on Zack Snyder shares photo of Ben Affleck in his new 'Justice League' Batman costume

Today is Ben Affleck's last day of filming Justice League as Batman in his new "Tatical Batsuit", and to celebrate director Zack Snyder has shared a cool new image from the movie!

The image is dark, much like the hero himself, but you can see Ben Affleck's new Batsuit along with some high tech goggles. Behind him appears to be a broken down Batmobile... that thing just gets beat up in the DC Extended Universe!

This suit has more armor on it than the other one Batman was wearing in the Justice League group photo.

Here it is brightened up a bit so you can see more details:

Looks great, the cowl's ears are also longer which looks nice.

actually the cowl resembles the helm in his mech suit for bvs but i think the old cowl looks scarier as he grunt, this one doesn't have the same effect

They don't seem longer to me. They taper to a skinnier point, and are sloped at a more backward angle than before.

Nice suit, little bit of injustice version of Batman, little bit of Nite Owl from Watchmen, googles may look little weird, but i think he wear it for welding, maybe repairing batmobile. Still i prefer BvS suit.( SFME ).

You know I do wonder if we're going to get an alternate future after all, even though Superman won't be corrupted by Darkseid this time. I would love to see the heroes having to battle Darkseid and his army in a post-apocalyptic world like the one in the Knightmare scene but with better odds and finding a way with Flash to defeat Darkseid before it all went to shit. Or something like that. I think a story (or better said; a hook like that) would be perfect for JL2 don't you think?

Context goes a long way we have no idea how these will look in motion this is why pictures are so misleading

No context needed. Batman doesn't wear sunglasses looking eyes. Sorry. He has different cowls for different situations, but none look like this at all. His cowl looked great in BvS. This looks dumb.

Wow cool goggles, but it's an Elseworld. The movie is supposed to be an accurate representation of the main universe Batman. Snyder already messed that up by having him kill people and by having him have a nonsensical grudge against Superman, but I was hoping that Snyder would redeem himself with Justice League.

          12. Brione Avatar
            Brionereplying to Brione

Why do you keep bringing up Nolan? I like the Nolan movies, in fact they're my favorite comic book movies, but he changed Batman and his supporting characters way too much too. If I told you my opinion on Leger's Joker there'd be 100 people on here attacking me within minutes. So don't assume that I don't like Snyder because I love Nolan or something like that.

I'm not a fan of the goggles or cowl either, but I never saw anyone say the DCEU isn't it's own universe with it's own differences.

Where did they say it's supposed to be an accurate representation of the main comics universe (which has also gone through tons of drastic changes, mind you)?

The films themselves seem to be evidence of the contrary - and I'm fine with that. The comics have a lot of fat that needs trimmed and things that need to be reworked.

I know man. But the movie should be an accurate representation of the main universe Batman, not elseworlds such as TDKR. We've conversed on here many times, you know that I know more about Batman than 99% of these people. Most of them don't even read comics.

          19. residentgrigo Avatar
            residentgrigoreplying to Brione

Miller´s Batman is the most popular interpretation of the last 3 decades, not even Nolan´s Batman can match him, as he himself came from Year One.
It is impossible to go even 1 month in comics without callback to the 2 80s reboots. He basically "replaced" the 70s / 30s Batman before him. Most of us frankly feel blessed to see him on screen. It´s about time.

In the 1st of 3 movies, yes. There rest of Nolan´s films had less to do with the comics that Burton´s Batman. He at least did his job on his own and didn´t try to retire for 3 films in a row. (Not that i minded.)
Snyder´s Batman has a chance to beat them all very soon though. His interpretations is nearly 1 to 1 and so far flawless.

He's wearing a pair of goggles. Since when does that constitute "changing Batman". He's literally just wearing some goggles.

He looks like Nite-Owl. Snyder did it on purpose because he's Snyder and that's what he does, he changes shit that doesn't need to be changed just so he could say how cool his changes are.

I completely agree with you, but it's useless to complain, Snyder makes movies for himself and that's a fact. If what he thinks is cool match with what the fans think is cool? Perfect! Well, shit!

    2. StarTheory Avatar
      StarTheory

Well the fact that Snyder said that it's the last day filming in that suit only means that the armour plates are going to come off and that it's not a permanent suit. He most likely just needs it for the Parademons and Steppenwolf, can't have another situation where he just stands there and do nothing, *cough* Doomsday *cough*

      1. Rust Avatar
        Rust

Pretty sure he didn't stand there and do nothing - not that he could have done more than he did anyway given the circumstances.

He provided the spear, nailed him with a Kryptonite gas grenade, lured him to the optimal place, kept his attention on him so he wouldn't go and rampage the rest of the world, etc, etc.

        1. StarTheory Avatar
          StarTheory

The spear that he threw away which Lois received, lured him back to the city and that gas grenade would have affected him for like 10 seconds then he would have gotten immune to Kryptonite so if Superman didn't hit him with the spear right after then he wouldn't have died. So he helped but at the same time also fucked up.

    3. Rust Avatar
      Rust

The weird ears really detract for me, too. The taper is too thin, and they slope backward. Very odd and creates an imbalanced, less 'brooding demon' appearance. Definitely more Nite Owl.

The brow and neck of the cowl also hug more tightly now and create a strange head shape, losing the angles and contours that made the BvS and Batman Begins cowls so perfect and intense.

  16. OptimistPrime99 Avatar

Pretty much, but not quite all black. There's still some contrast. Light black, dark grey, or I'm just colorblind. Basically a sleeker and less bulkier armored suit, for him to fight alien creatures in. Instead of hating on the Nite Owl goggles, I'll just remain hopeful that I'll get that "hallelujah scene" from Watchmen, with Batman and Wonder Woman. 😃

Deadpool works because it was done in a very deadpool-ish (cartoonish) way. Characters like Spiderman or Black Panther have a full body suit, so the eyes need to be covered. Batman's cowl always has his chin and mouth showing, so the eyes are better off uncovered. Just because it works in drawing, where the eyes always unrealistically move, it doesn't mean it would be good to have it all the time in live action.

I'd agree with you if not for one thing -- BvS itself proves you wrong because the mech suit looked good with whited out eyes.

I have to be honest. I don't like the look of that suit at all. What happened to the cowl? It resembles the fake-rubber-looking Nite Owl cowl way too much. Somehow, I'm also getting nightmare flashbacks of The Nipple Knight, aka George Clooney from this cowl. I think it's the chin opening that is similar:

I'm not trying anything. Those were just my first impressions. If you know anything about me, it should be that I'm a DC and Batman fan, first and foremost.

0-2 on the Justice League Batsuits for me. The BvS suit was absolute perfection.

So you want him to hide the whole time they're fighting para demons and other worldly creatures? Like he did with Doomsday?

I've slightly changed my mind. I rather like the tactical suit. But his new default suit thats darker and had visible armor plates on it, is a big step in the wrong direction. Elegance and subtlety say a lot more about the advanced state of his crusade. The technology required to make a suit that's armored without being all in your face about it, is what a good batsuit means to me. The arkham series had it right when they had the origins suit visibly armored, asylum and city were the default slick looking suit, and then knight had the most advanced suit because the situation called for it. Two new suits that are both visibly armored like that just doesn't make sense to me. And Batman wasn't hiding, he was using his brain and engaging a superior enemy from a range that wouldn't end in his death. Look at Superman. He could have thrown that spear, or let Wonder Woman throw it, but he decided to go in close quarters like an idiot.

If only the people who made the game's graphics and the comic book artists came anywhere close to capturing how awesome this concept piece is.

Wish I had seen this sooner. Damn. Pretty rad.

I dont like the goggles, I was hoping they would be integrated into the cowl so they give Batman his signature white eyes look, but they are just big goggles over the cowl :/
