Black Canary and Zsasz chase down Orphan in new Birds of Prey set video

Shooting continues on Birds of Prey, and the latest from the set is a video showing a surprising partnership.

It had been assumed from the teaser video that Zsasz (Chris Messina) was working with Roman Sionis/Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). However, in the set video it appears that he is cooperating with Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) as they try to chase down Orphan (Ella Jay Basco). After they fail to catch her, they appear to retreat down the street arguing with one another.

The quality of the video unfortunately prevents us from being able to read the city name on the door of the police car. It's unclear what city this scene is taking place in, but it doesn't feel very much like something that would be doubling as Gotham.

We've now seen Harley (Margot Robbie), Canary, Zsasz, and Orphan on outdoor shoots. All we're missing is Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Sionis. Something tells us we'll be seeing them soon.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.

I don’t run the site anymore. So as a fan, it’s an interesting rumor. But that’s not a reliable source. I wouldn’t get too excited about it unless you start hearing it from sites that have been reliable in the past.
Edit: Apparently this news leaked out of a recent test screening, so there could be truth to it.

Pretty sure Zsasz isn't a henchman in the iterations I've read?
He always struck me as an unhinged solo force of nature - pretty terrifying in the earlier books.

Are they making him into some average goon in this? Great.

Zsasz has kinda flipped back and forth in the comics. I've seen him working with people before and also being totally on his own (usually on his own is when they're writing him the more sadistic animalistic way). My guess is in this he'll be working for Sionis. Probably similar character and personality he'd have in the more recent comics but just with more of an agenda. Also possible they're going the Gotham rout with him where hes less psychotic and more of a ruthless hitman.
