'Wonder Woman' director is "very, very, very interested" in a sequel

All signs point to Wonder Woman being a huge hit this summer. Critics loved it. Fans who attended special screenings last night loved it. It sounds like a sequel is inevitable at this point.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is ready for a sequel. "It's definitely something I'm very, very, very interested," she told Fandango. "I love what we've created and I love the team that I worked with doing it and these actors so much that, yeah, we're all very excited to talk about continuing forward together."

Jenkins also reiterated what she said last month: she wants to bring Wonder Woman to America and have her become an international hero.

I hope Jenkins and the Wonder Woman cast comes out at Comic-Con for a "victory lap" and then announces the sequel!

    That doesn't seem to make any sense. If the movie is indeed good, then people enjoyed it because of that. And it's a literal fact there was course correction after the reception of BvS, that is not debatable at all.
    Wonder Woman was good, people liked it, that's great. Nobody's jumping on the bandwagon late. They simply were waiting for a good movie.
    Implying it's the audience's/critics' fault for not liking previous movies is very weak sauce. If anything, DC was able to save the train from massive disaster.

      It's not about jumping on any bandwagon. If Wonder Woman is good, then it will have good reviews, as it appears it will happen. But then, if Justice League turns out bad, it will have poor critical reception. This "bandwagon" thing doesn't really make sense because it's not like every DCEU movie will now have great reviews just because Wonder Woman is great.

        Some people had already imagined critics would trash WW, long before reactions came out, just because they trashed other DCEU films as if they (and, majority of neutral fans) have personal grudge against DC/WB/DCEU. Good reviews to WW, presumably, should change that perception.

I'm actually curious to see if she's able to return to Themyscira. The Rebirth "Year One" arc (volume 2) uses that idea.

I didn't like it at first, but my feelings changed as I continued to listen to it. Definitely a good song for WW.

The only thing is that it may be a continuation of Diana's journey from WWI. There's no guarantee we get a modern day sequel. I believe Jenkins has already briefly hinted it may be set some time after WWI (30s-40s). I believe it was in an interview/article I read somewhere.
Anyway, the early reviews and fan reactions from early screenings is superb. I haven't heard anything negative about it yet!

  She literally retired from being a super hero after WWI. She said it in BvS herself. The sequel will be set in modern times. Enough with prequels. This first one already told her origin story, now we should be going frontwards.

    Yeah no prequel sequel please. I know nothing of Wonder Woman stories so whatever it is I'll take it as original, but enough with the smile-less haunted sepia toned sundry haberdashery carnie con papas old timey stuff. Instead it should be a prequel to the prequel, of how she cowardly killed Jonah hex, the coward that killed the coward that killed the coward that killed Jesse James.

I read one guys remarks on another forum who said he can't wait for every DCEU fan to see it as it's a significantly better film overall than all three so far (MoS, BvS, SS). It seemed legit because he had spoilers and seemed genuinely excited about it.

Start shooting the sequel before the movie is released? So the stars can't even go on talk shows? Not to mention the possibility of a flop (hopefully not in this case).
And that is one of the reasons you don't run a movie studio...

If the buzz sorrounding the movie is an indicator of the quality of the movie I'll let her make it! Sequels have been green-lit even before movies being released, so I don't know what could keep this from going ahead

I am excited by the reviews from those who got to go to an early screening. Give me a sequel! (and I haven't even seen the first one yet). I hope they can set it in WWII, but a modern setting would also be nice, to show how she continues to be relevant when not part of a superhero team.

So apparently there is a women ONLY Wonder Woman screening happening and guys protesting it have been deemed the sexist ones. Then in the same article the justification for doing it is because of history so is sexism something we take turns doing?

  Whatever dude it's only two screenings at the Alamo which is a specialty theater. I think it's a really cool idea since most everything action oriented has been aimed strictly at men since the dawn of cinema.

  I just see it as a celebration of womanhood: it took YEARS to finally get this film, and lots of women especially have been waiting to see this film and this kind of representation of themselves in hollywood. Fair enough that some might want to just see it with others who feel incredibly empowered by WW in this way.

      (a) "back in the day" wasn't that long ago for many women.
      (b) women still face sexism today, but I'm sure you're about to tell me otherwise.
      (c) never really said that women deserve this because of the sexism they faced in the past. I'm saying some women want to see this with just eachother because the film speaks to them in a unique way that it doesn't speak to men.

        Ok, look mate. This is a discussion forum about a WW sequel. As much as I love a good debate on gender equality, this ain't the place for it, this convo is pre much just spam at this point. It's not my job to educate you on gender inequality, open a book or try some empathy it ain't hard.
        Regarding these women-only screenings, I don't see it as a big issue because it's an incredibly unique experience that we as men don't really get from the movie. If there were to be a men-only screening of a film such as, say, Deliverance, I'd be totally for that. Great film, and in the same way as WW I feel a very unique experience for men that women wouldn't experience. Good day.

Well Disney gave Cap 2 films after the first avenger lost money . they gave Antman and Thor sequels and they made chump change or broke even

  Disney gave Captain America a sequel, which was bound to make more money due to the Avengers boost (which was one of the reasons Iron Man 3 made as much money as it did). It was only smart to make another Captain America movie after he was in a film that made over 1.5 billion dollars. Then Winter Soldier made a shit ton of money and had great critical and audience reception, which was reason enough to make the third movie. It's not like they decided to do 3 movies based on the first's very mediocre box office.
  Also, the first captain america wasn't distributed by Disney, so that's another factor.
  Also, Ant-Man had a 130M dollar budget, and made 519M. That's definitely more than breaking even. It probably had as much pure profit as Batman v Superman did at the box office.
