15 Years of Coverage (2010-2025)
James Gunn might bring back some of the original crew for The Suicide Squad, but Will Smith won’t be one of them.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Smith is out due to scheduling conflicts.
Despite Smith’s departure, it has been reported that Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) will be back. She may be the only character tasked with bridging the gap between sequel and relaunch for this franchise.

Sounds like they need someone better. It's time

Oh yes. Please.
Please bring back joe manganiello, he now has a role to fill in his contract.
Only acceptable replacement
He wouldn't really fit into the tone of Gunn, or previous SS. I'm afraid he will be just another Katana with that group. He's good enough to have his own solo film, or feature as villain in future Batman/Nightwing films.
well if he isn't in this movie, I am honestly not convinced we are ever going to get to see him tbh which pisses me off.
Anyways, what tone? The humor? Katana's problem is that she was barely utilized. Not that she felt out of place. Thats how I felt at least. I think he would fit fine. Guardians is more goofy where as Suicide Squad I imagine just more gross bad guy humor. And you know Deathstroke was in the comics right? If anything the whole point is that he is supposed to be the more serious one of the group I would say. I don't think this is really an issue personally. You just have to handle it well. You have to balance the humor with the serious aspects and also make sure the humor fits the characters and context. And keep in mind, the first movie is irrelevant since this is a new take. Deadshot isn't really a wacky goofy character, and yet he is one of the prime members of the Squad. Its a team of bad guys, not a team of goofball misfits.
She was used in the original complete cut of the movie before the reshoots.
This is the only way I’ll forgive losing Will’s Deadshot
So that's it, huh?
Horrible.
The Fresh Prince of Aladdin. WTF Disney?
we are not some kinda Suicide Squad anymore
tmrw's news, "Will Smith Returns for 'Wild Wild West' Sequel"
I literally LOL’d. Thank you 😆
I’m not trolling but isn’t a “failed abortion” the same as birth? Nonetheless, I agree about Viola returning!
You're 100% right 😅 my comment was pretty stupid.
damn, he was one of the stand-outs of the previous movie, should stay IMO
Shame as i liked him in the role.
"So what is this? Some kind of scheduling conflict?"
https://uploads.disquscdn.c... Perhaps he can be in the third one. You can't recast Will Smith.😂 So I'd just leave the character out, and build the entire franchise around Viola Davis' Amanda Waller.
He's almost definitely not coming back. He and Gunn don't like each other.

Oh that's nice. That makes me happy.
Thank the lord.
I thought he was great in SS. For the most part I thought SS did a good job with the characters and getting their personalities right.
The only two I really enjoyed were Viola Davis and surprisingly Jai Courtney. I won't mind dumping the rest.
Add gangsta Killer Croc and Jokerleto getting the boot, and we good. Just make Suicide Squad like the comics.
I'm surprised at this as Deadshot could've been a good team leader this time and also Smith was generally liked in the role. Still, it doesnt say anything about being recast, so he may show up again.
Im interested to know who will appear in the sequel. Hopefully Gunn can deliver a fantastic movie.
Well, shit. That sucks. I thought he was a great Deadshot.
Hopefully he’ll show up again sometime.
Good, he sucks! He hasn't done a good movie in years. He will singe handedly ruin Aladdin.
I mean it still could happen, but if not oh well. Will Smith is too much of a meme right now.
i really wish they would reboot, sure the current casting was perfect but WB fucked too much up
Tom Hardy as Deadshot should be much better than this man.
It's new DCEU, another beginning. There will be few casualties, but we move on. While I enjoyed his character in SS, I don't think he's essential for next one.
Finally! Some good news...
meh
No! SS needs Deadshot!
He has Bad Boys 2 or 3 or something to do. He would have hung up SS production.
Only you.
Gunn's a pedo, you sicko.
Shrivel dick?? You been looking yourself at the mirror or what. Lol
Sigh. What a shame. His Floyd Lawton really did a good Will Smith impression.
