It seems that Matt Reeves isn't quite done with the The Batman: Part II script as of yet.

Speaking with Collider in support of The Penguin, Reeves has revealed the script for his next film isn't quite done yet. "We are finishing up, Mattson [Tomlin] and I are at it every day. We’re getting very close. We’ve given big portions of it to DC already and they’ve read it. They’re super excited, and we’re trying to get — we want to be able to gear up early next year and shoot the movie next year. We’re excited about it. We’re getting close. It’s very exciting."

Reeves confirmed that the film will indeed be called The Batman: Part II, and that the plan is still for a trilogy of films. "I mean, it’s sticking very closely to the path we envisioned," said the director.

For now, the only officially confirmed actors returning for the sequel are Robert Pattinson and Farrell. Although not officially named as of yet, Andy Serkis has made it fairly clear he will be returning to the role of Alfred Pennyworth.

The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $765.95 million dollars globally. The franchise will next expand in September with the release of The Penguin. There is already talk of possible expansions beyond these projects with Matt Reeves planning for his micro-universe that will be known as the "Batman Epic Crime Saga."

The Batman: Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 2, 2026.
