipes?
    I'd say the "no kill" rule is WAY more ingrained in Batman mythos than it ever was in Superman. Superman actually has killed Zod before and it was part of canon for years and years. He killed Zod in Superman 2. There's a track record there for this to happen that's not there for Batman.
    Batman Begins is my favorite. It doesn't ruin the movie or anything. But in a movie where there are so many moments that made me say "this guy gets it!!!!" that one moment was a WTF moment.

  Now we've to deal with Batman in fucking SPACE, fighting bloody ALIENS. It was INEVITABLE, and we KNEW that day would come, right? Well, that day came and only we can do now is pray for a good story. The only thing that can pull something good out of this is a TERRIFIC SCRIPT.
  I think MoS was a good movie, good fun. I liked the story. I do like Justice League stories, but i hate and always hated the fact that Batman belongs to Justice League. How contradictory is that? LOL

  Who are you kidding? You'll see this movie regardless of who they cast. EVERYBODY will. The Rock is a good actor and most importantly, box office gold! Nolan's great, but he's not a comic book guy, like at all. He leaned on David S. Goyer a lot more than people realize. I'm hoping Affleck's vision of Batman can perhaps outdo Nolan's trilogy.

I feel like Doomsday is going to be one of those end of credits things.. so they leave it open for the actual justice league movie or maybe they will do Darkseid. It's kind of annoying because these are both superman villains... I would think to mesh the idea of batman and superman they would want to pull a villain from each... I don't know I like the idea of Joker and Lex teaming up but, there's no way they will do Joker at any point within the next 10 years... and rightfully so. I seriously don't see Dwayne Johnson filling Lex's shoes, but im slowly getting the idea that is happening, Momoa fits Dooms Day Better... Callan Mulvey looks more like a lex luthor but better yet, a riddler. DoomsDay will have to be bigger and CGI but Johnson and Momoa have the same build I just don't see Momoa and Johnson pulling off the Luthor Doomsday combo. The casting and the fact that this movie just feels like it is going to be all over the place is slowly pushing me away from the realm of giving a sh*t about it at all. I'm interested in seeing costumes, then the plot then a trailer. all this other stuff is just a full on tease/speculation. Bryan cranston was the best suggestion for Luthor I have heard so far.

  I kinda hope for the opposite. Have Doomsday be the main villain for the majority of the movie and have Lex lurking in the background as a friend to all. Then in the end Luthor is revealed to be the creator or driving force behind Doomsday and the true evil. Setting up Luthor to be the main villain next time out.

Are we going to get the all out powerful grizzly Doomsday? There's also a deeper story to Doomsday, are they going to consider writing and story? Aren't Lex Luthor's other villains going to seem very weak by bringing in Doomsday first? They would probably want to do Metallo and possibly Bizarro first with some other movies. I also wonder how Lobo is going to fit in there in this movie or a later movie. After a few movies Lex Luthor can develop the Legion of Doom. There's a lot of stuff they want to build up to in the comic books when doing these characters when developing the DC universe for the movies. If Doomsday is that powerful and Lex Luthor unleashes him then Lex Luthor would regret it after he sees the huge threat Doomsday is. The previous Green Lantern movie killed off it's future movies with how it did things. The stories in the comic books it was based on were much better written and explained everything. The movies want to do the story better than the comic books, not worse. I should wait for more details on this. They want to bring in Doomsday before the Justice League is formed. Justice League would be written to be strong enough to fight Doomsday so they want to bring in Doomsday before they're formed.

  The Doomsday thing is a great point. If Doomsday is really in the movie and it's really the bad ass Doomsday that killed Superman...how do you bring a villain in the next movie that can be taken seriously? How do you go up from that? It's already going to be hard to go up from the level of destruction in the first movie.

    How do you bring a villian in the next movie that can be taken seriously after Doomsday? I don't know, Darkseid, Mongul, Sinestro Corps, The White Martians, Brainiac, Eclipso, Legion of Doom, Amazo, Maxwell Lord. Just to name a few! And Technically Doomsday never killed Superman. He was just unconscious for a long time.

  A lot of people feel like he should be Superman's ultimate villain and should be the one that ends him. I think they should kill Superman but somehow bring him back with something like the sun can ressurect him if he gets a high enough about of the radiation so they shoot his body at the sun and it comes back to life ultra powerful and he murders the crap out of doomsday because you HAVE to kill him or WW kills him
