'Batman v Superman' deleted scene features Lex Luthor and an alien (video)

If you go to the official website of Lex/OS, you're greeted with a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! The video is hosted on Warner Bros.'s YouTube channel and is titled "Communion".

In the deleted scene, we see Lex Luthor exploring more of the Kryptonian ship. He comes face-to-face with an alien creature that appears to be holding Mother Boxes, a device used to turn Victor Stone into Cyborg and that's been associated with Darkseid. Could this shed some light as to what Luthor was rambling about at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

Also that meta human thesis was another inspiration for kryptonite weapons to combat them. Stolen by batman after everything it took to get it into the country but he implies that by building their own tech he wouldn't have to rely on monsters aka known metahumans under observation such as the suicide squad. Pretty much his original motive before accessing the computer...

I think it would have raised even more questions and even more people would have been upset. We know the comics and know that it's related to Darkseid (Steppenwolf or Yuga Khan?? See even we're not sure) but the general audience and haters would have taken this as even more of a reason to hate this film.

Maybe, they could have fit this in, instead of 30 extra seconds of Bruce slow-motion walking through a field, or any of the excessive-visual-scene setting that took place in the first act. Sadly, it would have done little to answer any questions, and would have just been another comicbook reference that would've went over the majority of the audiences' head.

No one's talking about how that scene is not included in the movie. The scene which was played as our literal first footage from BvS: the SDCC teaser from way back in 2014. Where batman lit up the signal and superman was hovering DEAD CENTRE at the middle of the signal. They changed it and had batman light the signal up and then go to the ground and wait there. Would've looked a lot more epic the other way. But I fucking LOVED the fight.

I don't think I would call it the deleted scene. I'm pretty sure it will be in the ultimate cut and we w'll see more of those soon to extend the story we know from the theatres. Otherwise why release deleted scene so early?

Justice League is going to be completely bonkers. Just imagine the JL heroes fighting characters like Steppenwolf here, that just has to be him, and the parademons. Not to forget Darkseid himself lol. It's going to be insane.

Now, technical wise I hope Snyder is going to raise the bar. By that I mean either shooting the film in 35mm and at least a double amount of IMAX shot footage (BvS had 25 minutes) or even shooting the film in 65mm and IMAX! That would be the best. Although Nolan is already doing that with Dunkirk which shoots almost simultaneously which might bring some logistical problems, but still. Nothing exceeds 65mm and IMAX. But if they do that, or even if they don't, I still hope Snyder will finish the film in 4K, the VFX as well. I know it's hard and takes a long time and most of JL's VFX shots will likely be very complex, but I hope they manage to pull it off. They could add so much detail to the VFX when rendered in 4K. I think it would push the technology forward and even make it a definite lock for an Oscar nom if not win lol. Last time a CBM won an Oscar for Best VFX was Spider-Man 2 right? Anyway, I think the film will age better as well when having a DI of 4K and the VFX rendered in 4K or even higher. I hope they do that because that would simply be amazing

what lex said in the end sounded more like Apokolips, he did say he was hungry and apokolips eats planets right, like he absorbs the energy from the planet and consumes it. then there are also talks that it could e brainiac. darseid is verymuch clear with the omega symbol and all but at this point, it's hard to say

Good god, this Lex fucked up so bad in this movie. At one point, the most powerful person on the planet at his age, leading a multi-billion(trillion?) dollar tech company which is revolutionizing the planet into the new world, to being found by law enforcement, at the bottom of a bloody pool doing monstrous things. Classic Lex.

Still can't decide if this is Yuga Kahn or Steppenwolf. I do know that whoever that New God is, it's says "Lex Luthor" at the 0:05 mark, which means the ship was doing more than teaching Lex it was allowing him to communicate/be indoctrinated.

This scene is essentially how Lex gets arrested before we see him at the end in jail with his hair being shaved off. Not sure they cut this off since it's extremely crucial and explains his motives in the ending scene a bit more. Wtf Warner Bros.

I saw the film yesterday and I've decided today that I'm going to see it again. This may not sound like a big deal, but I never do that. The only other film I saw twice in cinemas was TDKR. Seriously, this film was everything I wanted and then some. It seems Zack makes films for me because I've loved every film I've seen of his. BvS is officially my favourite film ever made. Well done Zack.

Man same here! Honestly exactly the same. The only movie I've ever scene twice in theatres has been TDKR and I'm a huge Batman fan. Once I see a movie I'm usually good until DVD. But within last hour I've decided to see again tonight! This movie is special. A masterpiece in my opinion. The soundtrack really played a big part for me-after listening to "A Beautiful Lie", "Is She With You" and "Men Are a Still Good" again and again I can't wait any longer (does anyone know the name of that electric sounding song in Batman's Fight sequence? It's not on soundtrack!)

It would make sense if this alien is steppenwolf. His place of origin is Apokolips. And would make sense to bring Darkseid to justice league. Maybe has Darkseid simular design like this alien

For anyone having trouble with the Martha name thing, just a though Bruce dons the mask as a promise that what happened to him when he was a child shall never happen again. Although it's unreasonable to believe he can do this everytime he suits up he has this one event as his motivation. Then at the beginning of BVS, a little girl loses her mother! Did you see the expression on his face. He felt helpless. He felt like that little boy who had just lost his parents all over again. So naturally he finds away to overcome loss, and he sees taking superman out as the solution. He even goes off the rails killing some to achieve this goal essentially going against all he believes in. Then he has superman right where he wants him. Ready to commit cold blooded murder he hears the name of the woman that was the whole reason he vowed to become the dark knight. You don't think that would be 'enough' for him to at least stop and say "whoa what the hell am I doing here?" Then he finds out its Clarks mother! He now has to chance to live up to his promise. This night Martha will not die! I found it very powerful and emotional. But that's my opinion!

I thought it was brilliant. There is no Batman without the death of his parents and the psychological damage is so deep that he still has nightmares decades later (BTW that nightmare with the bat coming out of his mothers coffin was amazingly scary) and to hear her name at that moment was probably one of the only thing that stops him. Affleck played it beautifully “Why would you say that name!” It’s also added to Batman’s ruthlessness because symbolically he’s was gonna save the mother he couldn’t when he was a child. I loved it!

Me too dude! Great words! I remember when I was a kid discovering both Bruce and Clark's mom name were Martha and how much it confused me. Snyder and co has taken every bit of detail these fictional Giants and told a phenomenal story! Tears streamed down my face sitting between my own mother and my wife LOL. That scene was soooo powerful! Simple and smart.

Exactly man, exactly! I'm so glad that others actually caught this theme and intricate plot line. It's not spoon-fed to the audience. It's very thematic and metaphorical. You have to analyze each scene and find its meaning in others.
This is exactly Bruce's journey throughout the movie. The loss of his parents (beaten to death, I know, but still the character's main reason for being). Seeing how powerless his dad was while his wife was getting murdered. Living with the failure of allowing his Robin to be murdered. The helplessness and weakness he feels in the midst of the chaos, destruction and Gods descending upon humanity. Alfred's speech, it's all there. Audiences were even privy to it from the trailers. It was explicitly hammered in that Bruce was a broken shell of himself, resorting to "cruel" acts. His stare-down with the costume. What a powerful moment, highlighting the utter struggle between the man and the monster he is becoming.
And in the conclusion of the movie, he's a man truly reborn. The old Bruce and Batman making surface again.
It's unbelievable so many didn't catch the story arc. How could it have passed over their heads is beyond me.
After two viewings, I stand by my point that it's truly an epic masterpiece. I couldn't be more thrilled with the movie.

That is seriously a major scene, that should have stayed in the theatrical cut... Very creepy though.

It really ties things nicely together.
My take is that he is in a trance-like state. He seems to wake up. This reminds me of the dreams, Kal-EL and Louis were subdued into - on the Kryptonian ship in MOS. It is highely likely the future to him is seen, as he gets corrupted by Darkseid.... He reacts more shaken though, so maybe he is in dread, knowing that he is powerless (kinda major bulletpoint in BvS) against what's to come. And in realizing so, he must prepare, should he have any interest in future power!

This is amazing because it indicates that the hype lives on long after the release of Batman v Superman. This is only the beginning. We now live in a world in which we will be getting, at regular intervals every year, another DC film that connects to one that we've seen and have yet to see. BvS got me so hyped because I realized that every single part of that narrative has implications down the line. I'm particularly excited (SPOILERS... IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN, DON'T READ ANY FURTHER) to see the Flash in a movie down the line traveling back (too far, apparently) to send his message to Bruce. Things like that are going to be mind-blowing. They're playing with the complicated, very technical and scientific chronology (which is really made more complex by the Flash) so beautifully. It's incredibly ambitious, and it's so clearly catering to us, the fans. So much of this movie is fan service, even the small moments -- like Alfred's reference that the White Portuguese could be a "phantasm." I just couldn't be happier.

I think it was Lex getting information from the kyptonian ship about about Darkseid,cuz it looked the the things the tentacles were made up of from Man Of Steel. As far as who that is I don't know but I doubt it's Darkseid, Synder usually has pretty close visual interpretation of what the charters look like to their comic book counter part. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman look like they step right off the pages, so do all his Wacthmen, except one. Doomsay didn't quite look the same but he'll be back stronger, so he'll probably have his horns and bones then. And I have a feeling Darkseid presents with be felt in JLA 1 but not seen til JLA 2. That's just my take.
