Yesterday thousands of extras filled up Heinz Field for a scene in The Dark Knight Rises. Bane showed up, and while it's hard to hear him, we get our first listen at what he might sound like. Check out the video of Bane's scene and photos from the shoot, courtesy of some really brave fans. No huge plot points are revealed, but if you're avoiding spoilers, don't watch the video!

The voice really grows on you. And I read on the site FB page that that was a rough first take. People need to go down to the pharmacy, buy a pack of chill pills, go home, pour a glass of water, take the chill pills, sit down on the couch, light up a joint and....chiiiiiiill.

I like how intelligent he sounds. He sounds old and withered but intelligent sounding and really creepy. His voice could also change once he takes the venom, you never know.

Next poll of the podcast should be: "Who do you think is the hostage?" a) Batman/Bruce , b) Jim Gordon, c) Harvey Dent , d) Mayor Antonhy Garzia, e) The Joker xDDDDDD

This is spoiling.... ¿how can anyone tell the hostage is Batman? don't come with the "nothing new story", we don't know if bane is talking to the batman

The hostage could be Commissioner Gordon. That's probably why he's in the hospital in the trailer.

The hostage is Alon Aboutboul as Mad Scientist (Hugo Strange perhaps) see it by yourself in the video posted below by "BANE MATELO"

I think it's the mad scientist, definitely not joker. And I dont think Bane is trying to convince people he's there to create order as such, in the scene he blows up the football pitch and kills all the players and the refs, not very civilised. I still dont think JGL will be a villain, I think he'll just be an important cop like Gordon has been.

Just want to say, I'm glad I'm not the only one who decided to be naughty and take vids/pics. It's going to be an awesome scene when it's all put together in post.
To weigh in on the conversation, here's what I caught from my experience:
1. Every take that they piped in his voice over the loudspeakers, I heard "this is the instrument of your liberation."2. I have no idea what all exactly happened during our scene as far as real plot is concerned, and I was there the whole day. We were deliberately kept in the dark about everything except the most basic information that we needed in order to be able to do our parts and act like a real crowd in a real danger situation.
3. As to the hostage, I was a level down from the guy who recorded this particular video, so I didn't see very clearly - a lot of us thought it was Gordon because the guy was tall enough to be Gary Oldman and had a similar haircut, but I borrowed a guy's binoculars next to me and took a closer look. It wasn't, I repeat, WASN'T Gordon, nor was it the Joker (Y'all posting in a troll thread, there, folks). I actually concur with the post that said the hostage was Alon Aboutboul. No idea who the person is supposed to be in the film, but I know that in the last take they did of this, I'm pretty sure the hostage/guy on his knees was executed in some fashion. As far as we were able to hear in the audience (whether they cut audio so we couldn't hear or whatever), the hostage never identified himself to the world, so we won't know until somebody can find better footage with higher quality or until we see the finished product.
4. The tumblers were only there to get the crowd excited, from what I can see - they didn't get used in any of the filming the day we were all there. All they did was drive around the field and give Hines Ward a ride. One cool thing about the tumblers, though, is that there IS one that has a large tank-type cannon on top of it, which they used to demonstrate one of the explosives that they littered the field with. We WERE told that Bane stole the camo tumblers, so I'm not sure whether Batman will have a tumbler in this movie or not.My take on the whole thing is that this scene is just adding to the notion that Bane is trying to break the Bat through a war of attrition and exhaustion. If people are concerned about spoilers, they probably shouldn't come to a site that's specifically dedicated to giving as much information as possible about the movie. It's not like we've given away that Bane is Batman's twin brother's college roommate twice removed on his uncle's side or something... if you don't want to know, then don't visit the site.4 likes
Alon Aboutboul is supposed to play as the mad scientist. Hm... I wonder how these lines fit into context with him then?

He did say "destruction". In the next take he started to "de...."( like he had forgotten that he was supposed to change "destruction" to another word) and then said "liberation". from that point on he daid "liberation" . That's how it sounded to me.

the instrument of liberation must be that weird looking bomb thing, and if that is the mad scientist on his knees then he must have made it, and banes just stole it from him. and then made an example of him, showing the power he had, showing that he takes what he wants.

If his voice really is going to sound like that, which I'm ok with because it's different, then that must be Bane in the teaser; you know, the guy that looks frail climbing out of the well. Remember?!

What is up with the voice? It doesnt sound like I would think Bane would sound like. You would imaging bane to have a deep, bellowing voice. This guy sounds like he's going to off some football players then have some tea and crumpets with the queen! Reminiscent of a kookie guy from A clockwork orange.
I really hope Nolan has something good up his sleeve for Bane... or like some of the rumors state...have a much more menacing secondary villain.
As with most things Nolan and Batman, we need to sit back and wait for the final product.

This voice seriously came out of the blue....I don't think anybody was expecting his voice to be like that. But I kinda liked it. It's an oddly creepy and foreboding voice. When he spoke, his voice came with a kind of doomsday feel to it. But in the final product, the voice will sound better so there ya go.

Earthquake machine. Actually, this thing exists in the comics!

I really liked Bane's voice... he sounds like a 100 years old man!
1- And why is that? Venom side effects? He's vacillating and clearing his throat all the time... something like Jokers licking his mouth tic in TDK! We must see the context of the flick to analyze better.
2- What is that metallic sphere? In my opinion looks like the earthquake machine that appeared in comics, and match with the TDKR teaser poster!
3- Who is the hostage? Could be some Batman's double... Blake? Lucious? Or the mad scientist... some people said that is the scientist indeed!1 like
The first time I watched the video, I was taken aback...really wasn't expecting that voice. The second time I watched it I laughed when he said instrument. Then the third time watched it to analyze it...it was very creepy, almost sinister. It gave the video a kind of doomsday feel to it, especially when he brought out that machine. Of course, the final product will make his voice sound better, and hopefully, creepier. I like so far how this bane is totally different from the comics. He's smaller, still muscular, and has a fragile voice...totally opposite of the comics yet it still feels like bane. We can't actually analyze too much, since they are definitely going to edit his voice.
Something else interesting, like another poster mentioned, Bane sounds like a revolutionary. The mass chaos of this movie, the end of the world/doomsday feel to his voice, the fact that he wants to kill everybody in the field with his machine yet he's telling them to take control of Gotham and the fact that he's about to execute someone in front of them (I'm guessing to help convince them). All this has me wondering what his motive is. I actually don't know much about the comics, so I don't know if the comic-book Bane had a clear-cut end goal, but Nolan's Bane definitely does.
Bane ripped up Harvey Dent's photo, and now this mysterious hostage also stands for something that makes him think a revolution is necessary. The people who were at the shoot said the character was someone new. I'm guessing it was someone we don't know. Who is this scientist you're talking about? I was thinking maybe Mr. Arkham or Lucius or some government official/lawyer..

Well, all we can do is to speculate... but yes, I like Bane's voice, I think is very unregular/displaced voice which makes him look more bizarre and sinister as you said. He seems to be some sick man or very old man, a guy with some sort of disfunction or illness. Very intriguing!
About the hostage, well, some people said in the internet, that the dead fella is Lucious, some others are saying that guy is Gordon [which i doubt], and another group of people said is the character of Alon Aboutboul [the so speculated mad scientist]. I think must be some very important character to the plot. Alon is supposed to play Hugo, or dr Darkk. But again, is all speculation! But at the deep of my heart, i think the dead hostage is Lucious indeed...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Bane is staging a public execution of Gotham's mayor. Makes sense in context of his dialogue...

Settle down guys. You had to be there all day to really understand what this scene represents. You're not getting much of a spoiler, besides hearing his voice for the first time. The voice is very creepy, for lack of a better word, and extremely animated. Tom is going to take the cake with this performance. The rest of the scene (hostages falling to their knees) and its dialogue was not played over the stadium PA. Obviously this is an important part of the film and Nolan didn't want to reveal too much. The way the crowd was arranged, if one of the hostages were Gordon or another important character, it would be extremely hard to make them out. At first I didn't notice that Bane had hostages, but as we were filming our crowd reactions, I then saw them.
As for people stating that he has trouble speaking with the mask on, this is simply not true. At the end of the day, he gave out some prizes and spoke to/thanked the crowd for their participation. He did all of this through the mask and his native accent and voice was easily heard. Tom and Chris Nolan obviously brewed up one hell of a personality for their take on Bane.Anyhow, the opportunity I was given to be apart of this production, I will never forget. With that said, I think it's lame that people who were at the top of the stadium had the audacity to record this part of the scene. I know everyone is entitled to their information, but the information we received prior to filming clearly said NO PHONES ALLOWED. I sat through all of this with my gf, five rows from the field, and STILL didn't take one picture... That was out of respect to the crew and the film.Regardless, I know everyone will be very pleased with Tom's performance and this scene is going to be epic. I'm still thrilled that I will be in it. Pure awesomeness!

Hey Leftysmoke, people who were attending the shoot said they did several takes of this scene and they were saying that with each take Bane's voice got better and became more suited to his character. Thoughts on that? Do you agree?

I'm not sure it could get any "better". The first time he came out, it seemed like he was feeling out his lines. However, after that, it was pure performance. The "snorting" and heavy breathing was so awesome. He basically sounds like a complete mad man, captivated in his "liberation" of Gotham. With that said, I can definitively acknowledge that Tom will absolutely bank on this performance. I just cannot believe that I have to wait until next summer to see what the rest of Nolan and crew have brewed up. The suspense is killing me!

Okay, I didn't read all the comments, sorry about that. First of all, Bane looks awesome, so does Selina. It's looking to be one hell of a big scene. Just can't wait for the movie :D. Second: when de big trailer for TDK arrived was it then december 2007? Does that than mean that we could get the big trailer this december as well?
Third: I think it would be a good move of WB that they'll attached the first teaser trailer for Man of Steel to TDKR ;D. Considering the fact that it's released a year after TDKR.
And the new logo: FANTASTIC!!!!!!2 likes
"brave fan"? How bout an asshole that has no respect for the filmmakers.

Agreed. I would have expected a lot more respect for such a film.
