Despite several stars of The Batman, including Ben Affleck himself, saying production is scheduled to start this spring, a new report from Batman-on-Film says otherwise.
A longtime source of BOF's says that production has been pushed back by "a couple of months". That means it's likely to get started later this summer, and that rumored July 2018 release date is probably no longer in sight.

He has a handwritten note from Christopher Nolan on his wall. I'm no fan of BOF, but he does have good sources within WB.
You would of gotten one of those those if this site was around then. Don't read to much into that. I mean his only source on the last movie was that Dr. Detroit guy, who's only info was on the Batmobile. He has also tried to claim in the past he isn't a "scoop" site.
You are deliberately trashing a good site.
BoF has constantly been credible throughout it's history. Recently, BoF called it on Affleck to play Batman; they called it on Affleck then to do a solo film with him starring and directing. Even more recently, BoF has predicted a lot of the turmoil in WB that we are now seeing. For example, BoF has often spoken about the difficulty of a FLASH film getting into production - and this was before the film lost two directors. It has a relationship with insiders cause they respect it, and they respect it. It doesn't do scoop, spoliers or clickbait. It has integrity and everybody knows it. You're just pissing over them cause they've upset your applecart.
There's no basis for you to say that BOF isn't a credible source.

The site looks like it was designed in the 90s and the guy who runs it has a very snarky tone. I wanted to create a beautiful, easy to use website and treat you guys with a little more respect.

A film that is eleven months away, being edited, and developing visual effects, is "a mess." It isn't even done, much less nobody would know until it is done. They tried this with Wonder Woman, Patty hadn't shown anybody shit yet. And that whole Batman will be produced in the spring was never confirmed it was always rumor and still neither officially yes OR no. News these days is just Reddit level "leaks" that when proven wrong are reported as "changes." Can we not keep doing this? Can we go back to tangible news like in the Nolan days? When we ACTUALLY found shit or waited for things?

After BvS and Suicide Squad, I'd bet people won't be suckered in just because of a well made trailer... It can help, but it won't be that important as it was for previous films.
Is that why after BvS was completely destroyed by critics, and it didn't even crack the top 5 for 2016 releases?

Reviews do matter for movies. People aren't just going to go to a movie that they suspect have enough bang for their buck. There are some movies that can escape this, and BvS did make a lot of money when compared to regular films, but for the movie it was, if it had had good reviews (if it was a good film), then it would have made a shit ton more. Not every movie goer is influenced, that's fucking obvious, no one said every movie goer does, but a lot of them do. I really have no idea why you feel the need to shun these thoughts immediately. It doesn't help to ignore an issue.
Worst argument ever. With the internet at anyone's fingertips, things like this are easy to check out. Go to IMDB and see. Go to Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic and see.
Sure the general audience might forget the reviews for the other movies of the franchise, but word of mouth is incredibly important, and that's what also didn't help Batman v Superman... And if JL turns out as bad as BvS, then word of mouth won't be great, and people won't bother with it, especially since JL comes out in a month full of other big movies to watch with their families (star wars comes out some weeks later, Thor comes out 2 weeks before if I'm not mistaken, for example). It does matter, because even if word of mouth isn't as bad as critics' scores, it'll be right around the ballpark and definitely influence the movie's box office.
First, almost all of the "Top 5" films of 2016 were very much family-friendly; BvS was not. So that was a big chunk of change WB deliberately left on the table when they green-lit the whole approach to the DCEU.
Second, I think a large chunk of the "negative word-of-mouth," to paraphrase you, came from the dissimilarity to Marvel's product. One anecdote: a close relative of mine, in her mid-twenties and not a comics reader at all, didn't like BvS, and the first concrete reason she could tell me was "where were the cheesy jokes? Those are the best part of superhero movies!" My hunch is that many members of the GA who disliked the film may have had a similar reaction. For me, a film that has the balls to honestly pose the question "where does Bruce Wayne end up after staring into the abyss for 20 years?" and to build its whole structure around ideas like Man vs God and the Problem of Evil, winds up being one I've been mulling over in my head for 9 months now.

Was The Dark Knight trilogy family friendly? Nope. Yet, two of the three made more than a billion, without shared universes, without super powers and no cheesy jokes (it had jokes, but it was mostly banter between the characters and it all felt natural)... But with damn good writing, directing and acting... Maybe that's something to consider there! You wanna know other movies that made a shit ton of money and weren't family friendly? Terminator 2 (adjusted for inflation, it made 414M dollars in the US alone... more than BvS, SS or Man of Steel, all much more family friendly), Passion of the Christ made more than BvS as well in the US, R rated too, Deadpool this fucking year made more in the US, 2 out of the 3 Lords of the Rings movies, and also American Sniper, just to give examples...
It has nothing to do with family friendly. Sure, it can help out those movies that are, but in no way shape or form is it the deal breaker, and it definitely wasn't the reason why Civil War made more. Reviews, word of mouth, and the franchise itself helped Civil War do it, because the franchise has been doing well time and time again, and people like that. BvS was heavily criticized and very divisive, and you can like it, love it or enjoy it all you want (hell, I know I fucking enjoyed it), but you can't deny it underperformed, and it should have made a hell of a lot more, and you can't deny this divisiveness is not good for the franchise or the movies themselves. It only makes for controversy, and not selling tickets, which is the main reason for these movies to exist in the first place. Now if only WB could see the main issue with it: wrong director, bad screenplay.

It was a movie doomed by the start by the audience, though. Nobody wanted it, it had no movie star that actually attracts any kind of audience, and for further information check the trailers' dislikes... Just because a movie does well with critics, it doesn't mean it'll do well at the box office. Shawshank Redemption, is hailed as one of the best movies of all time, but at the box office it bombed hard. Tons of examples are out there.
I never said critics are the most important thing. I simply said that for movies like BvS or Civil War (which are poised to make money at the box office, no matter what) critics and word of mouth are important in order to maximize profits. Might want to read and understand what has been written before replying immediately.

I talked about how critics and word of mouth are important for movies like this, which they are and it's a fact (see: Batman V Superman's box office), and you replied about movies that have good reviews but didn't do so well at the box office, which wasn't the point and is something else entirely.
What does IMDB have to do with critics? isn't that more of a fan site?
I wouldn't say it was "beloved" by critics; they simply didn't rate it as bad as word of mouth (the real culprit for its failure) said it was.

Sorry but there's been no concrete news on "The Batman" since December 15th, when they [Ben himself, confirming previous statements by actors and producers on the film] announced production starting in Spring. Since then, it's all just been speculation based on one sentence in, most definitely, an old article (yes, I'm talking about The Guardian's January 1st bombshell that started this whole bag of nonsense) that was probably out of context. Until WB or Affleck himself makes a statement, all these "new" reports every day of the movie don't mean a damn thing.

These aren't REPORTS, they are unsubstantiated RUMORS. Also, DC has already took the leap of faith and there's no way in hell they're going to put the brakes on now or, based on box office receipts alone, anytime soon. They're moving ahead, constantly, and if they have to continue to make changes to their schedule in order to stay ahead (ie; Harley's success in 'SS' prompted them to move on a different project with her -- 'GCS') then they will ultimately do that. See what worked over the past few years, what didn't and build accordingly. The DCEU isn't going anywhere.

It's nothing personal, but I think the atmosphere here is far more toxic than on BoF. Any insults and abuse (take a look at this thread sir) are eliminated on BoF, and the discussion is almost always constructive and respectful. And for the site to be labelled as "click-bait" is beyond parody. That's why I as a Batman fan go there, and not here. Again, it's nothing personal, sir.
Yeah, I understand. Batman News gets more traffic in a month than BOF gets in a year, so there's definitely a bigger and more rowdy bunch here. I even try to stay out of the comments section sometimes. It's crazy.
My point is just because I go to BoF doesn't mean I cannot go to other Batman sites too in principal. But I don't feel welcome on this site, either on the messageboards, or, again with all due respect, the way some things are reported. Batman News may well have quantity, but I'd settle for the quality of BoF any day.

Firstly, if your comment is removed, there is a message left in its place 'Comment deleted'. I don't see this anywhere on the BoF page. Secondly, some have actually posted the link to the article on BoF, and the owner has not removed it. Thirdly, a lot worse things have been said to the BoF owner that have not been deleted by the owner. And finally, Forbes magazine has just reported that THE BATMAN will be delayed too.
All in all, your tale of events seems rather questionable.
Firstly, my comment was pending for approval. It was removed before anyone else other than the moderator could see it.
Secondly, it was my first comment on that site. I saw his other comments where he calls himself "thick-skinned", from my first hand experience, he's anything but.
Thirdly, he even blocked me on twitter for calling him out and I didn't use any inappropriate language. I questioned him and he blocked me.
And finally, I don't have anything to gain by all this. And my twitter mutuals have also had similar experiences with 'Jett'.
So now it wasn't "removed", just never posted. That's very different. First comments are notorious because there is a verification process.
Secondly, as I said, someone's already posted the video on the site and it hasn't been removed by Jett, so it doesn't make sense.
Third, the video doesn't undermine anything that Jett said, since he was suggest possibilities, not facts. The Forbes article even confirms this.
Fourthly, and I can't stress this enough, Jett's suffered a profound amount of abuse from 'fans' over this, and a lot of it is still left on the site. Likewise on Twitter. I hear a lot hearsay about him, nothing substantiated.
There seems to be an awful lot of vitriol directed at BoF on here and I'm not entirely sure why. He said THE BATMAN is being pushed back and he offered possibilities as to why, not facts. All this has been confirmed by Forbes. As for JL being a "mess", no-one can expects him to reveal his source on it (that's the point of leaks) but BoF has a history of calling it right because it's a credible non-clickbait site that is respected by insiders.

As I’ve said, first posts are subject to verification. I know this; this isn’t my first account. If you were to post sensibly as a first timer, like ‘Hey Jett, this video disproves what you say’ (although it doesn’t) I’m sure it would have been approved. I have to say, it’s one heck of a first post – to goad the owner like that (not to mention utterly irrelevant to article). Since worse stuff was posted, it must have been a combination of it being your first post, your ‘eccentric’ way of making a point, and the fact that it’s a little irrelevant to what he was saying.
And once again, I have your word to take on what you said to him on Twitter. I’m hearing a lot of 'this person says this', or 'this person says that', but very little else in info. I see the evidence on the site, and it’s pretty clear he has a thick skin to leave up a lot of the nonsense he gets.

He didn’t like BvS (that isn’t exactly controversial), and although he doesn’t like his take on Batman (again, not exactly a controversial opinion), he does like Zack Snyder personally. Jett has a long record for getting things right because of this. Most recently, he called it on Affleck becoming Batman, he called it that Affleck would be asked to star and direct a Batman film before BvS was finished; he called it on THE FLASH having lots of production problems before any director left the project. I could go on. Even Chris on here accepts this point. So for you to say that a reliable site for information with reliable connections (and never spoils or clickbaits) is “spreading rumors” is an indefensible position to take.
There seems to be a profound amount of misinformation about Jett and BoF on here and an unhealthy attempt to vilify it. This isn't "cross examination" by any stretch of the imagination. BoF is a great site that has delivered reliable Batman related news for nearly 20 years. I don't agree with Jett on everything, but it never resorts to clickbait, spoils, or undermines those behind the scenes making Batman films. This is why it is respected and relied upon - it has integrity. It's a shame (but perhaps not surprising) that one of the few places that doesn't respect it are some fans on here.

I know nothing, therefore I'll say nothing. What I'll say is that all I want is Snyder to finish his run smoothly with JL so the boat keeps sailing and is all uphill from there! While there's a big chance these rumors are fake, it still worries me.
From what I've gathered after all the articles I've read, conversations, etcetera, it appears the negativity and hate was there for 'BvS' from the start. Not when it was released, but from when it was announced after "Man of Steel." From casting decisions to "professional" critics and bloggers spewing nothing but hatred towards the project, Affleck, Cavill as Superman and especially Snyder. It's easy to see why the reviews were nearly unanimous the second the pre-reviews became available.
So was The Dark Knight. So was Burton's Batman, so was Ant-Man, and the list goes on... Only difference is that these movies were well liked or flat out amazing and revolutionary. Stop with this conspiracy bullshit. A ton of people praised Affleck for his Batman role, and even got excited as fuck when talks about him directing his Batman solo movie first started. Maybe you should stop and think if the movie was actually simply not very good... Uh... Seems like a good idea, no?

DC fans here that are sceptical are so for good reasons, many of whom (including myself) aren't gonna keep our heads in the sand any longer.
The damage control from WB, directors leaving projects and lack of clear direction should be enough to concern anyone.
After a divisive MoS to some, a divisive / clunky BvS to many and then a train-wreck with SS, they don't deserve blind optimism anymore.
I'd love nothing more than for Snyder to prove me wrong with JL but the fact is that his track record states otherwise.
I don't call for a reboot of the franchise, but for a hard look at the issues that threatened to destroy our chance to have a worthy DCEU to the standard of what Marvel can achieve.
Fans that defend Snyder / WB, as well intentioned as they are.. aren't adding anything constructive towards improving the DCEU.

Snyder's track record is still good. We all know that WB jumped the gun by having him re-edit BvS instead of leaving it as the version that they supposedly had applauded after a screening.
Said it before and I'll say it again, Warner Bros would gain a lot by not rushing Ben Affleck and giving him the time he needs to make his film. They'll look good and it'll improve their reputation after all the stuff about them mucking about with the final edit of Suicide Squad. And Ben Affleck has proven he's a good director, give him time and I'm confident he'll give them (and us) the best Batman movie to date. He's been saying all the right things too, about how he doesn't want to half ass a Batman movie, he wants to do it properly.
Shame about the Justice League being a mess rumours though. Really isn't helping the DCEU's already iffy reception. I shudder to think what the IGN comments section is going to be like once they get around to reporting this...
Wouldn't surprise me. Affleck was recently spotted with a sober coach. I think he is not up to the task right now. They would be smart to find another director to take some of the pressure off.

In all seriousness, who knows anymore. It seems production on each of these movies run into this problem. The critics tell me these movies are bad. Fans tell me these movies are bad. But yet, I love them. So whatever happens will happen. It's tough to hear this though and for as optimistic and posivitive as I am, it would be nice for there to be some positivity around these movies for once.
Isn't Batman-on-Film usually DCEU-positive, though? I may be wrong as I don't visit there often, but it doesn't strike me as someplace that is eager to jump all over the slightest bad report like some other sites may be.

The timing is certainly interesting with the new photo coming out just yesterday. Oh well. I'll never understand all the negative attention the DCEU gets. If people don't like it, that's fine bc what is "good" is 100% subjective, every time, no matter what anyone tries to tell you. But all of the sites that report on anything negative DCEU, it's just crazy. I can't tell you how many new sites have popped up over the last couple of years reporting DCEU news. i think they just like to trash dc. The last 2 movies it was getting hyped for a movie and then getting super disappointed. Afterwards there is awesome stuff in the movie but it got cut so much and this whole extended thing is just annoying at this point. Somehow I knew you'd comment on this. I'm a consumer. I have choices on how to consume my DCEU news. Think of the news media. There are options- CNN, FOX, MSNBC. Each have their spin on news, events, politics, etc. People generally watch a channel that aligns with their personal views on said things. I see no difference with preferring this site over anything else. It's not about not being able to handle criticism. I read Batman News and post stuff here during free time from family obligations and work.

This is actually good news for us the fans. The objective comic fans not the fanboys who blindly worship Snyder and accept mediocrity. 2020 was the year originally discussed for The Batman but WB has been pushing for a 2018 ever since feedback from BVS cane back . The need to push and capitalize on the Batman brand is impulsive for WB seeing as its been its only cash cow in superhero movies(live action). After seeing the ins and outs of how the studio operates firsthand Ben has made no secret that he refuses to be rushed into releasing anything mediocre or premature. A 2019 release seems more likely for him to feel comfortable with the quality of the movie. Not sure how the other projects will work around a later release as far as a unilateral storytelling. Snyder/Johns claimed to have the entire DCEU mapped out but it seems at this poibt they're just making it up as they go along.
As far as JL being a mess im not shocked at all if true. Cant expect different results with the same formula. Snyder is a visual master but a stubborn sometimes overly ambitious storyteller. My bar for JL is set pretty low tbh just to avoid a let down like BVS and SS. I have higher hopes for WW though.

As a big DC fan I've been letdown twice in a row and see no reason to remotely even think this film can turn it around. I hope Ben makes WB pipe the fuck down and just takes his sweet time making the movie we deserve. WW does look amazing though
if wonder woman does suck, i will kinda lose faith in the dceu. Maybe justice league and then thats it
MoS was an editing / pacing mess, as was the Ultimate Cut of BvS before WB chopped it down for theatres.
You can point the finger at WB all you want but these divisive interpretations of DC characters have come from Synder. He's a visual master but a poor storyteller, it's evident in how long his raw cuts of films are.. up to 4hrs long. Inevitably leaving him in a situation where he has to cut a film that is awkwardly paced and haphazardly edited.

Man that sucks. I gotta say I'm not all the surprised but I was hoping Snyder would at least be able to put together something decent for his final DC film(I honestly can't see DC giving this guy another shot if this bombs critically). I feel for Affleck Cavill and Gadot the most because they genuinely seemed so invested in their respective characters.
BvS didn't bomb at the box office, however, I was disappointed that a movie with Batman and Superman headlining didn't reach 1 billion and I'm sure that WB felt the same way

Are you fucking kidding me with this? That's literally all Snyder's movies are: eye candy. You can't keep with this argument of complexity and depth when nothing helps prove your argument. Nothing! You can like it, you can love it, but you can't seriously make claims about what it is when it's not true. Loving something does not equal that being the best thing ever. If it was, he definitely would have gotten recognition for that. Movie goers, movie criticis, etc, love giving recognition, just look at celebrated directors like Kubrick, Spielberg, Scorcese, or Tarantino. All loved, all have won awards, etc. Snyder is not hated because there's a conspiracy around him. What in the world would even spark that controversy. People even liked his Dawn of the Dead remake at the time. Nothing special, nothing to write home about, just an entertaining, violent zombie flick, and he even got some recognition for how 300 looked. Again, nothing special in the acting or writing department, but it looked really good. But that's all Snyder is. He makes excellent visuals, but usually in his movies, the shot takes precedence to logic and common sense, and in most of his movies, it really looks like he built the movie around beautiful shots instead of the story (which is the case for BvS). You can love him and have him as your favourite director, no is asking you to do otherwise, but to claim his movies are that good because they are misunderstood? That's the argument of "filmmakers" like Neil Breen... That's pathetic and wrong, and you probably know that as well.

Yeah I get that but I'm thinking that WB MUCH RATHER have their films make a ton of money AND be at least decent. Sooner or later audiences will stop coming if this trend continues.
BOF like or not has been pretty accurate with their reporting. I really don't see why I shouldn't trust the source just because its goes against what you believe.
