James Gunn, John Cena, and Margot Robbie promote The Suicide Squad

James Gunn, John Cena, and Margot Robbie appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote The Suicide Squad on Wednesday night. And, yes, Cena dressed as Peacemaker.

The Suicide Squad is almost upon us, and James Gunn and the cast are out on the promotional trail to support it. The latest stop was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with guest host Anthony Anderson. Amongst sharing stories from the set - as well as an update on Robbie's pet rat, Rat Rat - a new clip was shared from the film as well.

The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2021 in the U.S. (The film will hit HBO Max either on Aug. 5 or Aug. 6. No clear information has been provided by the service as of yet.) It will be in theaters in the U.K. on July 30.

I dont really like the US version of talkshows all that much. It seems the likes of Jimmy Kimmel and Fallon, always over talk their guests and want the spotlight themselves. They can be funny at times but mostly i find it cringey viewing. Craig Ferguson was a good host, as is James Cordon. My favourite is Graham Norton by far though.

Craig is the epitome of talking over their guest. He's funny but not a good interviewer, asking insightful questions. My favorite is Dave Letterman (retired).

      Well I've watched a lot of Ferguson's older stuff and i never really thought he was to over bearing on the guests. His show with Robin Williams is actually like two friends having a catch up thst just happened to be caught on camera. Classic stuff.

      Yeah that was brilliant, as he spoke to them like any ordinary red blooded man in his right mind would. They'd come on looking sexy as hell and he'd feed right into it.

Ferguson was great, but so was Letterman and Conan. Conan is still great IMO, and I like Fallon but I don't watch often. This 20 minute segment was not particularly interesting though.

  Never really seen much of Letterman to make a judgement. Conan I've seen bits of but wasn't all that impressed, his claim of being Irish kind of bugs me as well. Like you were born in the States, your an American. There might be Irish ancestry there but he is a yank plain and simple. I've come across too many Americans claiming to be Irish, when really its only a grand parent or great grandparent that came from here. Its nice that there is such a love of my country over there but that stuff bugs me.

    Conan is pretty great, he has some really great interviews, and he puts them all on YouTube for free, worth a watch when you have a second IMO. As for him claiming to be Irish, that used to bug me as well, especially when I was traveling for a long time before I immigrated to the US. But the reason Americans do that is just to identify their ancestry because the US is such a melting pot. He had a segment traveling the world and when he goes to Ireland, it's pretty funny. Not defending it but just pointing out when Americans claim to be something it's more their heritage than anything. Conan knows he isn't really Irish...but then again jokes about red hair and fair skin are easy to make when he wants to make fun of himself, so it's comedy material as well I guess.

      I can understand to an extent why they do it as they are proud of their heritage whatever it may be and rightly so. It just seems sonetimes a huge lot of Americans have a boner for being Irish or claiming to be more Irish than they actually are.

      I really think it's just a way to distinguish themselves. It did used to annoy me but after living here I can see that they are not claiming to be Irish in the sense it might seem they are. When they claim it you should think of it as them claiming to be "Irish" with quotes , if that makes sense.

      Oh i fully understand what you mean and i actually meant it in a very similar way. I know they are boasting more of their heritage than actually claiming to be truly Irish. I get that. Its just it happened us so often when we were over there, it started to make the eyes roll sometimes.

      Oh I misunderstood you, I get what you mean as well. All I can say is I shared your sentiment exactly but since living here it disappeared. I guess I just got used to it. It's quite possible I've become much more American than I'm even aware of, and I don't know how I feel about that.

      I've definitely a soft spot for the States, the country itself is beautiful no question about it. How its run, its laws and its society all have major issues, that would really put me off living there though, unfortunately. The vast majority of Americans I've actually met have all been really cool and polite, some have been a little over dramatic but nothing over-bearing. Hoping to take the kids to Orlando maybe in 2022 if this shit finally dies down, its been a few years since we went. My point being, you becoming a little "Americanised" is maybe not such a bad thing as long as you dont lose your native identity altogether. I'd one friend go t Australia for only 6 months and came back with an Aussie accent, I'm like dude what the hell is up with your speech??? Other friends have been over there years an still kept their Irish accents.

      Oh for sure for sure. Luckily I live in New York...I find the north east to be very similar to the EU or commonwealth countries in their laws, i.e. reasonable, so I really enjoy living here. It's funny how different the different regions are in the US, it really should be a union of countries rather than states IMO. Orlando will be fun, a lot of fun theme parks, but maybe go in the late spring since it gets pretty blistering hot and humid there.

Most American late night shows are a bit cringe, especially Fallon at times. Conan O’Brien is really funny, though. And yes Graham Norton is awesome, love him.
