'Nightwing' will feature "lots of nods" to Dick Grayson's circus past, says director Chris McKay

Earlier today Nightwing director Chris McKay told Collider his amazing vision for the movie, and in another interview with Cinemablend he confirmed that there will be "lots of nods" to Dick Grayson's past with his family, The Flying Graysons and the circus.

"Yes. In some form. There will be lots of nods. Lots of nods," McKay confirmed.

Everything McKay has been saying about the Nightwing movie has been great, including that he'll make it when he's ready. It's not being rushed, so we may not be seeing it any time soon.

You can get your Nightwing fix next year, though. Last month, Pirates of the Caribbean star Brenton Thwaites was cast as the character in the live-action Titans TV show, which will premiere on DC's upcoming streaming service in 2018.

WB should consider Dylan O'Brien for Nightwing in the DCEU. He can pull it off in my opinion.

  Just saw the movie. Dylan was great. Even his wise asss comments in the movie were Nightwingish. I also agree, seeing him and Keaton as kick asss good guys, I did feel Batman and Nightwing

KIt Harrington isn't that good though, outside GoT he's been pretty poor and to be honest even in GoT he's one of the weaker actors.

Although this film does not seem to me a priority, I am enthusiastic about the vision that Chris McKay has for this character. I hope that not only remain in words and really this film is made concrete.

On the other hand, a few years ago I wanted Dylan O'Brien as Robin, but given his age, now would look better as Nightwing. It's perfect for that role!...

    As in for just martial arts training.
    Being able to do fight scenes is one thing, but being able to The Raid/ Jackie Chan/JWick fights scenes is a completely different level.

I honestly don't believe this movie will be part of the DCEU and if thats the case, maybe WB should focus on building up the justice league solo films first and also decide on which goddamn Batman they are going to stick with!!!!!

Dick´s circus backstory is one of the most dated in all of comics. It´s good but it also has no place in today´s world if played straight. Unless they license the Cirque du Soleil.
The high society of Gotham just wouldn´t go to a regular circus show. Let´s see if the proctors agree or not.

In keeping with the DCEU timetable, the Circus flashback scenes would take place roughly 18 years in the past, and I'm assuming even at that point it will be shown as a dying business. Perhaps business is so bad that the Flying Graysons have to keep upping the ante on the dangerous stunts they try on the high wires to keep audiences coming back.

Yeah this is all great stuff until the studio decides to either rewrite the movie or just can it. So yeah, until this guy starts filming, i'm going to remain just slightly optimistic.
