A year after Marvel took a shot at the "Martha" scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in issue #6 of "Spider-Man/Deadpool"... they're at it again!

This time, it comes courtesy of "Deadpool vs. The Punisher (2017) #5". Deadpool can be seen beating the crap out of The Punisher, when he suddenly stops himself and goes into a full blown "Martha" rant, a clear shot at the Batman v Superman scene. Check out the panels below (click to enlarge):

A Marvel X-Men comic also took a shot at the controversial Batman v Superman scene last fall. The first one may have been funny, but to keep doing it a year later seems a bit excessive. What do you make of Marvel's latest Batman v Superman joke? Sound off in the comments below.

    It's just a joke, sure it's reused but who/what does it hurt to reuse it? It's a throw-away part of the comic and people have given it too much spotlight than it deserves.
    This could be the best Deadpool comic in ages and some people would miss that because they worried about a stupid joke.

Everything that i spent years memorizing about frank castle is still in tact and has been for 3o years. Did batman catch the people that killed his parents? Does earth 2 exist? Lets face it dc continuity lasts about 5 years then they just reboot it and everything you memorized went bye bye.

  Marvel Legacy isn´t a Rebirth clone and that is the whole problem with it. Almost nothing will change about the line when Legacy starts in about 2 months... sigh. Marvel is now also outselling DC again but they do it with more books (+ proper canon Star Wars) and way more failing ones.

Honestly I feel like whoever wrote this article does not even read comics... because this has been a staple of DC and Marvel comics for years, they are not at war no matter how much newfans would like to think they are or those that love to rally behind one companies movies and shit on the others, to anyone that simply enjoys good comics they know DC and Marvel take little digs at each other all the time and it doesn't bother anyone except those fake fans with mental health issues. Deadpool made fun of Batman VS Superman WAY because this comic..... so why did you only pick up on it now? lol did you not read the comic where wade ends up playing himself in his own movie? because that was just after BvS and took a dig at DC and Marvel movies....

100% spot on. He is far from the type of person that should be making these movies as he does NOT remotely get superhero comics, he doesn't enjoy them he doesn't read them and he only bothered to pick up 1 or 2 comics once he was given the job and he generally does not like what the general comic book reading audience likes... so why give him the movie? it was so so bad.

  In summary, batman have suffering from the feeling of powerlessness he is having since that metropolis event and he have been projecting all of his irrationality and the negative feelings he have onto superman and blame it all onto him. Batman finally a chance to redeem his own feeling of powerlessness when he went to save martha and he finally regained his hope after the death of superman. This is how the movie basically deconstruct batman and then reconstruct him back.

Nothing more, nothing less, all other factors are not recognised and it's entire focus is on the names being the same. There is no intention for the joke to be towards what you're trying to say as it's indirectly no affecting that issue. But I see what you're saying.

        This isn't the issue at all, at all. The issue is the way in which it was presented. It is a great theme to use to evoke emotion and build a connection between the both of them, however the way in which it was executed, the line came out flat. Meaning it wasn't executed properly, it had potential but the way it was done was just poor.
        The joke arrives because the line came out flat and it needed more weight through characterization to avoid such a joke to occurring.

        Ok i don want to comment about the dialogue because this is really subjective. But i still don see what makes this something to be a jokes.
        In my opinion, ben affleck present very well of someone who are legitimately get triggered and shock by the word that superman muttered. Which he then response very angrily "why you said that name" Then it took lois to finally make it clear to him that the name is superman mom. Therefore, driving the point that superman do have human parents and humanise him in batman eyes that he initially so xenophobic about. Then you know the rest of his action which is basically an episode PTSD breakdown before batman throw the spear

        Sorry for the late reply. I watch the video briefly but i honestly lose interest in his review the moment when that guy conclude that superman is a asshole just from the context from his fight against batman alone. We already see that superman are being natural altruism and still willing to bears the responsibility and his burden and we never see him react in anger despite of being constantly judge, scrutinised, and blamed for something that is not his fault. Despite we mankind take superman for granted, superman still believe in humanity and willing to die for us. Even if superman being jerk with batman, he deserve to be that given that batman is the one who wanted to bring a fight with superman and is the one trying to pick a fight with him. Compare to that, batman is way even more asshole.
        Just to let u know just because someone is being good and nice guy like superman, that does not mean that someone cannot be harsh and react angrily towards someone who truly deserve that and who did that someone wrong.
        Also I can tell from that guy review he is projected way too much into his expectations of what he think superman should be. Not to said he should projected his expectations but too much of it would have form an inherent biases and preconceived expectations about the character that would have ruined how we audiences should have enjoy the movie and trying to understand what the director is trying to tell in his story for what it is. Not all movies are gonna be appeal to everyone and I certainty don expect every movie would have worked for some certain people even if they are other people who really enjoy the movie. In the end, this is all boil down to our own subjective preferences. Some movie may worked for us and may not work for some people. I can respect that and I'm not trying to force you to change your mind or you are wrong about it.
        I don really see any reason why people make jokes of martha scene based on what that video said. That review video are rather based on his own subjective preferences that I don think everyone would share the same opinion as he is. Plus i have seen enough this martha jokes all over the internet to know that jokes are mostly centered around both batman and superman mother having the same name and very fast become friends because of that( when in actuality this joke is so wrong and misunderstood in so many level). You are the first person to bring up other reasoning about martha jokes but i honestly don buy into that since that review video are way too subjective preferences. Plus i stop listening the video since the rest is him explaining what he think would have make the movie scene better and I'm not interested to listen or involving in that debate unless that person intended to involved in the actual movie production. In that case, that guy better make his own movie to appease himself and don expect too much from the other director movie who will have different thinking and subjective taste in the movie .         No not no it's not about what he expects Supe's to be, he's explaining how to enhance what has already been given. Supe's is the symbol of, "Hope" but certain parts of the film executed it poorly, this reviewer guy was suggesting, within the parameters of the movie, how they could of put more weight into making Superman as the symbol of, "Hope" better. He's not talking about what he expects Supe's to be, but rather how to enhance his image, his image of, "Hope".
        Other than that, I'm done arguing with why Martha is a joke so we'll agree to disagree there.

      it is relevant cause it is part of the characters personna and it defines his relationship with the other character. it is fitting because facing that ptsd and coming to terms with it helps them become better and not consumed by it and this improves the characterization. a hero has to struggle before he can rise high. thats the basic core of every superhero ever. you would prefer your superheroes have life handed to them on a silver plate, so you can feel good about yourself ?

        Again raking it out of context. It's not behaving like an 8 year old which he wasn't at the time of his parents death btw. It's feeling the same way he felt on that night. Feeling it happen again. All the pain he felt at that moment coming back to him.
        You say that he is not inhuman but you want him to be inhuman and perfect. Yes, batman has sheer determination and self control but that's the outer layer of him and that can crack. The ptsd contributed to his distraught, but it's the source. It's one of many things combined together, that the sheer pressure of them all pressing down at him broke him and drove him to rage. Even batman has his limits. And many times he has lost it in the comics. The idea is finding his way back which wa what his movie about, which is what the Martha moment was to remind him of who he was and who he wanted to be. One of the inspirations for this movie is batman noelle, which is sort of a batman version of Christmas Carol in which batman loses his way and finds it again.

After reading the comments it is clear that most of the huge BvS fans are simply people who never read the comics, because most of them are offended by this despite the fact Marvel and DC have been doing this for decades and it is simply friendly competition at this point and has been for quite some time, it isn't anything new and you only get offended because you like a mediocre movie that the majority simple will not agree with you on, which is fine go ahead enjoy it and tell yourselves that the general viewer is stupid or doesn't get it... but in reality you are only fooling yourselves, people got it they understand the attempt at giving a simple phrase a bigger meaning and bringing the whole movie together except.... it just did not do that it fell flat and by that point in the movie most people have given up on it, it was not the worst part of the movie however that came with them forcing doomsday into the film (and showing us in the trailers that he was in it too) just to kill off superman in supermans second movie in this franchise...... not a smart move especially when everyone knows he will be back, save it for way way way down the line when people might actually question if they would keep him dead or not. Film was a shit show of religious symbolism (but that can be put completely on snyder as he just cannot help himself) and bad writing unfortunately. You can enjoy it by all means but if you have to convince yourself that basically the majority of viewers are just too dumb to get it well you are going to live a very lonely life of constantly trying to convince yourself that based on an opinion of a movie you are somehow better or smarter than those around you... have fun with that, reality will always just be a few steps in the opposite direction and noone is stopping you going that way but yourself, either out of stubborness or an inane urge to always be "right" even when it comes to a movie opinion.

I find it interesting that Marvel feels it necessary to even acknowledge Batman v Superman's existence. I mean, that movie was a terrible failure at the box office...er, uh 800 plus million ain't too shabby. Hmmm, well, I am sure Marvels comics must be destroying DC...no? Marvel is getting owned? What?         No, BvS was like someone took all of my love for DC and light it on fire and took a dump on it. I don't care if that was an exaggeration. It wasn't a love letter; the film was an insult to DC fans.

        No it was a love letter to dc fans. It basically took everything great about dc and put it in a film. Of course you wouldn't care of what you said is an exaggeration since everything you've've said about this film is an exaggeration. Only people who wild be insulted by this are overly sensitive and easily butthurt people with preconcieved notions.

    No, BvS is shit. If you like it, fine, more power to you.
    Also Deadpool was bland and tame in its style. Oh its jokes were interesting, but they were really playing it safe instead of going far out there with the character.
    As for Wonder Woman, okay, fine. DCEU only gets one point for making only one good film. Though after reading about the current news with the DCEU, it sounds like this was their only good luck.

        Again that's your opinion. In my opinion, the DCEU has only made Wonder Woman and the rest have been bad.

I did not see watch Batman V Superman in its entirety but I did see various scenes, including the martha scene. I thought it was dumb. Had this been the story Frank Miller wrote adapted on film it would have been great but I was not impressed at all with this movie. Does Batman look cool? Absolutely. Is Ben Affleck the greatest Batman? Not at all. For me it's Conroy > Bale > everyone else. The people here who praise Snyder's interpretation are people who will eat up anything Batman. I did not expect to see another Batman movie after The Dark Knight Rises for quite a long time. The sudden release of another movie shortly after Nolan's work is a little disrespectful and a tough act to follow. Snyder's Batman kills, has a Batmobile that looks like a dune buggy, and just isn't that much fun. Bale got everything right. As much as he says he didn't, he's wrong. Bale is Batman.

  Bale uses a military vehicle that is basically a tank causing quite a bit of destruction in the first two movies. Bale fought like a stiff robot boxer and retired way too early. The Dark Knight Rises was a very poor way to end nolans trilogy glad we didn't have to wait long for a new Batman. Pretty much every single live action Batman correct me if I'm wrong killed at least 1 person whether intentional or not except for George Clooney and Adam West. He's a battered and bruised Batman restored by Supermans sacrifice and he moves like he should unlike Bale and the widely overrated Batman he created where the villains were better than the main character.

Its been more than a year and if you still have the itch to make fun of that moment, at least be fucking original.
Ironically thats what the Marvel and its cinematic universe has been reduced to lately: rehashed, overused old jokes.
