    On the other hand Endgame is the highest grossing film ever so it kinda evens out. If you want to boast about awards well then Joker has won more awards then every DCEU out there, its won more awards then the entire Nolan Trilogy, hell its won more awards then Nolan has. You can boast about Oscar success but i will remind you i doubt Joker will be winning many when 1917 exists and the Oscars also give awards to known rapists and then cheers them and defends them, it also bended the knee to Disney last year and gave Black Panther forced awards and nominations and they also snubbed Martian Scorsese for most of his career. Point is love the Oscars aren't really as credible as they think they are, i mean Citizen Kane kinda told you that decades ago.

It seems like you just want the movie to fail. I haven't seen it and neither have you. These are critic responses, not fans. They seem positive. Will the movie be great? Not necessarily. Is this a positive sign that it might be? Sure. Just keep an open mind and enjoy it for what it is. We had three great DC movies in a row with male leads. Let women fans have a couple of movies now. Women can enjoy Joker, Shazam or Aquaman and a man can easily enjoy something like BOP.

I have always said it would be very hard for critics to be negative about a movie with a female director, a female writer, a female producer, and an all-female lead cast. The movie would have to be really bad. Those early reactions are normally more positive than the average reviews later, but it is a good sign.

    I mean it has an 8.6 on IMDb, that is the highest score for any IMDb movie last year (Tied with Parasite and For Sama). This community loves the movie, then theres Ghostbusters (2016) with a 74% on RT with IMDb with a 5.2. I just about go by IMDb always. I dont really get why they can be so different, but IMDb are just several thousand fans rating it, so I trust them more.

This whole movie feels like an apology to Margot Robbie for the train wreck that was suicide squad. She's earned it because I thought she was one of the rare things that completely worked in SS (performance wise. Writing and characterization of Harley was awful)

  This movie exists because Robbie can make and do anything she wants at the moment, this isn't an apology this is Robbie wanting a BoP film (while booting its founder and leader because she wants that spotlight instead) and getting what she wants because right now Robbie is one of the most powerful actresses out there, she could have demanded a Harley/Wonder Woman film where Harley is the lead and Diana is out of character and has 5 mins of screentime, she would have got it because no one will say no to her right now. I like Robbie a lot but she clearly needs to be reigned in because sooner or later people will stop giving a fuck and move on to the latest pretty actress who seems like a nice person and can act well.

    I feel like you're vastly overestimating Margot Robbie's power. She's never won an academy award or opened a major movie. She's highly talented and well liked, but she doesn't have the clout. Warner Brothers seems to want to keep her happy, but they'd never give her the respectability of Gal Gadot or the power of Patty Jenkins.
    Robbie wanted a movie with women in empowering roles. Why not Gotham City Sirens? I don't know, but we got BOP instead. Just see this movie like a backdoor pilot for Huntress and all the others. Harley the character gets people in, then the rest of the women get to show off.

Yes Robbie has a lot of power right now most likely more then most female actresses out there right, she hasn't won a Oscar sure but Martian Scorsese never won one before The Departed so yet you telling me he never had power before then? Robbie is not at his level sure but she has two Oscar nominations, she was the shining star on SS, she's very popular, everyone wants her in their films and right now she can do or make anything she wants especially she's also a producer now and proving to be a good one.
      Gal doesn't actually have that much sway or power at all, if she wanted a team movie she wouldn't automaticity get it like Robbie did. Robbie is actually more of draw then Gadot, people love Gadot as Wonder Woman but they sure as hell won't see anything else she's in because of her name alone while Robbie is an actual draw hence why they made a great deal out of Robbie playing Sharon Tate despite the fact she might as well been an extended cameo considering she had fuck all screen time in Once Upon a Time. There's a big reason Robbie is a constant presence right now in films while Gal Gadot is still just Wonder Woman, don't take me as hating on Gal as i think she's great as Diana and she's a sweetheart in real life but she's not on the level of Robbie when it comes to sway or acting.

Not buying this. There's a reason why the review embargo lifts a day before release. WB have shown in the past that whenever they are confident in a movie, they release the reviews early (WW & Shazam) and whenever the embargo lifts right before release, they know it's a bad movie. So yeah, I believe these "reactions" are entirely bullshit and not reflective of the actual movie, but let's hope I'm wrong.

      Ik yeah but this one has a similar opening weekend to Shazam so I'm obviously going to predict less than like MoS or SS numbers. Also SS had a 133 million OW so it not a wonder that it reached 746 million overall. I would like to think itll get more cuz of some of the characters in the film and the name but im just pure guessing whenever OW numbers are officially projected. I mean hopefully I am right. Itll get around 400 million maybe. Now that I think back on it, I sounded pretty naive when I predicted my Joker numbers.

I disagree. The movie , if successful, will probably launch two other sequels, Gotham City Sirens and Sirens v Birds of Prey ( with Batgirl). BoP also links loosely with the upcoming SS. So it is an important movie for the shared universe expansion and buildup.
Birds of Prey fans should thank Margot and Harley for giving characters like Huntress and Canary a break like that.

If you want to boast about awards well then Joker has won more awards then every DCEU out there, its won more awards then the entire Nolan Trilogy, hell its won more awards then Nolan has. Is this a positive sign that it might be? Sure. Just keep an open mind and enjoy it for what it is. We had three great DC movies in a row with male leads. Let women fans have a couple of movies now. I have always said it would be very hard for critics to be negative about a movie with a female director, a female writer, a female producer, and an all-female lead cast. The movie would have to be really bad. Those early reactions are normally more positive than the average reviews later, but it is a good sign.

      I mean it has an 8.6 on IMDb, that is the highest score for any IMDb movie last year (Tied with Parasite and For Sama). This community loves the movie, then theres Ghostbusters (2016) with a 74% on RT with IMDb with a 5.2. I just about go by IMDb always. I dont really get why they can be so different, but IMDb are just several thousand fans rating it, so I trust them more.

      I feel like you're vastly overestimating Margot Robbie's power. She's never won an academy award or opened a major movie. She's highly talented and well liked, but she doesn't have the clout. Warner Brothers seems to want to keep her happy, but they'd never give her the respectability of Gal Gadot or the power of Patty Jenkins.
      Robbie wanted a movie with women in empowering roles. Why not Gotham City Sirens? I don't know, but we got BOP instead. Just see this movie like a backdoor pilot for Huntress and all the others. Harley the character gets people in, then the rest of the women get to show off.

        Gal doesn't actually have that much sway or power at all, if she wanted a team movie she wouldn't automaticity get it like Robbie did. Robbie is actually more of draw then Gadot, people love Gadot as Wonder Woman but they sure as hell won't see anything else she's in because of her name alone while Robbie is an actual draw hence why they made a great deal out of Robbie playing Sharon Tate despite the fact she might as well been an extended cameo considering she had fuck all screen time in Once Upon a Time. There's a big reason Robbie is a constant presence right now in films while Gal Gadot is still just Wonder Woman, don't take me as hating on Gal as i think she's great as Diana and she's a sweetheart in real life but she's not on the level of Robbie when it comes to sway or acting.

Not buying this. There's a reason why the review embargo lifts a day before release. WB have shown in the past that whenever they are confident in a movie, they release the reviews early (WW & Shazam) and whenever the embargo lifts right before release, they know it's a bad movie. So yeah, I believe these "reactions" are entirely bullshit and not reflective of the actual movie, but let's hope I'm wrong.

  The embargo releasing at 9 a.m. the Wednesday before is pretty standard... Shazam reviews came super early because they did a screening 2.5 weeks early the whole world could attend. 80% of studio movies are embargoed until the Wednesday before, including tons of good ones.

      I believe it... big part of why reviews being held off until the Tuesday or Wednesday before is they get the pub from the initial reactions and then get another round of pub from the reviews just before it opens.

        The dude that tweeted it said that that was why it didn't become as success as it should be. Basically, releasing the good review didn't boost the movie's revenue due to both endgame and CM stole its thunder in between the review drop and the movie's actual release.

    Worst case scenario 250-300 million, best case 400-550 million. Probably be a few million less than Shazam! if I had to guess. But I predict wrong occasionally, so maybe 450 million cuz it is a DC superhero team up film starring Harley Quinn. I mean the opening weekend predictions are less than Shazam's as well. If it does get more than Shazam! OW then itll just get over or under 400 million.

        Ik yeah but this one has a similar opening weekend to Shazam so I'm obviously going to predict less than like MoS or SS numbers. Also SS had a 133 million OW so it not a wonder that it reached 746 million overall. I would like to think itll get more cuz of some of the characters in the film and the name but im just pure guessing whenever OW numbers are officially projected. I mean hopefully I am right. Itll get around 400 million maybe. Now that I think back on it, I sounded pretty naive when I predicted my Joker numbers.

A celebration of female and queer identity in a superhero movie? Does it really matter to you? I'm neither female nor queer, but I'm all for more women and LGBT representation in movies. As a white male I feel pretty well taken care of movie wise.

Good or bad, I think this movie is a waste of a movie slot that could have been used for some other iconic DC character and take the franchise closer to a big event film like The Avengers.

  I disagree. The movie , if successful, will probably launch two other sequels, Gotham City Sirens and Sirens v Birds of Prey ( with Batgirl). BoP also links loosely with the upcoming SS. So it is an important movie for the shared universe expansion and buildup.
  Birds of Prey fans should thank Margot and Harley for giving characters like Huntress and Canary a break like that.
