'Justice League' director Zack Snyder says new trailer is coming "soon"

Just a few weeks after Justice League star Gal Gadot said a new trailer would be coming "soon", director Zack Snyder chimed in and echoed the same.

Over the weekend, Snyder posted a photo of himself with a LEGO Batman standee on Vero, and in the comments a fan said they can't wait for the new Justice League trailer any longer, to which Snyder replied: "Trailer is all part of marketing and there is a set schedule for release. It's coming soon, don't worry."

How soon is "soon" is anyone's guess, but I think next month makes the most sense. Warner Bros. is releasing their big blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, and I bet they'll want a new Justice League trailer to be ready to show to that audience.

Damn if it isn't the most awaited trailer in recent history! I think even the Star Wars trailer isn't getting so much anxiety as this one!

        Awesome trailers*, there's no doubt JL trailer is going to rock, but we'll have to wait to see if the movie is actually any good. All we had until now were some unfinished shots and that huge gaffe of Barry Allen not knowing who Bruce Wayne was even after hearing his name in that SDCC first look.

        Bruce doesn't hop over the Bay that often and definitely doesn't come in Clark's usual line of work which seems to be kind of a street-coverage(not a whole lot to do with billionaires) and sports(different kind of billionaires).
        Clarke didn't grow up a few miles from Gotham, though, did he?

        but Clark is a journalist, though, isn't he? and he's also living with one! it doesn't take long to know the most eligible billionaire bachelor next city! and Barry Allen's room was full of monitors, he can't be playing video games in all of them! and he is not! he is trying to figure out his power, that means monitoring R&D dept. of top corps. like Lex's and Wayne's. actually, it would have made more sense if Barry surprised Bruce by saying, "took you long enough to come find me, Batman! even Lex knows who I am, and he is loco."

        Clark does Investigative and Sports journalism. Lois is strictly Investigative. It's pretty clear Clark knew who Bruce Wayne was. He just didn't grow up looking at his pictures since he didn't grow up reading the Gotham Gazette or the Daily Planet and even in the DC Films there's the rest of the world out there besides Metropolis and Gotham. So Clark couldn't readily recognize Bruce, who's only the richest person in Gotham, not even the country.
        He probably wasn't playing video games on any of the screens but an episode of Rick & Morty was on one, simulations of real-world effects over his suit on others.
        Wayne Enterprises or Lex Corp won't be researching the Speed Force so Barry has no reason to be hacking into every tech company and instead concentrate on something like the STAR labs—Barry isn't even that good of a hacker. He only stole certain materials from Wayne Industries to build his suit.
        The one reason Lex knows is because he'd been working on the Metahuman Thesis for years, already having had presented it to the Capitol once (or more). Barry got his powers around a year ago and as evident he'd been too busy creating his suit to be running around finding out people's secret identities. Considering how he has one of his own, I'd say Barry would be respectful enough not to be doing that anyway.

        Bruce Wayne is not a billionaire in south Asia, he is in the very next city, and Clark knows about the Bat vigilante, but not the billionaire playboy? 18 months living together, in an era of internet, Bruce Wayne's pic never came up? considering how much news coverage he seems to get every time he gets out of his mansion! same reason why Barry should've recognized him too!
        Lexcorp won't be researching the speed force? why? is there any restriction? even then, the guy who came up with the very thesis about metahumans, who blew up the capitol, is supposed to abide by that restriction? and why wouldn't Barry hack into their R&D dept? he would be interested to find out if the technologies he is looking for, already existed, don't you think? I don't know where you heard that Barry stole from Wayne industries, but from the trailer, his room certainly looked like a stereotypical hacker's room, maybe in Snyderverse, he is one! he certainly didn't look like someone who works in a crime lab!
        and out of respect for secret identities? like the kind Bruce/Batman just showed him? and also, people should listen to a billionaire playboy by day/murderous vigilante by night....why exactly? if someone like him tells a stranger, "I want to recruit you to save the world, I didn't go to proper authority like a good citizen, because I am Batman!" - people would say, "Dude! you are a long way from Arkham Asylum!" Nick Fury had the authority and credibility, Bruce/Batman has neither.

        Did you actually watch the film? Clark didn't know about the Bat vigilante until he was told about him by a Gothamite when he tried to visit Kahina.

        30+ years old Clark didn't grow up with Internet and looking at someone's picture in less than 18 months, especially some billionaire, wouldn't be etched in his memory that well.         I said Barry just got his powers about a year ago. Lex wouldn't even know anything about the Speed Force, as wouldn't any scientist besides Barry himself. I mentioned STAR labs because they already possess a freaking Mother Box so Barry would have more luck there. Not a godamned restriction.
        I got that information about using Wayne tech for the Flash's suit from the set visits—some space-grade material they manufacture.
        I was worried you'd say shit like that but thought I'd give your brain a chance so I wasn't as spoon-feeding as you'd prefer: When someone tells you their secret (identity) it's not the same as you finding out their secret (identity) on your own. The former involves trust, the latter distrust/doubt. I don't know how any well-thinking human being can't see that!         Bruce is not a global celebrity. He's big in Gotham, but still only to an extent. He's never demonstrated the kind of celebrity magnitude Trump has.
        And, again, Clark is from Kansas, new to Metropolis, and will likely only just be finding his feet as a reporter in BvS. He can't even investigate things he considers important because Perry has him focused on other kinds of stories, so, yeah, that speaks for itself.

        In real life, there are 1,810 billionaires in the world, with 540 of them being from the United States. Most people could not name 10.
        Bruce Wayne is not Bill Gates or Donald Trump - specifically, we have no indication of that level of celebrity in the DCEU canon yet.

  Don't forget you're seeing things from inside a DC community! Things might not be as crazy for the Star Wars fanatics yet because their movie is farther away, but it'll definitely hit that point soon. Take Beauty and the Beast for example, it's hardly ever mentioned around here but its trailers blew up the internet and were immensely anticipated inside it's own community.

    As a Star Wars fan, I see less hype about the Episode VIII trailer right now than I see for JL. Our lot is more just obsessing over the name right now, and doing a lot of theorizing and wishful thinking about plot progression after VII. The trailer will get it's hype when it's time. :)
    Like you said, SW is a little further off (not by a lot), but it's also not being promoted as heavily right now as JL has been (already had a teaser last year, etc).
    Either way, just chipping my perspective in. I definitely don't think it's enough of a difference to have an extensive debate about. haha

      While is true Star Wars is getting no promotion at all, I wouldn't say JL has been heavily promoted. We only had the first look and a couple pictures, so I think the "lack" of promotion is what is actually generating this anxiety for the trailer, along with uncertainty, worries and the fact that is the freaking Justice League of course.

        We've already had behind the scenes footage, the teaser, tons of photos, a set visit, lots of plot details, and so on. Compared to Star Wars VIII, where we just have some teases and the name, that is a heavier amount.

  There is HUGE anticipation for the Star Wars trailer, much more than this. It's Star Wars.
  Sure there is anticipation for the JL trailer, but there's a lot of anxiety from fans too given how crucial this film is to the DCEU, and how 'meh' the JL sizzle reel was.

    "its Star Wars"....interesting. Its funny. DC has been around considerably longer than star wars though. I mean The Avengers made more money at the BO than any of the prequels as well as the originals. TFA made about 2 billion where as Avengers made about 1.5 billion. Rogue one has only made a little over a billion. Honestly, I think many people are underestimating just how capable something as iconic as the Justice League can potentially be

      Just because something has been around the longest doesn't mean it deserves to make more. If that were true, the Tolkein, James Bond, Pink Panther and Godzilla franchises would be the biggest.
      Besides, 'franchise' in this context refers to films and their connected commercial enterprises, like film merchandise. The James Bond franchise began with the films, not with his books. The Tolkein franchise began in 2001, not 1937. That means there was no real DCEU franchise until MOS. For Batman, it started in 1966. Superman, 1978. It's about quality, not longevity.
      If you are comparing Marvel films with Star Wars films (focusing on the prequels is a bit of a straw man fallacy), then that is testament to what MCU have done. They've worked hard OUTWITH of their comicbook arm to lay the groundwork and create a broad shared universe with highly enjoyable films before they even got to Avengers. DCEU is nowhere near the level of MCU. Not even close. Sorry, if DCEU had iconic status, then it would have been reflected in BO takings. Two of the biggest superheroes of all time, together for the first time, and it couldn't even clear $900m. DCEU has no iconic status; heck it's struggling to maintain a cult status. MCU is on the way to iconic status (probably when it concludes), while Star Wars has been there for decades. The central points are story, world building, success and being culturally ubiquitous.

        ....what? DC characters are already iconic. THey didnt need a cinematic universe to get to that point. BvS initially practically sold on name alone. It had the biggest opening weekend for a comic book movie ever. The reason it didnt do as well at the box office as it could have was because of the bad reviews. Dude a movie about the Justice League is something that people have been wanting for decades. Pre Avengers, that was "the" superhero team. Characters like Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman are household names and it has been that way for a long time. Superman being the most recognizable fictional characters of all time. Marvel had to build from the ground up because they were not in the same position as DC. Nobody knew those characters. YOu know I was on youtube the other day watching the old JUstice league cartoon intro, and one o the top comments on taht video was "remember when these guys were the elite superhero team and the Avengers were effing nobodies?" SOmebody also responded with "Those were the days". I dont want to diss marvel, but you are SERIOUSLY underestimating the justice league

        Yes, and I’m NOT saying they don’t have iconic status. I am referring to the movie franchise, the DCEU. That’s because this started by comparing the film franchise of DC with the film franchise of Star Wars. And in that case, it isn't iconic in the way Star Wars is. I'll repeat, you cannot just add the DC history of comicbooks and say it's part of the film franchise, in the same way that you cannot say that 1953 is the beginning of the Tolkein film franchise. Sure, DC has history but that’s not a guarantee to anything (see my above examples again). As well as having cultural ubiquity and world building, it needs to be successful and good in order to become iconic. Arguably the DCEU is neither of them.
        And again, you are not going to convince me about BvS. The box office speaks for itself. WB were expecting this movie to be a bigger hit, go over a billion and to have universal love, like TDK. Never happened. I mean it manage to JUST beat unknown first timers GotG by only $100m or so. It’s no secret WB were disappointed by the numbers. You mention that it didn’t do well because of bad reviews. Precisely, and that’s what helps you achieve iconic status- great movies. If you are going to get poor DCEU films then you will never achieve the film franchise iconic status of Star Wars, or go close to it like MCU.

        I’m sure people are waiting for the JL movie. Again, that’s not my point. My point is that it is nowhere near the anticipation for Star Wars. It transcends genre. You will never see the delirium for Marvel or DCEU right now as you did for Star Wars a year ago for example. It was on the news. I’m old enough to remember how crazy 1989 was, but that was still nowhere near this. This is because MCU is still young, and DC has failed to capitalize properly on it's comicbook history. They could have patiently built up the franchise post TDKR, not jump several films in a bid to rush out the precursor to JL, and built up serious goodwill with solo films that were successful and critically acclaimed. Then, there would be a case to say that there is broad anticipation for a JL. Star Wars have captured the imagination of hundreds of millions over decades. DCEU clearly hasn’t. It hasn’t even had a good film yet. There is no case to be made that the DCEU franchise is close to Star Wars, and that’s coming from someone who loves JL (I have all the animated series) and prefers Star Trek over Star Wars.

        I’m not disputing there are household names. I would infact say that Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are iconic names. Batman hands down beats most film franchises. “Household name” alone doesn’t guarantee anything. Firstly, we have already seen them in films a year ago so I don’t see how the anticipation exceeds that of Star Wars. Secondly, the films so far have been poor, and word of mouth has been spreading that the DCEU is in big trouble, which clearly has an impact. Film franchises with iconic status like Star Wars are contingent on good, quality, successful films with world building cultural ubiquity. DCEU/JL doesn’t have that. MCU is close to it. Star Wars has it in spades. You need to take the blinkers off and think impartially. You are too close to this.

        okay im sorry but, WHAT is the deal with this whole "DCEU is rushing" nonsense? Apparently I am the only person in the world that thinks this is complete BS. Pre Avengers, the idea of a cinematic universe where you build up to a team movie with solo films was never even heard of. They practically invented that(and unfortunately mentally conditioned everyone to think you can only do it this one specific way). I mean has a team up movie NEVER worked before the MCU? George MIller was working on a JL movie back in the day. What if that had come out and got great reviews and made a ton of money? You know one of the main reasons Marvel did what they did in the beginning? Because those characters were practically nobodies in the mainstream media. While characters like Batman, Supes, and WW were, as I said before, household names. I think I may have said this in my last comment, but I was on youtube the other day watching the old JL cartoon intro and one of the top comments was "Remember when these guys were the elite superhero group and the avengers were nobodies?". Marvel was forced to start from the very beginning and build from the ground up. There was no way they could start their universe with "Iron Man v Captain America". DC is not in that position. BvS literally had one polarizing movie prior to it, and look at how much hype and anticipation it still managed to generate? As I said, it initially sold on name alone. Made about 420 million globally on opening weekend. Thats tremendous. The "it was rushed" thing was not why the movie recieved poor reviews. And look, if Nolan had not done what he did and were we in the same position, they most likely would have done a Batman movie before Dawn of Justice. The Nolan trilogy was literally why they decided not to. And I thought it worked just fine. Everybody knows Batman and he is at the height of his popularity now. He is still fresh in everyone's mind. Plus they go with an older Batman that almost seems like where Bale left off. So you combine all this and it felt natural in the movie despite not having a solo film prior. Wonder Woman was honestly done extremely well in my opinion. You don't even have to know who she is for it to work. Thats what was so great about it. And now she gets her solo film to expand on her backstory later this year. Fine. So now the three most important characters are established. SO All they have to do is work with Cyborg, FLash, and Aquaman. SUperman wont be there for most of the movie so thats one less character to juggle around. You know why team up movies other than The Avengers work? Because the narrative is structured differently. Its built so as to introduce and form the team in one movie instead of going straight into the action like avengers did. Combining the popularity of the name "Justice League" with DCs already established universe, and there will be plenty of anticipation once that trailer finally drops.         I totally understand why you don’t think that DCEU is rushing, but there are plenty of reasons to show they are, and why this is a problem. One of them being that the rush detrimentally affected BvS as a film because it lost focus on the story.
        Batman vs Superman was taken from TDR, but their battle took a lifetime in the making - it was at the end of their careers, where they began to disagree ideologically speaking. This was an arc ending story, and BvS made it into an arc beginning story that makes no sense. That's what rushing does to a film franchise.
        True, pre-MCU the idea that you build up a cinematic universe with solos was never done before. But that’s because there was never a chance for it to happen. Beyond DC and Marvel, what other franchise could have done the patient build-up of solo films? None. That’s why it hasn’t happened before. Sure, George Miller tried, but one of the many reasons why it was pulled was because it didn’t make sense to parachute a JL film out of nowhere in the middle of TDKT. MCU have changed the game by showing you can be successful and create huge anticipation by patiently building up the franchise. They are doing something similar with Godzilla and King Kong. Patient build up to big marque crossovers. It’s the new normal, and to think that general audiences are going to like franchises that skip all the hard work and go straight to the team up is just pure fantasy. That’s why people were upset with the JL e-mail scene. It was terribly done. DCEU took 4 minutes what took Marvel 4 years.
        This raises another reason why DCEU’s rushing doesn’t work. It isn’t great storytelling. By slowly building up tension, energy and pace towards each Avenger’s film, they are adhering to the good traits of storytelling but on a larger scale. I’ve never picked up a Marvel comic in my life, but I can’t wait for Infinity War, much like I couldn’t wait for Civil War. Why? Because the steady development of character and story is what makes great films and great franchises. We have a greater, dramatic arc for Iron Man, Cpt America etc because of this. It’s good storytelling. TDKT does the exact same thing. Yes, I think MCU needed to do this because a lot of their characters were not well known, but this is a positive thing to do irrespective of franchise because it's great storytelling.
        Was it necessary for DCEU to do a patient build-up of solo films before climaxing with JL? No, it could still have been successful, in theory, but it would have been extremely difficult because it’s trying to be extremely ambitious with JL. If it had less to do then it could have worked. As it happens, the JL film will now have to deal with the Flash, Batman murdering ramifications, Cyborg, Aquaman, Superman (?), Steppenwolf, the mother boxes and Darkseid(?) It’s crammed with undeveloped characters because it's rushed. You can’t just throw in these great, interesting characters like that and hope that it will all make sense in the film. Sure, we know of Batman, and we know of Superman, but we don’t know THIS Batman or THIS Superman well enough. And we barely know this world. This especially because BvS did such a poor job in articulating their stories and character arcs. This is a different world and the DCEU needs to lay good foundations first. It hasn’t done that, in fact it’s rushing towards characters with no development. That means we will be less interested in them; that also means we understand them less; and that means that we will like them less too. You mention that the narrative is structured differently of JL than it is for Avengers. That’s special pleading, you have no reason to say that. Again, this is about focusing on storytelling and characters, the foundation of all great films, and rushing into JL is antithetical to that. Mark my words, JL will be an unmitigated disaster of a film because it will need to do too much in one film.
        With regards to how BvS did at the box office, yes, it’s first week was amazing. That says something about the anticipation there was for a Batman AND a Superman film. BUT, it’s second week falling off the cliff is extremely revealing. Bad reviews, bad word of mouth and people who didn’t like it and didn’t want to watch it again (like me) all affected the film. The truth is that it’s final $800m plus is a major overreach for what many believe to be one of that worst films of 2016. Some say it’s one of the biggest blockbusters that’s flopped critically.
        Am I underestimating JL? Look, no offense, but compared with most young kids in here, I know much more about JL than most. I’ve been a Batman fan for 30 years. I’ve been waiting for a JL film all of that time. I’m not underestimating anything. I am being realistic, given the context of the failings of WB, the failings of DCEU, and the failings of Zack Snyder. If anything, saying that I think JL MIGHT be ‘meh’ would be overly-optimistic. The problem is that just sounds like you want to defend DCEU from the barrage of legitimate criticisms. You need to be honest with yourself and not protect the franchise from legitimate criticism just because you love the characters. Truth and reason should triumph that.

        I know the argument about how no-one should have expected this film to reach in excess of $1 billion. It's fanboy baloney, told to reassure themselves so they can sleep at night. They had a huge budget with the biggest superheroes in history together for the first time...and they got creamed by CA:CW and JUST beat first timers GotG by a $100 million or so. I should have gone to that film a dozen times, like the trilogy. Me, a Batman fan for 30 of my 35 years. I went once. And by God once was enough.
        We need to stop making excuses for this film. It's getting embarrassing.

        I’m aware of this hideous argument about comparing the Marvel and DCEU films sequentially. It’s special pleading by DC fanboys in a bid to ‘explain away’ from the real issue –BvS was one of the worst films of 2016.
        So what if CW was the 13th? Sure, it manage to attract fans of Marvel, but that’s a given. If anything, for every non-fan that went because she watched all 12 before, there’s another fan who would not go based on fan fatigue. There are no reliable statistics to show us WHY sequences matters. Besides, Marvel needed to world build their characters for CW. Batman and Superman have no need for 12 films, just at least one to world build. Even if these were different characters from what audiences are used to, their essential appeal is there in a way that isn’t there for relatively new kids on the block MCU. BvS should have knocked it out of the park. The film died because of word of mouth and bad legs – all to do with how bad the film was.
        The elephant in the room is this: good films, good reviews, good word of mouth and good legs, are all necessary conditions to great, successful films. That is why CA knocked it out of the park, and that’s why BvS struck out.

        i think when you recap what went wrong with the last 2 movies its easy to say that it could´ve been better. Ayer realizes he made some stuff wrong. Zack just wanted to much and got problem with the script. I mean we dont know if its entirely WB fault. maybe they just had a bad day, a lot of pressure and not enough time. I hope the next 2 are really better.

BvS was much crazier throughout it's marketing schedule, and JL isn't getting the same kind of attention. Also, Force Awakens' trailers were huge! And Episode VIII is going to be the same kind of huge. There's no comparison there, no matter how you try to spin it.

The trailer can't be attached to Kong... I'm honestly calling it and saying it will be released at Comic Con. So it wouldn't overshadow Wonder Woman, I expect the final trailer for WW in Kong but no JL trailer... I'm willing to wait for the JL trailer

  I don't understand this sudden rationale as to why JL "can't" or "won't" have a trailer before WW, because "it would overshadow the movie" or something. Lots of different movies have lots of different trailers all the time. Why would that suddenly change?

    Allow me to explain and don't get me wrong I'm not against you or anything but I just think releasing a trailer for JL it's to soon. We're almost 8 to 9 months away from JL, we've already had a get together footage for comic con and then a BTS wrap up video. I think they should wait. Yeah other movies but comic book movies are diffferent well some are. I just have a feeling that focus you're marketing on WW drop a trailer a month before or the month that WW comes out not only will it hype people to see WW but also get them ready for the JL marketing. Also we'll be 4-5 months away from JL perfect window to drop Trailers and images and interviews. That's just me though. But yeah BvS and SS did release trailers look how those movies turned out. Let's wait. If the trailer comes out before then come back and say I'm wrong

      The first official trailer (the comicon trailer) for Batman v Superman was 8 months before the movie, so they could release a trailer in march/april. At the same time, I don't think that a JL Trailer will overshadow the WW movie, in the contrary, it will rise the hype for this movie too.

  JL is big movie. WB going to show it's trailer in front of most big wb movie from now on, specially on front of Wonder Woman and Dunkirk. Not showing JL trailer in front of these movies is big mistake.
  If WB release trailer at comic con, it will get only few home production movies like Annabelle2 and Ninjengo to show trailer. So WB have to release trailer before WW.
  Now Wonder woman is 3 months away. This is a quarter of year. It not going to overshadow WW. Instead if people like JL trailer, it's going to make people more interested in WW and vice versa.

I never noticed that this site has a Snyder tag before. It even leads back to 2013. The very second such article is a goody. "Zack Snyder likely to direct ‘Justice League’ if ‘Man of Steel’ is a success".
Dreams came true. At least for me.
Kong should be a logical choice for the trailer and Logan will soon go wide too. I mostly look forward to see Kirby designs on screen with the 1st proper trailer, highlighting Diana would make sense too. Choosing to prominently use a song in the teaser was very interesting btw. Very Watchmen. I wonder if that will continue into the film.

  Back in the day, when I heard a certain Superman movie was to be made and saw Zack's name, I didn't know him even tho I watched all his movies so far. When I saw he was the mastermind behind Watchmen, I was like "GAME ON!". Since then, I'm just so happy he's the one helming the DCEU and I'd love to see him direct more than just the JL. But he'll be present on every single DC movies as an executive producer/producer, so I'm happy.

  It was one of the first licensed games ever, the first superhero game ever (comic too i think) and the cotemporary reviews were favorable. That is evolution but i am still waiting on a good Superman game. Blizzard´s TDoS adaptation on the Snes came closest...

Yeah I thought I had heard about this from him. Extremely interesting if he goes with the story.     Josh Trank. It really saddens me about what FOX did to him with Fantastic Four. I mean you can clearly see his amazing work in Fantastic Four, on the first part of the movie. The progress was great. Character development and all then they killed him with budget cut and bringing that useless producer in it.
    So the Josh Trank sabotage is real and it was really sad. They destroyed a guy with great directing skills.

      I enjoyed some parts of Fantastic Four, but I still think he was the wrong choice to direct the film. What had signaled red flags to me was that he only directed one film before Fantastic Four.

        I don't think he was the wrong choice. And what FOX did to him, hit him pretty hard. I think he might even put his directing carrier on hold.
        Chronicle was an amazing movie. When I went to see it, it's because we were between friends and there was nothing else at the theaters at time and I was glad that I got to see this. Even ended up buying it. I think he can easily manage a superhero movie after seeing Chronicle. Too bad FOX had him and destroyed him.

        Too bad Fox didn't let the rights of the Fantastic Four characters go, otherwise they would've showed up in the masterpiece which is Civil War. You know, like Spidermanboy.
        And BvS was also a big contender, thank goodness the press had enough sanity to build up the hate on it before it came out.
        Deadpool was a wildcard, so it had to be cautiously praised.

What I find extremely interesting is how many "news" sites have seemingly popped up over 2016 since BvS released. Just random-ass and oddly named sites. Even when they report on actual news pieces, confirmed by reliable trades, there are ALWAYS backhanded comments about the DCEU in them. I guess we'll see what comes of this.
