Last week the internet noticed that DC Films co-head Geoff Johns and The Batman star Joe Manganiello started following actor Armie Hammer on Twitter. This lead to speculation that he may have joined The Batman or another DC Comics movie.

Hammer noticed the fan theories, and had some fun by trolling them on Twitter. Manganiello quickly joined in to do the same. And last night, it continued.

Armie Hammer posted the photo above with Joe Manganiello on Instagram and captioned it "men at work". Manganiello shared the same photo on Twitter and said "Burning the midnight oil with my man Armie Hammer". Geoff Johns then retweeted Manganiello's tweet.

I am now convinced that Armie Hammer has a role in The Batman. This is obviously just a wild guess on my part, but with all this social media teasing, and now Geoff Johns' involvement, I don't see how this could lead to anything else.

Earlier this week Manganiello said that he begins working on The Batman this month. Is that what he was doing with Hammer last night? Were they studying the script on the iPad that's in the photo? I don't know... maybe! Let me know what you make of all this in the comments below.

    In all seriousness, I've been a fan of his since The Lone Ranger (not the best movie, but he gave a good performance). If he's on board The Batman (or whatever it's called), all the better. As far as potential casting goes, I don't know... maybe Black Mask? Could we potentially have a Nightwing this old? I doubt it. He seems too thin to be playing someone like Hush (compared to Affleck's size anyway).

      I don't understand why people lose their shit when someone thin or fat is cast for playing someone beefy. There is something called gym and usually the actors are accompanied by a personal trainer and undergo strict diets just to have the type of body that is required.

        plus special effects is a thing. I'm pretty sure they fixed up Affleck in post for BvS, not that he wasn't in good shape, but I don't think he was in THAT good shape.

      Haven't seen The Lone Ranger but I enjoyed Armie and Superman together in Man From U.N.C.L.E. Underrated flick.

    I think he is going to play a young Batman. Look at him. He is like young Ben Affleck. Also, he was going to play Batman in the cancelled film, Justice League Mortal.

          I agree, I think he'd be exceptional, probably better than Eastwood...

          But thinking long term, getting 4 or more films from him, Eastwood is only 30, whereas Hardy is 40 next year. Another possibility is Aidan Turner.

    In my opinion, I think Bryan Cranston would be an awesome Black Mask.

      Depends if you include the TV universe - the list grows a bit thin at that point.... Calendar Man? Nah, just joking. He'd be a good Black Mask, Two Face, or maybe even Man-Bat.
      But i would LOVE Cranston to be cast as Clayface. I dont think we'll see it in a major DCEU film, but i think he'd work perfectly there. Aging actor, trying to get back into his mojo... WITH MONSTROUS SIDE EFFECTS!

    Sorry,but Hammer couldn't play Black Mask.He just doesn't have the intensity or the craziness to pull that role off.

    He would be a great Hal Jordan, but in a Batman movie Im placing by bets on Nightwing or young Bruce Wayne. He doesn't have the "villain" look. Also, didn't Armie Hammer used to be blonde? Looks like he dyed his hair for a certain part!

      What is it with people thinking he'll play a young Bruce Wayne? He is not "young" enough for that first of all. Second of all why would WB pay someone to do that when they can just enhance Ben with CGI. I really don't understand the logic of some folks.

          Eh it's just wishful thinking on my end but he would make for a great Lincoln March. I highly doubt Ben and Geoff would incorporate him in a movie though

      And if you'd only seen Gary Oldman in Batman you probably wouldn't think he could play a villain either yet some of his greatest performances ever are as villains.
      Hammer was in a few movies just recently, he probably dyed it for that.

    I'd be happy with Hal Jordan, Harvey Dent, or Knightwing. Seeing that Bruce Wayne is older, maybe Knightwing is older...?

    But how about something we're not expecting like Firefly?

    the young Batman theory is hilarious, where's the logic? "Lets cast a whole different actor and spend millions on his salary rather than using make up and SFX just to make him look 15 years younger"
    As much as I'd like to see him as Hal I really doubt he'd have any scenes with Deathstroke. Looks to me like he plays a bad guy like Hush, Two Face, Black Mask, Red Hood...
    He doesn't look like Nightwing to me but it wouldn't bother me either. I just would've liked to see him with long hair

    Scrolling through the comments, seems like the best guess he will be playing either Nightwing or Hal Jordan. I would be good with either one. Really like Armie a lot, good acting talent with excellent charisma. I need to rewatch Man from U.N.C.L.E again, he was fantastic in that.

        Same. Ben Affleck hasn't disappointed in the writing and directing departments. Even if it isn't as good as The Town or Argo, I'm sure it'll still be oscar worthy, or at least incredibly entertaining. I love gangster movies, so I can't wait for his take on the genre, especially set in the prohibition era!

    There is no way Hammer is Nightwing. Not happening. Black Mask? I truly can't see it. I'd love to see Black Mask in a Bat film but I can't see him portraying Roman Sionis. Hal Jordan's Green Lantern I can see happening. He's not my first pick for the role but I think him as GL is very possible. If he really is in the upcoming Batman film and he is a villain (maybe one of those rumored to be in Arkham Asylum), I could see him getting the chance to play a very sinister Riddler. However, he is younger than I want him to be, especially with a Batman that is 20 years deep in his crusade.

    I have to say, Armie Hammer isn't really my first choice for anything (no offense to him) because I think Jude Law would make a perfect Riddler, but in the biz (like most places), it can be more about who you know than actually looking the part like fans want and getting the role on those terms, of course assuming that the actors' acting is legit. Movie magic does wonders and it's not like Hollywood has always been the best regarding getting characters spot on. I certainly think Ben will go out of his way though to please us as fans and make this comic-book accurate. He knows how much is riding on this and he is no doubt bringing his A-game.

    For all we know, Joe Mags and Armie Hammer could be playing us all and he's not even linked to Batman or Green Lantern. Joe Mags in the pic above could be showing Hammer on the laptop a health food regimen to bulk up so he can become Shazam and play opposite Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. We still have no casting for Shazam. Whatever happens, I'm interested to see how this all plays out.

        Dick shouldn't be taller and bigger than Bruce so I really hope he isn't Nightwing.

          Agreed. Hammer clocks in at 6'5" and Affleck at 6'4". Affleck has him in bulk but it's still an odd pairing to make Hammer Nightwing. There are much better choice actors out there to choose from.

        Hollywood is notorious for not getting things spot on, especially in the comic book world, but in my opinion, he just doesn't have the look or vibe or height or much of anything else for the character that one could think of regarding Dick Grayson. Wait... I will say that he has the age range to be Nightwing on screen compared to our older Batfleck, but that's where the similarities end for me. He's not the one. I am very curious to see where he lands in our DC Universe though.

        By the way, I think I scrolled down here and saw someone mention that maybe he'll portray a younger Batman--that's a interesting possibility. Maybe in a flashback style kind of sequence. There is a similar look he has to a younger version of Affleck. If that was something in Affleck's script that he has for us, I wouldn't be opposed to Hammer being in that role. Maybe, a flashback happens where he faces a younger Deathstroke... and maybe he loses in their first encounter. That could be very cool and I'd be for him if that was a role up for grabs. I'd prefer that over him being Nightwing or Green Lantern honestly.

    But he wouldn't be old to be Nightwing! Supposedly the ages of Bruce and Clark are the same as their actors, that means that Bruce is 45 years old. Armie has 30 years, if he's Nightwing that makes him 15 years younger than Batman. So if Batman started to operate when he was 25, Dick was 10, and Bats could've perfectly adopted Dick one or two years later. He might have been Robin for, IDK, 6 or 7 years, and then adopted the identity of Nightwing, and has operated like that for the past 11 or 12 years... That would fit!

    Some great suggestions in the comments. Though my picks are....
    Jean Paul Valley > Hal Jordon > Harvey Dent > Dick Grayson > Shazam > in that order.

    In fact, jean Paul, Azrael, would be perfect. Not only can he put on a great European accent (where is Azrael from anyway?) but he could potentially carry the mantel of the Bat at some point. Hammer deserves one small moment in the suit I think!

      I would like to see him as Jean Paul Valley, and I would like to see the character done properly, for once. He also makes sense as Harvey Dent, but I don't think they'll use him, too recent in Nolan's movies. But I would really, really like to see him as Tommy Elliot. Hush has never been used in movies, and he's a character that would do so well in the big screen...

      Funny you mention, Azrael... I was truly considering that as well but didn't write it among the villains I thought he could be in this post. The more I think about it, the more I think that could be a possibility. It's at least a good idea that's for sure. If that's the case, I hope we can get the blonde roots as well. Someone had mentioned on here that maybe he could play a younger Batman, which also is very interesting. I could picture him as a young Affleck in a flashback sequence of some sort. In this way, he gets to carry the mantle and maybe face off against a younger Deathstroke. It could be a series of small moments throughout the film but it could turn out to be epic!

      Now that they say he is cast for "The Batman" movie, I now doubt very much he is Hal/GL. Would not make sense. I see him being a Batman character, Dick/Nightwing or Jason/Redhood. Due to Armie's age, leaning to an older Nightwing. Let's hope. We need a good actor to bring Dick Grayson to the big screen.
