Welcome to the latest edition of Twitter Detective! Twitter activity has proved to mean something in the world of DC Comics movies, so I thought it'd be worth taking a look at the latest development.

Both DC Films co-head Geoff Johns, and star of The Batman, Joe Manganiello, have started following actor Armie Hammer on Twitter this week. Hammer, 30, certainly has the look of a guy who belongs in a superhero movie. Could he have joined the cast of Ben Affleck's Batman movie, which is expected to start shooting next spring?

Obviously this is speculation, but as I mentioned, Twitter activity like this has meant something in the past. Who do you think Armie Hammer could play in The Batman, or perhaps a different movie in the DC Films universe? Let me know in the comments below!

Fun fact: Armie Hammer was cast as Batman in a 2007 Justice League movie that was cancelled due to a writer's strike. He also starred in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. last year with Superman himself, Henry Cavill.

      Hush was my first thought for a villain. He would actually REALLY nail Harvey Dent though, now that you mention it. Holy crap.

      WOW. Awesome idea. Never thought of Hammer as anyone but Hal but Harvey Dent would be incredible....

      My first thought was Hush too. But a little young for either role? Thomas Elliott should be the same age as Bruce Wayne.

        The characters could be without the actors needing to be. Armie can pull it off here.

        yeah both two-face and hush are supposed to be the same age as Bruce, same with the other members of JL, right? But they made DCCU Batman at least 10-15 older than other JL members. And Deathstroke is also much younger. So they are not sticking to that.

        Agreed. He is too young for both. Affleck's Batman is 20 years into his crusade. Neither works for Armie Hammer. And an reimagining of that would suck and be unnecessary.

      What about Nightwing. He could take over Affleck's mantle down the line. Hammer is just 30 years old, he can be in it for the real long haul lol.

          He doesn't have the Dick Grayson vibe to me. And I agree, he is too tall. It may seem minor to some but it matters. My personal pick for Nightwing is Sean Faris. I think he'd be excellent. But anyway, I agree, no go for Nightwing.

            If you're referring to my choice of Sean Faris, not at all. Sure, at 34, Nightwing could be cast a bit younger than his age, but we are dealing with an older Batman who is beginning to gray and Sean Faris needs to contrast a young seasoned man in his prime that has the look and experience of being Robin in his early days and stepping into his own as Nightwing. He would be perfectly fine if he was cast and is in a solid age range for the part. I don't go into fan casting without considering all the variables.

            If Batman is 42-43 years old, you're not going to have a Dick Grayson who is 12-13 years younger than Bruce.

            We're not solely going by the actors' literal age here. I'm also factoring in the look. In Never Back Down, Sean Faris played a high school teenager when he was well in his 20's. As I said earlier, he can pull off a younger vibe but he is in a good range and look to portray someone who is young but seasoned for the Nightwing role. By the way, Batfleck in Batman v Superman has said to range in the mid 40s while others have said his 50s.

            Having taken that into consideration as well, I prefer Nightwing to be someone around the age range of Sean Faris, which can also allow for a younger Tim Drake to come on board. Personally, I am fan of 21 year old Ryan Potter on that front because the kid is talented, youthful and 100% has the look. If you haven't seen his youtube videos in auditioning for the role, I recommed taking a look.

    So I've had him as a fancast for GL for over a year. I said his demeanor, size and acting all fit GL.

      I can see him as Hal. It would be really hard to cast Sinestro that does not look small standing next to Armie.

      I'd be totally down for him to be Hal... But I'm not worried about GL casting. But I just want Luke Evans as Sinestro.... He looks just like him and could so pull that character off.

    This is most def for the Batman movie considering both Geoff and Joe are involved and I doubt Joe Mag would care about anything pass Batman or immediately follow so I'd say he's either a villain or Nightwing

      Isn't the current rumor that Deathstroke is gonna cameo in the JL movie?

      He'll probably appear in a future Suicide Squad sequel too - or even Teen Titans if they do that.

      I think Joe would be expecting to mingle with the rest of the DC movieverse.

    A lot of folks assume he's going to be playing Hal Jordan. I think that's a great casting choice!

      He looks literally nothing like Ben Affleck, and adults don't change their bone structure completely in like 10-15 years, which is their age difference. That really makes no sense.

        I don't think Hollywood stick to "looks". That young Han Solo actor does not look like Harrison Ford. And Ben Solo...does not inherent any beauty from Han and Leia lol

      Srly, they should convine all robins, and make a movie about red hood... just adapt under the red hood, and there, you have a great movie.
      And then just have Jason evolve from red hood into nighwing...

    He'd be perfect as Hal Jordan. But if it is for The Batman, then he would make a cool Red Hood. The Lone Ranger was just a speed bump, as far as I'm concerned. I thought he was great in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and he proved that he could do drama and action in that movie.

        The Lone Ranger was a horrible movie because of the script, tone, and directing. Hammer could have been great. I really hope they make a new Lone Ranger in the style of Open Range, 3:10 to Yuma,or Unforgiven or even the tone and style of GLory (a great Civil War movie).

        I hope he is Hal; just not in the Batman. I also hope Nightwing is in The Batman.

    He'll be a good pick for quite a few roles but I would much prefer him to be in a comic relief role like Hal or even Billy Batson. He seems to be in good shape and same height as The Rock so he won't look tiny compared to him.

    I like the Hal theory. But if he's in The Batman I doubt it'll be him. I also like him for Green Arrow.
    But my guess is Jason or Black Mask or some bad guy.

    I say he'd make a good Hal. Nightwing is another option but somehow I think he's too tall to be Dick.

      Too tall and definitely not alt rock (lol) enough for Dick - also maybe too classically handsome.

      If he were Hal though, I would definitely be excited to see him take a crack at it.

      My biggest hopes for him are Hush or Harvey Dent.

        Yeah I know what you mean. Dick in my eyes always has this youthful and cool and bright sort of beauty...maybe more of a pretty boy than a ruggedly handsome man. Hal on the other hand is good looking in a classic way. He was drawn based off Paul Newman for crying out loud.

    Been talk of Armie being cast in the DCEU for the last two years!
    I think he would be a good fit as GL/Hal Jordan or even as Shazam. As a baddie, perhaps as Roman Sionis/Black Mask, Two Face or Hush? Maybe even Nightwing?
