Yesterday, Jason Momoa shared a new Aquaman poster and teased something "exciting" for today. Everyone was expecting a trailer, and we got that and so much more!

Check out a brand new 5-minute Aquaman trailer above. It's packed with tons of new footage and action, and ends with our first real look at Jason Momoa in the classic orange and green Aquaman costume. Warner Bros. even released an official hi-res still, which you can check out below.

  the constant and artificial jokes is what sells now, all superhero movies must have it or otherwise critics and viewers complain, DC has totally gave up and is just gonna start cloning the mcu formula, i have been saying this for a long time now and we keep getting more proof of it

      The film industry and all their bullshit killed my love for most of these movies, which is something very hard to achieve. The problem i have is that it looks like a generic bunch of stuff i already saw, i like what i see but i am sick of simple, humorous cookie cutter origin stories, DC was trying to do something different and now is just mcu everywhere.

        It's not MCU just because it has a few jokes. Those idiotic jokes are in line with his character that we saw in JL (Which I doubt was all Whedon).
        It's also not MCU just because it's not monochrome. You got to understand, MOST movies are not monochrome. That's the norm. Snyder's style is the exception.
        Not using Snyder's grimdark style does not suddenly mean they are copying the MCU.

        It goes beyond that just the bad jokes, i dont know how to put it specifically into words, is the tone, how it looks, how it feels. We knew JL was gonna be more comedic but this movie is like a restart like WW was and Shazam is gonna be and etc.
        I am not saying it has to be monochrome, Snyder movies are very colorful if you have seen them.
        In regards to the humro, is like there is one huge blanket of just one sense of humor that gets spread in every single movie, i call it "the disney jokes", you can see them everywhere, and i suspect they are the fault of producers. Infinity War had them by example, they felt very out of place.

        they feel like that because of the way the trailer is edited. You have all this epic music playing and then it stops suddenly as something that is intended to be funny happens. I do not imagine it will feel like that in the actual context of the film. It will be more like Wonder woman where its just some occasional banter. Wan said this movie was inspired by a Raiders of the Lost Ark type adventure film. You eve seen those movies? There was plenty of zany humor.

        They aren't copying any formula. The movies are made however the director envisions it. If that means there are some jokes, then so be it.

        It's a kind of a known fact... But is far from obvious. What I'm saying is that the critisism was for her lack of expresions... not because she's not laughing due to the lack of jokes.
        Consider the fact that she's not a well-known character a la Batman, Ironman, Sups or Spider-Man.

        Logan was well shot and well acted, but the script was a MEH as big as a house, the "villains" were crap, all three of them, it lacked weird shit/characters/science fiction, the third act was weak, the violence was tame, the way Logan died was 100% stupid and that "he is dying" was a cheap excuse to create suspense, i found it overall a MEH movie

      It's not anecdotal; it might be more accurate to say it is an exception to a trend.
      I'm happy Logan was accepted. Obviously whether a movie becomes popular or not is more complicated than the tone alone, but I do see lots of people complaining about tone in DC's films lately.

        I think that the tone can hurt a movie more if the movie itself is of poor quality. For example, i didnt like JL or SS but i find them entertaining, but if you put the same tone BvS had on those movies, i dont think i wouldve enjoyed it as much.

        I think part of the problem is 'tone' is ambiguous.
        I don't have a problem with the DCEU wanting to be more serious, to focus on things like the reaction to the heroes rather than the heroes themselves, to try and convey the problems their actions would cause and how the world would react....
        All of that is considered tone...
        But, the needlessly dull colors, the bordering on campy ANGER everyone has, the framing and shots and focus....all of that gets classed as tone as well.
        I have a problem with the latter, not the former.

The problem with the DCEU is that it um... how shall I say it... oh yeah, SUCKS. The movies suck. The scripts are poor, the acting pathetic, and the stories not compelling. I know there are fans of Snyder and what he'd done, but in reality, MoS, BvS, SS, and JL were bad. Like "I can't believe how bad this is" bad. Every one of them. That's why when people see the DC logo, they run.

      yes, but this is the mcu humor, that is my problem, Wonder Woman had jokes but they flowed naturally within the story and they were not there to kill the tension and mood of any scene (that i can remember) the "pee joke" was just ridiculous

Black Manta looks AMAZING.
The CGI was my biggest concern and it also looks very well pollished.
Dude; if it delivers on all of these promises then I see no problem in it defeating the other two big movies released on the same weekend. (Alita: Battle Angel ; Bumblebee)

Jokes fell flat but it looks okay. Can't wait to see a outcast loner who is the rightful king try to find a magical artifact to help overthrow the would be king who is you guessed it a family member. Maybe the other stuff will overcome that old hat of a plot.

Amazing what a well made "trailer" can do as this looks FANTASTIC!!!! Black Manta looks sick, Heard actually seems ok as Mera and the action looks amazing, even the CGI looks better now. Finally yeah the classic costume looks brilliant on him. Can't wait.

Huh, it looks good but nothing special, it certainly is gonna be entertainning, but it also looks generic and the CGI is meh. Too much of an obvious mcu movie formula/tone rip off for my taste, a colorful spectacle and that is it.

        MoS was kinda the same in that aspect, but it was also totally different, the tone in first place, it was more mature and serious, let me put it this way: if they change Aquaman for any random Marvel character, you would not know the difference, now all superhero movies have this "comedic and self aware, light and broad appeal for the whole family" tone, is all the same, Infinity War tried something different but it still had dumb, forced jokes

    Dont get me wrong people, the movie looks good, it looks very entertainning and well made (not the CGI thought), but it also looks generic as hell, and the jokes are cringe worthy because they are doing the same thing as the mcu, which also has cringe worthy forced humor. Is gonna be a simple, light and predictable origin story we already saw a lot of times before, same story as the Black Panther movie, different setting. At this point we should get more diverse stuff in the genre or at least dont just copy and paste a formula just because is sucessful. And i am trying to keep the wall of text at a minimum.

        I like what i see by the way, except the jokes, is just that they have kinda lost me from so many fuck ups and is hard to be excited because you never know what you are gonna get in the theater, and the good superhero movies are very few.
        Do you really want to know what i want from superhero movies, both Marvel and DC? I want greek tragedies, which is the base for all good superhero stories, i want deep, philosophical complex stories with moral dilemmas, with humor only when is not out of place or out of character, and a serious and adult tone (which does not means dark precisely) that is not trying to appeal to the kids in the audience and fits every character.
        They cant all characters have all "witty quips" as if they were Spiderman, they cant all movies have the exact same structure and tone, see what the character needs and tell a good story using film as the artistic medium it is instead of making bubblegum movies.
        The reason comic books and its characters are sucessful is because they are a certain way, dont change it to appeal to wider audiences.
        I never complained about the dark tone, if it is well made and it fits the character, i dont mind, but i do complain about the comedy tone because is being applied to everything and even Marvel got success doing so, at the expense of making good movies, like Thor Ragnarok.
        Just do good movies, that is all that i ask.

    This is one of the few sites where active Snyder discussion still happens. Chris makes it that way by making every teeny tiny tidbit of Snyder info front page news. You won't find other sites posting his vero posts as frontpage news, for example, because the interest just isn't there. Such a shame.

      The color is not really the issue, i think it fits perfectly in his colorful world, it wouldn't work in a snyder film though. Im not liking the dishwashing gloves though.

        The way the green is dim in this shot here against the shining orange reminds me of how the dim blue in Man of Steel (which was brightened up in BvS) made the shining red of the 'S' shield stand out, as well as the cape.

        Dont get me wrong, i love supes and bats suit, they look great. Aas a matter of fact, the mos suit is the best looking suit ever created, but i couldn't picture aquaman's suit in BvS because the colors wouldn't be as apparent as seen in the picture above.

        That's less the suit itself and more the lighting/atmosphere/filters. I think the suit does fit in.
        Looking at it the other way around, I could see the BvS Batman and Superman appearing in a James Wan Justice League next to this Aquaman easily. :)
        It might still look good in BvS-style, though. We know Zack would honor the shining effect since he did that for Supes in MoS.

        I understand why BvS suit bothers you, but let's see this way:
        - MoS suit looks great before or after post-production
        - BvS suit looks pajamas before post-production
        Same for BvS Batman suit, it doesn't look good before post-production, but great in the movie, with the right filter that Zack Snyder & Larry Fond are using... wondering why I cannot say the same for the JL's filter and suits...

        I seriously love the way the red shines in the Sun like that. The darker blue helps that stand out. Pure majesty.
        The musculature looks much more natural and less like a highlighted bodysuit (except for when you get a close-up of the abs). The light lands on the contours naturally instead of seeming artificially highlighted, which JL's suit handled horribly.
        I'm also a fan of the 'fatter' S symbol. :)

        Yeah i thought about that possibility after posting, but the fact that he said he must get use to the new suit and that he doesnt know how he feels about it yet, made me come to the conclusion that he likes the old suit better.

Is nobody gonna mention the really bad and forced humor? I know is easy to get carried away by the good stuff, but it seems like they are gonna make the same mistake the mcu does all the time. And Mera looks stunning.

    If i want to laugh, i watch a comedy. That is not why i watch superhero movies (both Deadpool movies are awful by the way), and i dont mind humor as long as is in the right character (like Spiderman) or comes naturally from the situations in each scene or a movie, which is teh exact opposite of what the mcu does.

      That’s subjective. There’s a couple scenes that amp it up, but the bulk of the humor stems from the characters they established to be witty. The other characters really only have a one-liner or two; which it’s out of the ordinary in action/adventure movies.

  It's just cheesy flirtatious banter between Arthur & Mera. Given what the scene is, it didn't feel horribly out of place imho. Now, if they start shoehorning it constantly throughout every single portion of the movie, and they feel the need to undermine any bit of tension, or what's supposed to be emotional moments like they did in JL, THEN I will personally have an issue. Only time will tell.

Eh. This didn't really change my opinion on much.
Not a fan of the jokes but it is in line with his character from what we saw in JL. He still seems very much like Aquabro.
The chase scene looks very cool and innovative.
Worried they are cramming too much in one film...Black Manta (and thus his origin story), the trench, and Arthur discovering his history,...AND what looks like an adaptation of Throne of Atlantis....that's a lot.
Not a fan of how they talk to each other under water. I mean....telepathy would have made a lot more sense. How are they not yelling? It's weird but not a big deal, just a curiosity.
Also, this seems less like a trailer and more like a comiccon presentation.
Also also, when does this take place? Is it a prequel to BvS and JL, because in those movies he already had his trident....
Still going to torrent it. Sorry DC but you lost my trust with BvS and it will take a lot to get it back. DCEU at least. I'll go see the Joker movie fo sho.

    All types. Just not willing to pay for DCEU again unless they actually turn it around.
    I paid for myself and 3 friends to see BvS on opening night because I was excited, and it was such a freaking betrayal and disappointment.
    If this is good, I might go and see Shazam. But I'm not going to just assume it is because of the trailer. Also, Furious 7 was terrible to me, so...there is that.

This film has such an insanely unique visual feel that I'm totally in love with.
Actually got a bit emotional when he steps out in the classic costume, a true shining hero. Felt a tug of destiny there.
Hype increased from about 70% to 200%. Great trailer.
