1 on Checkmate #2 ReviewAlmost all of my fears have been assuaged. Where Checkmate #1 was a bloated, oddly paced mess of setup and thread-hanging, the sophomore issue of this miniseries is nothing but pure character driven fun. I was absolutely worried that Bendis was going to take this new mini and use it as an outlet for more Event…
The recent DC solicitations for December announced that Dan Jurgens’ Batman Beyond will end with issue #50. With that knowledge in hand, Batman Beyond #47 feels a little out of the series’ normal wheelhouse. Our heroes are far away from Neo-Gotham and find themselves in space trying to take out a dangerous space station run…
It’s safe to say Dan Jurgens’ Batman Beyond is back on track. Any hint of Terry’s amnesia is long gone, Elainna is fully situated as Batwoman, and the book has regained an ensemble cast which Jurgens thrives with in the Beyond universe. Batman Beyond #46 keeps that momentum going with excellent character dynamics, fantastic art,…
After two months of basically non-stop action, Batman Beyond #45 smartly slows things down a bit and takes its time to properly set up the arc’s stakes and character motivations. While the last two issues were entertaining, Dan Jurgens’ script and character dynamics take a noticeable bump up in clarity and engagement. Also different is…
Batman Beyond #44 is the biggest burst of energy the series has had in a while. Dan Jurgens’ script sheds itself of any mystery and places all of the cards on the table. For too long the series struggled to maintain any sense of momentum due to characters infighting, having amnesia, or keeping their identity…
I know books have been shipping the last few weeks, but I finally feel like I’m back in the comics world with Batman Beyond #43. It’s nice to be in the weekly grind, much like how Terry is finally back in the Batman cowl and fighting crime in Neo Gotham. Jurgens knows what works in…
Wrapping up a 7-year-long movie universe in only 90 minutes is a gargantuan task. There are bound to be missteps in the form of neglected characters, plot lines and a lot of shocking deaths that range from arbitrary to heartbreaking. But with a fast-paced storyline and great action to smooth over any rough edges, Justice…
Since the death of Damian Wayne, the New 52 series "Batman & Robin" has gone through a variety of name changes that pair Batman with the likes of Nightwing, Two-Face, Batgirl, and even Aquaman, but this July we will see the title reinstate Robin as The Dark Knight's partner in the war against Gotham's criminals.…
We have an opening available! It's pretty much impossible for a Batman fan to not know what happened last Wednesday. Even if you like to trade-wait all your books you likely had the death of Damian Wayne spoiled for you by casually browsing the web, listening to the radio, or watching the evening news. Or…
While many who frequent this site are very familiar with the most recent Boy Wonder I imagine that a great many casual fans who saw this week's headlines were a bit confused to learn that there were multiple Robins and surprised to find out that Batman had a son at all. To help get these…
While DC may have given away Batman Inc. #8's ending 2 days ahead of time, they did manage to keep one secret from fans for a good long while! Earlier today Buzzfeed broke the news that the covers DC had previewed for all upcoming March Bat-titles were all a facade to hide the tragic death…
