Zack Snyder shares 'Justice League' photo from deleted cemetery scene

In Justice League, we see The Flash and Cyborg at a cemetery digging up Superman's casket but that was a Joss Whedon reshoot. It wasn't the scene that Zack Snyder originally shot.

As we learned from a Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot interview last year, Aquaman and Wonder Woman were at the cemetery as well. Aquaman offers Wonder Woman a drink from his flask, which she politely declines.

Now thanks to a new Zack Snyder post on Vero, we have our first look at the deleted cemetery scene from Justice League. In the photo above, we get to see Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Aquaman all in coats at the cemetery. "This crew," Snyder captioned the photo.

Snyder has been sharing a lot of photos of deleted scenes lately. Hopefully there are many more to come!

well their plan is to literally bring him back to life because he isn't "Actually" completely dead...so...the whole scenario is weird and I honestly think thats kind of the point. Jason was talking about a deleted part of that scene where he offered whiskey to Diana I think and the way he described, it was clearly also meant to be a comedic moment

Nicolas Cage is an Oscar Winner but it doesn't mean his performance in National Treasure is one for the greats. Whedon's writing was pretty poor i agree in JL but he's arguably more successful in film and TV then Chris Terrio and is far better at comic book stuff, also Terrio has said in the past he's not fan of comic book characters and didn't know much about the characters when writing them so he's hardly great himself in the DCEU as BvS poor writing proved.

      And Cyborg was originally supposed to see a vision of Darkseid and the "Knightmare" when he interfaced with the Mother Box. You can tell thanks to the leaked deleted scenes, the fact that Cyborg's suit attacks Superman (the catalyst for this vision), and that Lois originally arrived at the scene on her own free will (she's out of breath from running, and there's a shot of her from the first trailer).
      Plus, the rumor was Wonder Woman was supposed to fail saving people during her rescue scene, leading to the realization that the world needs Superman. Otherwise, if she can do it all on her own, why do we need the Justice League?

      Yes it did, since The Avengers Hollywood has been trying to recapture the shared universe what with the DCEU, Universal's Dark Universe, Paramount's Transformers Universe, Fox's X-Men films and so on. Since Avengers the idea of shared universe has been the goal of most big studios who want a piece of that pie what the MCU made and made successful.

      Paramount is trying to launch a Transformers shared universe, Universal is or was trying to do a "Dark" Universe, we have The Conjuring Universe, The Dark Tower was meant to be the start of universe level franchise, Sony tried and failed to start a Spider-Man universe what its actually trying to do again starting with Venom, there was talks of branching out The Hunger Games, Fantastic Beasts expanded to be more universe level like, we also have the Godzilla and King Kong Universe, Fox is expanding X-Men beyond the core films, Star Wars is pretty much MCU but with SW characters and then we have WB what very quickly tried to get its own universe with DC starting with BvS.
      All of that started after the major success of The Avengers and the MCU, Hollywood saw the success and every studio wanted their own Shared Universe because they foolishly thought people want that now. End of the day The Avengers kick started a lot of what we are getting Blockbuster wise now.

      Considering Infinity War will no doubt make at least a Billion i would say people still love Avengers and that style of film.
      As for Ruffalo well regardless on who you prefer he is the preferred choice of the general audience and he helped make Hulk popular in the GA eyes again. Honestly Eric Bana is my favorite version but i love all 3 versions so i'm not bothered.

      If a film makes a ton of money, is loved audiences and is loved by critics it means its a good or great film, having all those 3 things makes a great film. Still not a fan of the team bringing Supes back instead of his just coming back on his own - Snyder Cut or not - but I’m sure it would at least be improved in some way in the Snyder Cut, even if only due to the inclusion of the Codex being part of the process.

My problem is why did the dirt move on the coffin? Even with the Codex it shouldn't have moved as he required the Mother Box for his.resurrection and before that was 100% dead.

  Yeah, him just coming back on his own would be so much better emotionally, as well as for explaining that scene.
  However, I can offer 2 explanations.
  First, it was just a fourth-wall-breaking moment with no real canonical bearing to inform the audience of Superman’s inevitable return.
  Or second, upon re-watching the scene in which Bruce discusses the possibility of bringing him back with the team, I have noticed he repeatedly asserts the idea that we don’t really know how truly “dead” Superman is. “We don’t know what state he’s in,” is one line he uses, and another, more in-depth description is that Superman’s “cells [were] lying dormant, but incapable of decay,” so maybe he wasn’t really completely dead after all.

  I can only think of one way to do this scene better and they basically need to add one character. Let me explain:
  Grave robbing is immoral an act that only Bad guys do, on the other hand, dirt floating above ground means presence of a Kryptonian. In other words a Bad Kryptonian should've been the one who dug superman's grave as per Darkseid's order. And who better to do it than Supergirl and I mean an indoctrinated Bad Supergirl. In Superman Apocalypse, Supergirl became one of Darkseids Furies. So it makes total sense that kara zor el is working with Steppenwolf. Not only that because by doing so ManofSteel tie in comic is now connected to DCEU. Another thing, Steppenwolf is a weak & bleak of a villain but by adding Supergirl into the mix it would cenrtainly add so much to the threat. With CW doing a supergirl elseworld villain and people liking it then it is not actually a bad idea.

I love a great B&W photo as much as the next guy and i myself love taking B&W shots but why does Snyder always post B&W photos? Can't we have some colored photos as well? Also unless a "Snyder Cut" is happening (i doubt it) and he's teasing it here why does the guy feel the need to constantly post all this stuff and if we are being honest troll his fans with what could have been.

      Because I really like Zack Snyder movies in general, I love Man of Steel (my favorite superhero movie among the MCU and DCEU). Have you watched the 188 min extended cut of Superman 1978 or Superman 2 Donner Cut (release in 2006)? If your answer is yes, then you may understand why I'll care.

      80% of the movie was snyders, nothing that was cut couldve save the movie. I really liked mos as well and liked where it was going, until i saw bvs i knew he didn't know what he was doing by wasting 4 story lines in one single movie that was done poorly. Jl was doomed from the beginning by leaving supes out of the first jl movie ever until the last 20 min. He failed Miserably and i wish all those pictures or whatever material he have left just disappears, so we can finally move on to Better things.

      I understand you didn't like the death of Superman in BvS, and you think it was too soon for you, well I liked it (even if I would have prefer a Doomsday with white hair and more bones) and I wanted to see what Justice League by Snyder was going to offer and now I can't. We don't know what percent of the movie was done by Snyder, but I know that :
      - The awesome epic soundtrack established from Hans Zimmer was replaced by garbage noises (except Sigrid). "80%" means nothing with a forgettable sountrack when you're used to epic.
      - Gold level scenes were deleted from the theatrical cut, like the black suit scene and Alfred scene. W.H.Y. ?
      - They let a garbage CGI scene as a first scene for the movie. Some
      other scenes with Cavill are also frightening like when he smiles.
      - Whedon reshoot worthless scenes (in a very bad way) in order to justify his salary. Tell me, why did he reshoot the Cyborg scene looking from the window? Why did he inject a pure vomit green screen with Ben Affleck in front of Ezra? Was his mission to sabotage WB studios?
      - From the Behind the Scenes, I am pretty sure at 90% that a flying Man of Steel-like scene was deleted after Superman get his suit.
      - People complained about "the killing rule" in BvS, but they've just killed Batman himself in JL. Batman does awesome subtil jokes, not what we have seen in JL.
      I like long movies (2h45min), but instead of injecting poor scenes, they would rather didn't reshoot some useless one liners and done a less-than-2h (maybe 1h45min) with more quality (something that Zack Snyder knows). You may call a Snyder cut as an "unwatchable movie" like WB does, but it doesn't really matter since WB say what they want when they want.

      Only problem with your argument is that whedon didnt have an hour worth of footage in the movie, and i doubt snyders final cut was 3 hours, wb wouldnt allow that with reason. Anywho, snyder had the most influence and footage, not to mention 275m already spent, so whedon only had 25m for reshoots, which isnt much.

      I believe it was Larry Fong who already said there was at least 3 hours of footage he worked with that he would love to see be released in a director's cut.
      Again, don't know where you're pulling your numbers from, but if I don't care how much Whedon had, he left an undeniable mark on the movie, and it is no longer Snyder's film. Snyder's film was ripped away from him and drastically changed. Even he and his son have more or less acknowledged this.

I never heard about the fountainhead, but none of them are blockbusters, and probably wont do very good at the b.o, being in charge of such a huge franchise, i thought snyder was gonna be part of the biggest directors, but instead, he tarnished whatever thing he had going.

Never liked the idea of the League being responsible for Superman's resurrection. I'd honestly have preferred if Steppenwolf was the one to bring him back to life, using the motherboxes. Then we'd have an evil Superman (which would've made an impact) and he could be Steppenwolf's ultimate weapon against Earth, making sure he doesn't fail a second time.

  If we are to believe the rumors, and we shouldn't, the League in the Batcave was still pretty much the same in the Snyder cut. It was still Bruce's idea to bring him back, which is so reckless and completely antithetical to the core character of Batman.
  Superman's resurrection was rushed. No surprise really, as his death was equally rushed. It's really frustrating to see them ruin what could've been a great and powerful story-arc on film.
  Now, we'll never see the Death of Superman on film ever again. What a waste.

    Well unless we ever get something officially disclosing what was in the Snyder Cut, we’ll never know, but a ton of stuff in that rumored leak did end up getting confirmed or at least would’ve made a whole lot a sense being true, so though I agree that rumors should be treated as rumors and not fact, I tend to lean toward believing a lot of that particular one.
    How is bringing back Superman before Steppenwolf does it in a way that makes him an evil overlord who destroys the world antithetical to his character exactly?
    Yeah, while I don’t agree necessarily that his death was rushed, the resurrection DEFINITELY could’ve been handled better in multiple ways.

      I was talking about the final cut, in which Bruce wants to resurrect Superman for selfish reasons, completely ignoring that they could potentially create Doomsday 2.0.
      Even in your "Snyder Cut" (which I don't believe anyways, and you really need to stop saying some of these things are "confirmed" when they self-evidently are not), while it's slightly better, it's still not in lign with Batman as a character.
      The risk of raising another Doomsday would far outweigh the potential gain of resurrecting Superman, in the paranoid mind of someone like Bruce. Even if Steppenwolf wanted to do it first, Bruce would probably want to destroy whatever tech Steppenwolf would use to do so, or he'd destroy Superman's body with Kryptonite, or whatever.
      Choosing to raise Superman back from the dead would be at the bottom of that list. It is, and has always been, a stupid decision to have the League bring Supes back to life.
      As for Superman's death... When your main alpha and omega of superheroes is killed, and the overwhelming majority of the audience, simply does not care one bit... then you have a massive problem. And this is largely because Superman wasn't a well developed enough character for people to care. And this is because they only had two movies. It was a mistake, plain and simple.

    I agree. Even though I want to see the Snyder cut, the inherent idea of the League being responsible for bringing Superman back to life will never sit right with me. I would have preferred if Superman's resurrection was independent from the rest of the plot. I would have preferred if Batman bringing together the League was in Superman's name, but that would be where it ended for him with honoring Clark.
    Ala the Return of Superman story, it would have been cool if there was a "false" Superman (obviously, doing the four Supermen would have been too much, but at least an combination of the traits of Eradicator and Cyborg Superman) would have worked) and maybe he was under Steppenwolf's control. Then maybe Kelex or an awakened kryptonian presence (maybe tying back into the open-pod in Man of Steel - I know the prequel comic revealed it to be Kara, but they could retcon that)
    could steal Superman's body and regenerate him in the Scout ship, using up the last of its energies so that Superman would literally be the LAST living remnant of all of Krypton and he'd come back to take down the false Superman and help the League defeat Steppenwolf.

I think Supes coming back should have been a narritive all through the film. As Batman tries to form the League we see Superman come back but he's weak and confused. So he keeps hidden and goes to the fortress of Solitide, where Jor El tells him to wear the Black suit, as it will speed up his recovery. Jor El tells Supes about Steppenwolf and his threat to earth, Clark must choose to become Superman again or not. Steppenwolf and the JL both consider trying to resurrect Supes and race to his grave only to be shocked that its already empty. Clark decides he needs to see Lois and his mother before deciding what to do. After a tearful reunion with the women he loves he goes and joins the League in the end and helps defeat Steppenwolf. Something like that would have been better i think. It gives Supes a stronger arc and more screen time. I know I'm no screen writer but you can get the gist of what I'm going for.

      "Super long" is one thing; three full hours is another. Moviegoers don't want to hear "three hours." Paramount tried to pass Titanic off as "2 hours, 74 minutes"! Do not cite a 2h 45m Transformers movie here. That's not three hours.
      Every year there are several major releases in the 160-minute range. Maybe in the 170s (which even Christopher Nolan hasn't reached, btw). 180 is a line studios don't want to cross. I'm fairly certain no wide release in 2017 was three full hours. Snyder was delusional to think he could do it.

      That is kind of where he wants to go and he wants it outside the DCEU, but the rumor is WB wants him to keep it within the DCEU, so there is some tug-of-war happening I think behind the scenes. The PR press states he is fine with keeping it in the DCEU, but I don't think that is actually hashed out yet. We won't know for sure until his script is complete.

      In isolation the opening Batman scene was cool (and clearly the only part of the reshoots that engaged Whedon). But in the context of the story it doesn't make a lot of sense since in the very next scene Bruce Wayne has a full beard. Did a month pass between those two scenes? Or did he grow the beard overnight?
      I'm guessing that the only reason that the Batman scene was inserted (as well as the sh*tty cellphone Superman video) was WB's desire to introduce those characters to the story rather than the slow build Snyder was likely advocating for.

    I wouldn't say I'm a "massive" Snyder fan, but I give credit to Whedon for his "Save one" scene and I quite enjoyed Aquaman's lasso of truth confession. As for BvS, I just don't get why WB would ALLOW a 3-hour cut to be completed in full with Visual FX, sound, editing, music, etc. all ready to go and then order a recut at the last minute. If they ordered a trim-down during the assembly/rough cut stages, that'd be a different story, but it just seems like a waste of money and time to do that and because of it, they suffered for it.
    I mean, you don't have to be a Snyder fan to think that such spastic decisions are examples of poor management skills.

    Look again, I never said that. I think the idea that some of my fellows spread that everyone was too stupid or we are too smart is impossible to back and potentially very detrimental. Rather, I find it much more in line with reality that it ultimately comes down to bias - people CHOOSE not to get aspects of the movie, because they’ve already decided how to feel about it or because they’re allowing preconceived notions dictate their perspective or they are giving into outside influence or what have you.

It could have been so epic, i mean there is greatness there in the DCEU. It just needs to be fine tuned and brought out and then it could be something truelly special.   I'm not in Snyder's or Whedon's camp. I liked MOS a lot better than Superman Returns, but BvS was baffling to me. I don't know if Snyder's version of Justice League would have been better, but I prefer movies that reflect a director's vision, rather than nervous studio executives' notes.
  I don't think there'll be a Snyder cut very soon, but it's possible one will appear after enough time has passed. CGI is progressing to the point where it wouldn't be necessary for WB to spend millions. If Snyder had a team of a few loyal techs (a justice league, if you will) then maybe in ten years or so they can sit down and do post production on their own.
  There was a time when a band needed the support of a record label and a professional recording studio to produce an album. Now musicians have more capabilities with their macbook pros than George Martin did at Abbey Road studios recording Sgt. Pepper's.
  It's possible Justice League will end up like Blade Runner, with various versions for fans to choose from. I just assume it won't be anytime soon.

    I am clearly NOT a Snyder fan and could care less to see more of his crap work, but for those that do, taking my ill begotten feelings for Snyder out of it, I don't think this will ever happen. I compare it to Blade Runner. There were several versions of that movie released. It finally took Ridley 7 years later, and then I think there was one more ultimate cut a couple years after that, to release a director's cut..and then ultimate version.
    The only difference is with Ridley Scott and Snyder, Ridley had a working relationship with the studio to come back and create another cut. As it stands, WB wants nothing to do with Snyder. They scrapped all his future plans and said he will only show on WW2 as a producer in name only. Unless that relationship changes, there is not going to be any Snyder cut.

    Yeah, I just don't understand why Snyder and his pals keep teasing the existence of the Snyder cut if it supposedly "doesn't exist" or will "never be released." They have nothing to gain from stringing their fanbase along and Snyder has debunked rumors surrounding his films in the past.       Even then, that wouldn't be admirable as it's still a "tease" for the sake of "teasing." Want to keep the fans flamed? TELL US then what you desire to do and stop being coy. I think if Snyder and co. literally just came out and said "We hear you - now make WB hear you as well" or something to that degree, the flames wouldn't just be "fanned" - They'd get gasoline poured on them.
      So hopefully, the teasing is really because Snyder and co. are actually working with WB to get the JL Director's Cut released and not just stringing people along.
