Zack Snyder shares photos of deleted 'Justice League' scenes

Over the last week, Justice League director Zack Snyder has been sharing photos on Vero from deleted scenes that didn't make it into the theatrical cut of the movie.

The first involves Jason Momoa's Aquaman in the back of a truck. We actually got a brief look at this scene in an AT&T Justice League trailer. Next up is Ezra Miller as Barry Allen in an outfit that we didn't even see in Justice League. We've previously seen Kiersey Clemons as Iris West in a leaked scene that was cut, and Snyder shared a photo that he took of her. Lastly, we see a conversation between Diane Lane's Martha and Amy Adams' Lois Lane. This was likely removed in favor of the conversation we got in the theatrical cut.

Speaking of that conversation between Martha and Lois, Warner Bros. even released an official still photo from that scene just days before Justice League hit theaters.

I have a feeling Snyder has a lot more Justice League content to share. Hopefully he does so over the coming days and weeks. Stay tuned to Batman News for more.

    i would argue showing us what could have been in the film makes it worse. Ignorance is bliss right? WHen JL first came out the reception seemed fairly mixed positive. It wasn't until all the stuff about the extensive changes came out that people started getting A LOT more critical and frustrated that the movie we got was clearly not what was originally intended. Again, if we truly are never going to see this stuff, then I would rather not be bothered with the fsct that it "was' a thing at one point

      I would say that hiding stuff would be an insult to everyone who put had their effort into the film. Terrio said that JL was one of the hardest script he has written, but what we got in theaters definitely didn’t reflect his words.

        Oh wow. That is like one of the biggest reasons. The fact that what we got doesn't reflect Mr. Terrios writing is clear enough that we would have a very different film with the Snyder cut. I think we should start calling it the Snyder and Terrio cut!

        it was already an insult to those involved by making so many changes. What we got is the version of the movie the studio intended for us to see. Backtracking and showing us that it could have been something different literally doesn't seem helpful in any way shape or form UNLESS it means we are actually going to see it eventually. If we are never going to see it. Then I don't care. All it does is add to the frustration. It literally accomplishes nothing else. Ignorance is bliss. What if what we got WAS what Snyder wanted us to see and we were completely unaware of any extensive reshoots?

      It's already a mess of a film. Making it seem worse by contrast won't change that - and fans have already been doing it for months now regardless of Zack's recent contributions. The changes are widely known, and a number of them are obvious from the trailers.
      This is just the reality of the film now, and there's no avoiding it. I think WB should embrace it, if only to save face, but what do I know? :P
      Seeing glimmers of what might have been is therapeutic for me and others in that it's comforting to know those better things at least existed once, and that the lost vision was something I can at least daydream about based on something tangible and exciting, as opposed to being force-fed something cold and horrible and just having to live with that as all JL ever could have been.

        well be that as it may I am not going to waste my time thinking about what could have been when it will never be. And it being what it is doesn't change how I feel about the whole situation. It wouldn't have been the reality if WB had done a better job at keeping all this drama more hush hush. And Snyder constantly posting pictures of his supposed version of the film literally helps nothing. If its nothing more than meaningless teasing, it is actually rather annoying. What is he trying to do? Gain our pity? How does this help anything?

        Maybe he's just trying to sympathize with us because we've been asking for it for months. Maybe he's sharing out of a sense of community love and it's all harmless.
        Just because you'd rather be blissfully ignorant doesn't mean no one else wants to see what could have been. I'd say they have damn good reason to want to, too.
        The whole "I wish they covered it up better so no one would be upset" idea turns my stomach. They screwed up. The fans deserve better treatment, and so did Zack.
        Trying to hide that is scandalous at best. Let's be real; they wouldn't be doing it for your sake, but to maximize their ability to continue doing these things unchallenged while profiting.

        i just dont see how this accomplishes anything for anyone. its completely pointless. All it does is piss people off more and more. The ONLY purpose it serves is to, as you said, expose what was done to this film. It only helps you if you plan on holding a personal grudge against the studio and need some sort of proof to rationalize it. Thats completely silly to me. Like I said, if nothing more is going to be done with Justice League, then I am not going to waste my time dwelling on it. Thats not a good way to live. I just do NOT see how this could be "therapeutic" for you at all. How is it comforting to know that there is something better out there but we will never see it? I would think that would result in the exact opposite.

        Would I prefer it have been the final product, and do I lament that it isn't? Of course, but my joy that something amazing was planned outweighs that.
        I can't speak for everyone, but it's just nice. I like imagining what they were going to do, and forming my own little head canon that gels with BvS and MoS better. :P

        I'm just not sure at all how you figure that his version could have been better. What indicators are there out there at all that what Zack Snyder made was better than what we got? As a matter of fact I pretty strongly believe that when his version of Justice League was screen to audiences the reactions were just about "unwatchable". It's like the ultimate cut to Batman versus Superman. Yeah there are better things about it then there were in the original, but all that extra couldn't fix all the extremely deep flaws with the story that Zack Snyder clearly just did not understand.

        i have hope that one day they will release a Snyder cut maybe. Or at the very least an extended cut of sorts. But unless he says that there will be a Snyder cut coming, then I am not interested. Because it feels pointless to me. Speculation at this point feels like a waste of time. Either tell us a Snyder cut is happening or just drop it and move on. Thats how I see it. I am not interested in seeing his story told in the form of black and white pictures. I came to the theater to watch a movie. Not a photo reel. Does that make any sense?

        Zack Snyder was removed from Justice League because he made a pile of garbage, not because the studio didn't agree with his Direction and they've decided to release something subpar. I believe the specific early reactions to Zack Snyder's Justice League we're "unwatchable".

        SS had scenes missing but it was nowhere the level that JL was at. In SS, some scenes were removed. In JL, the film was extensively reshot and almost fundamentally changed. Either way, SS had way more problems than just some bad editing and missing scenes

      Even though the Aquaman pic shows us that he’s in a somber mood before he goes into “My man!” mode at the end of the film. Hell, the Martha and Lois pic shows that they have a conversation at their apartment instead of the news room.

        It seems a lot more like a look at them as people, the places they start in their heads versus the place they progress to throughout the film.
        Of course, there is practically no character development in the final product. It's like WB wanted a cartoon instead of something anyone can relate to. Way to miss the point of a superhero.

        It’s funny you say that cartoon comment, because it feels very true to this moment and I couldn’t agree more. And to go along with it, for years, some fans have demanded that WB should just make their films like their animated properties. Not seemingly understanding that, simple paint by numbers stories that wrap up in 80 minutes don’t translate well to live action. Which is exactly what I thought we got. Had JL been animated, no one should have said a damn thing about that movie.

        The standards for "This is how you do it properly!" seem completely different, and much lower.
        Not that I don't like them (just watched Judas Contract and thought it was good), but the scales are deeply imbalanced.

You can get away with that if your name is Leter Jackson, Christopher Nolan or a handful of others. 2 and 1/2 hours is already pretty long. It's a shame he wasn't able to tell te story properly in that amount of time.

        I'm not talking about just LENGTH, man. BvS needed to be truncated properly, is my point, as well as WB not going out of their way to apologize for things in MoS. Man of Steel's destruction of Metropolis being treated as a real event and moment for the story and characters? Good. Having the Doomsday fight be in a place with no other humans other than Lois Lane, while also not so subtly telling the audience "Don't worry, no people are here!"? Not good.

        You should read Batman #37 of Rebirth if you think Batman and Superman can't be funny, hell the type of humor used in that issue is even more goofy then Marvel but guess what the issue was critically acclaimed and loved by fans.         This idea that it's incompatible to enjoy different things for different reasons is unfair - and I say that respectfully, because I tend to like your posts.
        For the movieverse, I would like a variety of styles. Dark, light, a mix sometimes, etc. It does look like we'll be getting that. :)
        Just wish people would be a little more patient for those other styles to manifest (or for WB to commit to more than one step at a time lol), and perhaps more open-minded to things that don't sate their personal preference.

        I agree with you Rust, in fact I'd say that's why I was super interested in the DC universe after Man of Steel. It felt like they were filling in the void Marvel hadn't touched, having movies that were light and somewhat mainstream (Shazam), Movies that were Dark and/or Philosophical (BVS:UC), and films that were somewhere down the middle (Wonder Woman, MOS).

      Not at all. They ruined it by not having faith in Snyder's vision for the characters and always pulling their punches. Its been like this since the end of Man of Steel, where they feel that they need to apologize for everything they do. As a result, BvS was a bit of an apology for MoS and JL was an even worse apology for BvS.
      As for the DCEU being like Marvel and that equating to more success, hell no. There's a reason that Black Panther is on its way to becoming the most successful solo MCU film and its that it has the heart that a lot of those movies lack in bulk. Say what you want about MoS or BvS or WW, but those movies had a great deal of care, environmental/social understanding and tonal consistency with each other. DC being like Marvel would be a "success" from a short term monetary standpoint, but a failure from the long term, just as the MCU has been in terms of narrative and cohesiveness.
      BvS, MoS, WW, Black Panther, The Dark Knight. These are all films that are talked about, good or bad, an extended time after their release. Are we talking about Civil War or Ant Man in the same fashion of those movies? Do they have the same amount of cultural impact and desire for more?

  Are you actually serious, he GAVE us the DCEU, he GAVE us Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman (UE), the two undeniably best CBM films of this decade. And not to mention GAVE us Wonder Woman (the character) and many others including the best Batman performance (by Ben Affleck), best Superman performance (by Henry Cavill) and had a heavy contribution to the Wonder Woman film with Patty Jenkins. So if your trying to blame someone here, actually blame the ones responsible for the mess of JL (joss version) and get over yourself with this stupid hatred for Snyder.

    The best comic book film of the past decade is undeniably The Dark Knight, that's not even a debate that's more or less truth. As for giving us all that stuff yeah the DCEU is in tatters, MoS under performed and wasn't that well liked (i'm saying that as someone who likes the film) and BvS under performed and wasn't that well liked and suffered terrible word of mouth. As for best Batman and Superman performance well i can assure if you asked 100 random people on the street who their favorite Batman and Superman are they will tell you Keaton or Bale and Reeves for Superman.

I don't consider myself a Snyder fan, Snyderbot, or whatever you wanna call it. I do, however, like some of his movies but... If you hate him so much, isn't it time to get over it?       I never said that you can only voice your opinion if it’s positive. It’s just that at this point, if you’ve been commenting about your dislike about Snyder in every single article for the past YEAR, you’re just seeking for attention.
      Common sense says that if you hate something that much, sooner or later you will avoid anything that talk about thing you hate. I hated MoS. After watching a couple of videos bashing the film, I didn’t watch anymore videos. Why? Because I got tired of the film and didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

  First of all, literally NO ONE in their right mind believes the Ultimate Edition of BvS was not better than the theatrical version.
  Second of all, all of the main problems with JL (CGIman, under-developed characters, conflicting tone, and bland score) have been confirmed to have come from cutting out Zack’s stuff, so it is almost CERTAIN that his cut would be an improvement.

  Honestly, I still can't fathom how bad the reshoots were from a cinematography aspect at the very least. I know they were rushed, but such little care was actually put into them that even an amateur college film student could do it.
  Like the one of Barry in his garage - you see just how bright the light is in his face? There's like no fill light or back light of any kind. It's like they literally just pointed one LED light at his face, turned up the brightness to 100% with no kind of diffusion or bounce of any kind, and then called it a day. Like WTF? Or how about the one of Batfleck in the Nightcrawler - his body and face have no kind of color or light separation of any kind from the chair he's sitting in, so it looks like he just blends in with his seat - whereas in the cut shot, there's a clear contrast between him and his seat. This is a 300+ million dollar movie. At least TRY to look like it. Jeez.

      Whedon should know better. The cinematography in Age of Ultron is actually okay (not "great", but still) so it's not like he's incapable of visual filmmaking. And hell, he's not even "creating" a visual style of his own - he's REPLICATING it. I mean, film students in college do that all the time. It's not a walk-in-the-park, but it's easier to mimic someone than it is to come up with a unique visual style of your own, so it's baffling that the reshoots look so amateurish when Whedon literally had a blueprint to emulate.
      It's clear he just didn't give a crap. WB hired him to essentially pick up "leftovers" and he gave the minimalist amount of effort possible to get his paycheck and go home. Not that I completely blame him as WB put him in a really crappy position and any director would probably feel lethargic about doing it, but even still - for him to do that and actually get away with it is just sad.

        Don't get me wrong - I don't blame Whedon completely for the fiasco. Hell, I even think that if Justice League was 100% his movie from the beginning if WB just went ahead and fired Snyder before JL started production, it's highly probable it would actually be a really good movie.
        HOWEVER, since he was essentially brought in to reheat "sloppy leftovers", his heart clearly wasn't into it with or without the WB time mandates. Even as a hired last-minute speed-job, if Joss actually CARED for what he was doing, he would have vehemently fought for better shots and better visual FX. Remember the stink he made with Age of Ultron in keeping the farm scene? Remember how he didn't sugarcoat how mad Disney and Kevin Feige made him over the production of that film? He clearly showed he was passionate about that and gave a damn about what would and wouldn't end up as the final product. If he CARED at all about JL, he would have likely put his foot down not even halfway through reshoots that things were going terribly.
        But he didn't care. He did his job, put the minimal effort required to do his part, and then received his paycheck. And I don't blame him for feeling that way, but the end result STILL speaks for itself.

        I think his "respect" is starting to wane and he has nobody to blame but himself.
        In due time, I'm sure he'll go and make another really good film, but as of now, he's been fired from Batgirl, aided in making JL look cheap, and reputation-wise being tarnished thanks to the accusations flung at him by his ex-wife.
        Also, he's going absolutely crazy on twitter, going on political tirades left and right and even getting into petty arguments with his fans. This kind of stuff should be beneath him, but ever since he "rage-quit" Twitter after the fiasco that Age of Ultron caused (which, granted, I found unwarranted and unfair to him), he's just slowly, but surely veered towards the edge of the precipice and he should take a step back and regroup.
        It's a shame. I do think he is a talented filmmaker, but he needs to just calm down.

Obviously they wouldnt show CYborg upside down during that shot in the trailer because nobody would know what was going on. But in the movie we see it is clearly because he is quite literally upside down when he gets in the nightcrawler. Part with Cyborg looking at the batsignal was okay in the context of the version of the movie we got it as it made for a decent reveal of his full body when he shows up on the rooftop with the others. Wonder Woman shot is more or less the same. And personally I thought the red skies in the final battle were an improvement

    Actually, the Cyborg-upside down part was a new segment that they altered for the film. If you look at the trailer, he was originally meant to be right-side up and you can tell by the sparks that falls downward towards the floors as opposed to falling to the ceiling.

    Weird lighting, weak camera work, cheap sets, sloppy hair and make-up artists... Did Snyder's crew pack up and leave with him?
    I mean, they didn't even get the memo to touch up Superman's muscle padding in post so it doesn't look like a Halloween costume. Night and day difference from MoS/BvS.

I thought for sure that the success of the BvS Ultimate Edition, had earned Zack Snyder some of the goodwill back. Which SHOULD'VE meant, allowing him to finish what he started, and not forcing rewrites, reshoots, and a laughably short runtime for the huge team-up movie. If WB were unsatisfied with how Snyder was going to use Superman in JL, then why let him film it in the first place?!😂 The people who want to believe the report about Snyder's Justice League cut being "unwatchable", are very gullible.

Interesting. The main cast were ordered to remain tight lip when the actor that played Steppenwolf asked what happened with Snyders cut. Now here is Mr. Snyder posting photos of his cut. I guess he has a different contract or just kept some stuff before he was forced away? Idk about the contracts but I would imagine WB would want to keep all the property for themselves and keep this cut quiet.
I'm not complaining but I would love to see the Snyder cut. If WB is tight on money they might as well start a kickstarter and let the fans help pay it out.

        Thank you. While I love the films Mr. Snyder has done, there are some things I didn't like that he changed. I too as well would of preferred that Jimmy wasn't killed. Though, I understand why Mr. Snyder chose to do that. If I recall, I think he said there's more things in this world he wanted to focus on than to on Jimmy. I'm a open minded person. Also, DC is heavily known about its multiverse as well.
        Now that everything has been said and done. The definitive versions of the heroes would of probably been the safer route and probably better route to start a cinematic universe.

        I remember reading that he said that, "...there's more things in the world he wanted to focus on than Jimmy." To me, that rang loudly in my ear that he didn't either know or care about Superman's history. He was so set on changing it to fit his harsh, cold take on Supes. There was really no connection to his Superman for me, and many others. It was not our Superman.
        Had he taken it out of the DCEU and done an Elseworld/Multiverse standalone film, I wouldn't care that much. But that is not what he did. Unfortunately, he also wanted to create the DCEU in his crap-version universe with characters so far removed from their comic lore, that he has now tarnished it. I am hoping for a complete reboot, to wash his version away, but I fear we will still have a Spider-Flash and a dead Olsen for years to come.

        I respect your opinion. Man of Steel actually made me love Superman a lot more. I'm embarrassed to say but in the past I was in the bandwagon of hating on MoS even though I never saw it. I never even watched the trailers. I wasn't that into movies back in the day lol. Mostly played video games and read manga. One day I was bored and watched the pirated version online. Complete 180 change for me. I love what Mr. Snyder did with Superman. To be fair about the pirating, I bought the physical blu ray, and even bought a digital copy on Itunes and Vudu. Which was a bit of a waist for an extra digital copy now that all the digital sites share the library you own. I also like Mr. Miller as the Flash. Reminds me of the Flash from JLA even though that was Wally.

        I wish I had that same reaction to the film, but I can't look past his glaring faults in character development, or lack thereof. I am glad it worked for you though. Movies are very subjective. I can only hope WB gets its act together and gives us films we can come together and really enjoy. I have high hopes for Aquaman, Shazam and WW2, baby steps.

        Yes, the "safe" route might have been to present the familiar versions of the characters and make them unambiguous heroes in a series of action adventure films. But from the start, WB didn't want to do that; they had no interest in going after the MCU on their home turf. Let's be honest: if you wanted to create a straightforward DC movie universe, you wouldn't start with a short list of Snyder and Aronofsky. And, of course, the WB execs had to approve the scripts, etc., before shooting began. They knew that BvS was going to be the "Othello meets Jude the Obscure" of comic book movies before the cameras rolled. They knew about Martha and they knew about Doomsday. So don't think that Snyder was some rogue director; he ultimately delivered what the execs at WB wanted him to.

        WB/DC tried a different route and after the aftermath, it clearly didn't work. It didn't help that WB kept on meddling in. Looks like Flashpoint going to reset what didn't work.
        Well at this point I feel like we are getting the definitive versions now. WW solo film cleared it and from what I see and hear about Shazam! he's clearing it too. Same for Aquaman solo movie but obviously he doesn't look like the comic character but Mr. Momoa is genius casting.
        For Batman, Mr. Affleck, he probably isn't interested anymore. With Mr. Reeves solo Batman film we will probably get a new Batman from the Arkham games or animated series.

        Not true. He used that name for the CIA agent because, with no plans for another solo Superman movie on the horizon, there's no place for Jimmy in the story, so he made it an Easter Egg. Jimmy's role in the storytelling essentially went to Jenny.

  Flashpoint at this point is pretty much rebooting the universe. We might as well of gotten Snyders cut. Considering they are rebooting even after Whedons reshoots.
  It could of been a best of both worlds scenario. Snyder got his trilogy and WB got their reboot with Flashpoint.

  I think the basic structure would be the same - as in no real "narrative" changes (Superman still gets resurrected by the League using the motherbox, the League still have a final showdown with Steppenwolf in Russia, etc.), but the actual content and specific arcs would be different.
