Yesterday was a busy one for Anne Hathaway! She appeared on the Today Show and Live with Kelly in the morning, and the Late Show with David Letterman at night. She brought along a new clip from The Dark Knight Rises which features a conversation between Selina Kyle and officer John Blake. Check out the clip above, I’ve embedded part of Anne Hathaway's interview after the break. Click here for the full schedule of upcoming appearances from the cast of The Dark Knight Rises.

I already dislike David Letterman as it is, that smug douche. Now I wanna punch him. Hard. In the face. With an iron fist. No one likes to hear an ending to an highly anticipated film spoiled on live TV. Then again, it's really hard to know what to believe nowadays. Best to walk into a movie without inflamed notions or ideas about what will happen and just let the movie take you over. But you can't do that nowadays with self-absorbed assholes like Letterman, screwing things up.
Yeah, I'm mad.

I haven't seen the movie myself, but Letterman's "revelation" (whether legit or not) doesn't really bother me one bit...let's face it: TDKR cannot be considered as an "epic conclusion" to Bruce's journey if Batman (and I'd like to stress the alter ego BATMAN) gets to "live to fight another day" on the sole purpose of Bruce's alter ego still having a mission left to do or still having something to give (remember Bat's "Not everything...not yet" line?).
Therefore, the inevitable end is that Batman has to "die"...he has to go, but Bruce needs to live the life that he deserve: to live as a man free of the guilt that spurned him to "dress like a flying rodent" (as The Joker puts it) in the first place. How it'll be pulled off in the film, I have no idea.
by the way: I'M WITH COCO.

Understandable, but still...douche move on Letterman's part. No matter what the logic or reasoning, he should have kept his mouth shut. I really don't like the guy.

SoUnds like u just have a personal problem with letterman...... I don't think he spoiled anything......people made way too big of a deal out of a joke!

Yeah, I don't like Letterman...moreso, I hate that he went out and said what he said about the ending to a film that myself and thousands of others have spent 4 years in intense anticipation for. It ain't no joke dude.

I have been anticipating for the last4 years too! I'm just saying if it was an actual spoiler Anne Hathaway could have called Wb and sai Dave messed up....and it would have been taking care of! U don't think Nolan, after all the things he has done to keep this movie a secret, didn't kno what was said by letterman before the show aired to check for spoilerish stuff? I'm almost positive he knew and realized that what letterman said doesn't affect the outcome of the film!

I disagree...I think he is going to have to kill Bane and will leave the mantle of the bat because of what he was forced to do.

Regardless of what one thinks of Dave I doubt even he would give away the ending like that if Batman truly did die in the end. Unless people who have seen the movie know otherwise; I suspect Batman does NOT die.
Or does does joking that Batman dies when he really doesn't still considered a spoiler?
Oh Anne Hathaway how I love you, I love how much pride she takes in being catwoman.
If you saw David Letterman last night then you might have heard Dave say something that could have drove you mad. He was part of the group that have seen The Dark Knight Rises. In joking around with Anne Hathaway he makes a statement"at the end Batman is dead" and starts laughing. He immediately says he is kidding and Anne says "Chris I had nothing to do with it." I don't know how to take that but just hoping that David Letterman didn't give anything away.

Hathaway looked pretty freaked out at that. Though he may have been doing it to screw with all of us nerds that have been waiting so long for this movie and Hathaway was just playing along.

Or in a way, maybe he was telling the truth and Batman is dead, but not Bruce Wayne.
Meaning he killed Bane, (speculation), and then gives up the mantle thus 'killing' Batman.
But who knows, like you said it could be a joke or it could be that once again David Letterman failed at interviewing. If he actually spoil the ending, I think it's time for him to retire.1 like

Why would you fucking post that with no spoiler tags!!!!!

Are you serious dude?!? It's all over the Internet plus we've been talking about this ever since the first trailer. IMHO I think Nolan might have something to do with it. Think about it for a minute.... Do you honestly think Letterman would say something like that without Nolan knowing what's going to be said? Plus he didn't say it seriously and for all we know it was to throw another wrinkle in the puzzle. To me if it was unexpected Anne's expression would have been ten times worse than it was. It looked planned to me.

Still needs spoiler tags that, mate... All over the Internet or not. Fans stay away from "the Internet" when the film has been shown to the press to avoid any kind of spoilers. This is a site where we all trust each other. Planned or not planned that was not fucking cool. Use your head next time. Dick.

Hey mate,
You need to back off. The guy didn't do it because he didn't need to. Get off your high horse mate. Everyone has been talking about batman dying for a long time. IT WAS PLANNED FOR LETTERMAN TO SAY THAT!! The Letterman show is pre-taped so WB and Nolan knew about it so obviously they didn't see a reason to have it edited. Chill your dumbass out.

I believe Gordon put John Blake in a special unit to protect Bruce, whether or not John knows at this point that he was Batman, is anyones guess. Also Selina looked emotional when asked about Bruce, but she was the one who led Batman to Bane. Odd.

she prrobly was emotional cuz she found out bruce wayne was batman after bane "broke the bat"

Yeah... it was clearly a staged joke... no spoilers... Panic Mode now ON [OFF]
I'm not hating on David Letterman, but I just don't think that was a smart thing for him to do. The fact that he joked about Batman being killed at the end basically leads me to believe that Bruce Wayne is going to survive. I figured he would survive, anyways, but really? Yes it's a joke but it wasn't needed at all.
Great acting by Anne!
I doubt Nolan would deliberately spoil a movie like that. Do you think other studios will allow their actors to appear on his show if they knew the host would reveal the ending to their movies? The talk shows rely on guests to bring in viewers. My guess is that there's more to this than what we think.
Everyone needs to stop being so naive. Batman doesn't die!

we'll see

I hope she brings another new clip on Jimmy Fallon tonight but i got a feeling it might be this one again
First? So blake is "friends" with Mr. Wayne although throughout the series Wayne has been an airhead so he wont blow his cover like the "catching the green light" incident. hmmm, no robin i understand but how is he an orphan (maybe) and now friends with Wayne and we are still not allowed to think he's not just a cop. what you think guys?

Nolan made it clear recently that Blake will serve as a reminder to both Gordon and Wayne about the kind of dedication that they have prior to the Dent's corruption...also, set photos from last year where Bruce's lambo gets towed away also shows them having a buddy talk...i remember John letting Bruce "ride shotgun" in his squad car as he has no other means to go around the city without Alfred embarrassingly fetch him at the scene.

well we all know there is going to be a scene where bane is going to "Break" batman, and of course some one is going to respond to the disturbance so i think blake goes to see what happened and sees an almost dead bruce wayne in a batman costume and puts the puzzle together

I guess this is my reward for staying up till 5AM.
This comment section needs to be closed off. Huge spoilers all over the place.

I really think you need to chill man. It was planned. All media members had to sign to not give anything away in interviews. You could tell by the look in Anne's face it was fixed

Are people really starting to post spoilers in the comments section? I don't want to look because I don't want four years of waiting to be ruined by some smart ass. Has anybody read all of the comments? Looks like I might have to stop looking at the comments section until July 20th comes and I've already seen the midnight premiere. Just one more week!
Let's be real guys Letter man won't give the ending away because he doesn't want to get his ass sued. I'm sure it was just a staged joke! We will all get to witness it next Friday damn I can't wait!!!
Does this clip seem edited? Blake closes the folder at the first question to Selena, then when Blake finishes and stands up, he closes the folder again...???

Nope. @ ~0:07s you can hear off camera when he opens the folder ;-)

Ok people, CALM DOWN, there are no spoilers in the comment section or in the interview. I didn't watch the clip though. Letterman was only joking, however I will say this. Joking or not I still don't think he should say something like that. Unless Chris is trying to screw with us haha. I mean, for the longest time I really thought in some way, shape, or form Batman, or the thought of him whould die somehow but after watching a lot of press I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I wish the mystery was still here and people didn't even mention the ending (Letterman) but it was NOT a spoiler so calm down.

But doesnt letterman confirm that batman doesnt die?

It is a joke. An obvious joke. He is sitting there laughing the whole time. We don't know what the truth is. For all we know, he does die and this whole thing is just to screw with us or meant to throw us off the trail. I mean the show is tapped early in the afternoon. You don't think that if something wrong happened that wasn't staged or meant as a joke or to screw with us that Anne wouldn't immediately contact Chris after the show and tell him so that he could tell Letterman to edit it out before it hit the air at 11:30?

Ok thanks!

That's it! I should stop watching those... too much information.
This show is taped in the afternoon. They edit bits out of it. If what Letterman said was any kind of a real problem they would edit it out. I'm not saying that means Batman lives or dies, but clearly Hathaway's people did not think it was the end of the world. Calm down. This is not a 100% critical spoiler.

That's my thinking as well. If Letterman goofed, Hathaway would call the studio and they'd call CBS and threaten to sue if they aired it. The fact that it went to air tells me this wasn't a problem for the studio. I suspect this is part of the marketing plan.

Same here men. Letterman, that guy is a friggin' joke nothing more.
No one is more critical and protective then Chris Nolan and therefore Warner Bros. so to speak. There's no chance in hell that the ending can be leaked during interviews with anyone from the cast.
It's the other side around.I bet Chris Nolan (plus cast en crew) and Warner Bros even prepared those interviews because new clips are coming with them too because it's all marketing. Marketing is like essential because Warner Bros aims for REALLY HUGE numbers ofcourse when speaking of the opening weekend. and we all know which movie holds number one position. The Avengers. And Hollywood can't go without a little competition. Conclusion: When you look at the big picture, spoiling the ending is impossible if you're Letterman or not.0 likes
TDKR: SK eye-roll- "You can't protect me! You can't even protect yourselves."
TDK: Lau- "You can't protect me! You can't even protect yourselves."
Well, Anne's reaction leaves me cold, there's a big chance of the spoiler to be true
This is probably right after Bruce Wayne was captured and taken to the prison. Idk why everyones being little bitches today.
Idiot Letterman! Another clip online shows him potentially blowing the end of the story! Hey Dave! THATS why you you didnt get the Tonight Show and Leno did!
...What a putz!
Oh my god, I hope nobody watched the Letterman show when
Hathaway was interviewed! I can’t believe she spoiled the ending of the movie
for at least millions of die-hard Batman fans. I know I am and was quite
excited to see the movie until I came across this! Hopefully it was just a hoax
and she was lying, but if you don’t believe me, read about it yourself! http://thecelebritycafe.com...

Batman actually fakes his own death, thus leaving only Bruce Wayne. When declared dead, Bruce Wayne is able to live his life with none other than Selina Kyle. When seen in Paris by none other than Alfred, he feels nothing but joy for Bruce being able to live and love. That's the ending. Enjoy!
