Rumor: David Goyer could direct 'Green Lantern Corps'

Earlier this year we learned that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes were working on a script for Green Lantern Corps. Goyer will also serve as a producer on the project, and now a new rumor says he could be even more involved.

According to reporter Jeff Sneider, David Goyer could end up directing the Green Lantern movie as well. Based on things Sneider has heard, it could be a situation where Goyer feels he's the best guy for that job, since he already has his hands all over the project creatively.

While Sneider (who has written for Variety and The Wrap) is a reliable reporter, this particular piece of information should be treated strictly as a rumor right now. Sneider broke the news on his "Meet The Movie Press" podcast, which means he hasn't been able to properly verify the information yet.

  Well people blame him for MoS, and they blame Terrio for BvS. I'm not saying that the guy has a great filmography, but "hack" seems to be overused.

    He doesn't even have a GOOD filmography, all of the movies he directed was dogshit, his writing is awful especially when it comes to dialogue which was one of MoS biggest weaknesses. He is literally worse than Snyder and I hate Snyder.

      I will give you a shot, so you learn to talk and not impose your opinions, i don’t want him to direct this either, i prefer them taking their time and get it right, but i think Man of steel is the best Superman movie ever, and close to being one of the best comic book movies as well, he has some shit work, so what, virtually every actor and director has some shit on their resume.
      So you see, i have mixed emotions here, and i have to come to the conclusion that with the creative team they have behind, i would give him a chance, if this rumor comes to be truth, which i doubt, actually.

I give Goyer some credit for writing, despite peoples opinion of him he is a pretty good story/concept guy. People seem to overlook the fact that he did write the story/concept work on the TDK trilogy (He also wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins I'm pretty sure) along with Nolan, it wasn't all Nolan's work.

However I hope this rumor doesn't pan out as true, letting him direct the film would be a mistake in my opinion. I will give him the benefit of the doubt as far as story/screenplay is concerned, but I think I'm in the minority on that issue.

I imagine though WB will probably have a difficult time finding a quality director for this project. As poorly received as the last GL attempt was, this might be something no one credible wants to risk a career on.

Rumors aside, if they are considering this, this is bad. This movie has to be very CG heavy, has to have that epic scope and feel, as they pitched the idea as being "body cop adventure in space" and they want Goyer for that? He has some good ideas, but Nolan bros urned those ideas into great script, i love Man of steel, almost a masterpiece, but he needs to stay in writing with heavy oversight of the filmmaker. Hell, the last time he directed he got chocked by Wesley Snipes. Get a grip WB

Blade 3 was awful, he's fine when he's working with more talented directors but no...
If George Miller isn't doing MOS2 or JL2 then I'd rather he did Green Lantern Corps, someone already noted for a taste for outlandish visual concepts but also classic cinema story telling.
