As marketing continues to ramp up on Birds of Prey, that means we'll find new info in unusual locations. In this case, an art contest has confirmed a plot point we've heard rumored many times.
Talenthouse is currently hosting a Birds of Prey inspired art contest. In the setup for the contest, there is a new synopsis that adds some details to the story.
You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
It had been suspected for some time that Cass was the lynchpin to the story, but we still aren't clear on why Roman would want to take out a child.
Additionally, it appears that the film's story may be told in the first person by Harley. While the trailer seemed to work that way, it wasn't clear if the film would follow that as well.
The cast of Birds of Prey will be in Brazil for CCXP in Dec., so hopefully, some more details will emerge from their presentation.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask.
The Birds of Prey movie is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
