Colin Farrell will be heading back to Gotham City in 2026 for another turn at playing the Penguin in The Batman: Part II.
During the panel for The Penguin at San Diego Comic-Con, Matt Reeves offered up a bit of new information on the upcoming The Batman: Part II. Namely, that the sequel will be going into production in 2025 and is still on track to hit theaters in Oct. 2026.
While it's well-known that The Penguin picks up a week after the events of The Batman, Reeves has now shared that the eight-part series will end right before the events of the second film. It has long been stated that the series will serve as a bridge between the two films, but that seems more true than ever with this new information.
For now, the only officially confirmed actors returning for the sequel are Robert Pattinson and Farrell. Although not officially named as of yet, Andy Serkis has made it fairly clear he will be returning to the role of Alfred Pennyworth.
The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $765.95 million dollars globally. The franchise will next expand in September with the release of The Penguin. There is already talk of possible expansions beyond these projects with Matt Reeves planning for his micro-universe that will be known as the "Batman Epic Crime Saga."
The Batman: Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 2, 2026.
