Nightwing director Chris McKay hasn't been shy about chatting with fans about his upcoming movie. That's why some were surprised that Nightwing wasn't included in the list of movies that Warner Bros. announced at Comic-Con last month. Well, it turns out there's a good reason for that.

When a fan on Twitter asked McKay director why Nightwing wasn't part of the Comic-Con presentation, McKay said that great movies take time. In the past, McKay has turned down movies that already had a strict release date. "This isn't going to be like that," McKay said. "I want this movie to blow you away. We need time to get it right."

There's nothing wrong with that approach, and it's nice to hear that Warner Bros. is giving McKay the time he needs to get it right. What do you hope to see in the Nightwing movie? Let me know in the comments below.

    hmm I've heard this before... anyone remember when Ben affleck had a great script and was directing the solo Batman movie? Then Matt reeves scraps the script and starts over. not trying to be negative but I'm not convinced a nightwing movie will happen until they start principle photography

            There's no guarantee the alcoholism story is true. It may just be a cover up for other things in his private life, maybe true reasons for his divorce... Is he still attending rehab while working on the DCEU?

    Isn't Wonder Woman 2 the only movie with a release date though? The Batman doesn't have one, neither does Shazam or any of the rumored DCEU projects.

      Shazam is supposed to start production next year, so it may be released in either 2019 or 2020.

    I want good characterization and to not have to remind myself this is Dick, or it's going to pull me out of the film and sour the experience. I want as close to pre-Flashpoint Dick Grayson as we can get; quippy, some of that assurance that he's doing what's right, the whole being tougher on himself than anyone else is, but giving other people a second shot if it's merited. I don't want to see Teen Titans Go Robin or just a goofy, grinning Batman foil. Some self-doubt will work if it fits with his age or storyline, but not crippling levels of it - he was the first Robin and trained by Batman, and that counts for something. Nightwing used to be respected by all the other superheroes, almost as much as Superman, and I'd like to see some of that start to come together and show when this film finally happens. We've been waiting for a good Dick Grayson film portrayal for over 75 years, they need to do it right ;)

      Whenever I see Nightwing being in a relation with Starfire, it makes me hate Nightwing.
      I mean, the duo Nightwing & Batgirl is way better and they fit.
      That's why it's always hard to watch the Teen Titans animated movies.

        I barely care if Dick is with Babs or Starfire, but growing up watching the Teen Titans animated series and now the animated movies, and having to watch the Bruce-Babs relationship becuase Timm´s obsession with that couple, I prefer seeing Dick in a relation with Starfire XD

        Also, I have never read the stories where Dick and Babs are a couple, only the newest ones, and hipster Barbara is awful and there´s a lot of drama XD Even when Dick showed up in the Starfire series they looked more comfortable with each other and were more mature about their past together.

        But honestly, I can see Dick with Babs, Starfire, Helena, Shawn or any other girl as long as the writer makes a good relationship´s development.

          Yup it is in the latest comics, and they talk about it (of what I've read so far).
          Yeah Bruce/Babs is totally wrong.
          And about the latest animated movies Dick/Starfire. It just feels forced. They show no chemistry whatsoever.
          I've just started the "Birds of Prey" and Babs was way more interesting in the Nightwing comics XD

            their relationship is one of the standout point of that movie according to many critics,how they feel so comfortable with each other even within limited duration the film had. so either you're a contrarian or you just won't admit it.

        He's 39. Ben's Bruce Wayne in the DCEU is around 45 years old. Makes sense to me. I just hope they give us mind blowing movie, with whoever they cast.

    I hope they cast Michael Pitt as Jason Todd, fingers crossed Reeves will adapt Red Hood. I hope they cast Barry Keoghan as Tim Drake. Robin has always been a pussy to me, Barry has the chops the age and I think he can make Robin more of a bad ass.
    I don't know who they should cast as Grayson, I'd prefer it to be someone in his mid twenties who can take over the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne when Affleck retires, which I think is going to take a long while but I prefer the idea of a character taking up the cape and cowl instead of recasting Bruce.

    Can't wait to see Reeves' Batman, Affleck in JL, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Batman in Flashpoint and Batgirl! Great times indeed

    They probably learned their lesson when they tried to back Ben Affleck into a corner with The Batman, and possibly David Ayer. I don't know how much truth there is to the idea that they made him write his Suicide Squad script in 6 weeks, but anything is possible. Looks like they are learning to let the director's do their own thing, take their time, and produce a good film.

      But 6 weeks is more than enough to write something that is leagues better than what we ended up getting. I mean, Cabin in the Woods (a movie I personally did not like) was written in 2 days. Yet it still got widespread critical acclaim. So many films are written in under 2 weeks and turn out fine. Ideally speaking, yes 6 weeks is not very much... but it's enough to write a working, cohesive story. Something tells me if Ayer had all the time in the world, the movie would still have sucked, no matter what. His vision for Enchantress, Joker, and so forth... those things wouldn't have changed. And these things were freaking horrible.

        I'm sure that if WB had left his script alone the end result would have been better. Not perfect, but better, from what w could see in the first trailer (for example the abuses from Joker to Harley)

          WB interfered more with the editing process. The overall narrative of SS was still Ayer's. He even owned up to it.

            Yeh well, but the thing is they interefered and left a lot of things in the cutting room. The narrative you mention could have flowed better. We'll never know how it was originally, though

            I honestly think Ayer took a completely wrong approach. I mean, if his movie was awesome from the start, I doubt WB would have interfered as much as they did. I still think he's a good director, but it's hard not to call this entire thing a huge mistake.

            I enjoyed the movie as I thought it was entertaining and some characters were spot on, but yeah I se where you come from. Ayer himself said what things h would have changed and it could have been better.

            We'll see what happens next, I also think he is a good director

    Love to hear this still is in the works. More than anything I hope to see the black and blue suit. Would love a Tim cameo as well and I think he should face Deathstroke. Hints to the Titans would be amazing too
