Amber Heard confirms she's Mera in 'Justice League' and teases her costume (video)

In January it was reported that Amber Heard was in talks to play Mera in Justice League: Part One, and the rumors were true! The actress confirmed the news while speaking to ET about her new movie The Adderall Diaries.

Heard also teased her costume. "It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales," she revealed. "It's strange... We're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."

Justice League: Part One is scheduled to hit theaters November 17, 2017. It begins shooting next month. Heard will also star in Aquaman alongside Jason Momoa in 2018.

I wonder if she will be in any action scenes in JL or just have a role similar to Pepper in the first Avengers or Maria Hill in Age of Ultron. maybe she will have only a few small scenes based in Atlantis in JL and then have a more major role in Aquaman. Kind of what they do with Aquaman in BvS.

I'd definitely lean towards DC just putting her out there as a bit of an introduction to her character in JL part one. Since DC Films are apparently not going with origin stories (Wonder Woman excluded), it makes sense to get the casual movie goer exposed to this character in preparation for the solo Awuaman movie. However, if the reports are wrong and DC does intend to do origin stories, I am curious as to how she fits into the JL movie.

  They can introduce her in JL, and they can tell Arthur & Mera's orgin in the solo Aquaman movie if the want.

I can bet she will be in action sequences. Mera is a badass. Zack knows that, and there's no way he'll reduce her to a small role with only dialogues.

So many good thing came out today... The more i hear about JL the more i think the part 1 won't be about darkseid. I think it will be throne of atlantis. Darkseid would probably be part 2 they defeat him and he can return in JL part 4 or 5 for DARKSEID WAR or something like that

why does everyone assume that they will just adapt storylines from the comics instead of creating an original and new storyline? They already adapt the comic stories for the animated films, doing that again for the live action films would be boring and redundant. And neither MoS, nor BvS, WW or SS so far have been adaptations of any particular comic book story so why would they do that with JL ? They need to do something new.

  I mean, that's not completely true. Man of Steel has different Superman stories peppered into it. Dawn of Justice also pulls from different Batman/Superman stories, the biggest example being "The Dark Knight Returns". It could be that Justice League will continue the pattern by pulling parts of existing JL stories to form a new original story

  To answer your question, 1) DC has had some kick-ass crossovers in recent years (Flashpoint, Throne of Atlantis, Forever Evil, Darkseid War, etc.) 2) to say "they're already adapting for animated films" is like saying the animated universe and film universe are one and the same (which they are totally not) - live-action films reach a much bigger audience and therefore carry more weight, and most importantly, 3) a DC film can take plot references without copying a storyline outright, which has been done so far with MoS, BvS, and likely whatever overarching saga DC will be extending throughout JL. Bottom line, without comics, there would be no films.

  If BvS is any indication, I don't think they plan on doing any direct adaptations. Just barrow some elements and craft a new story from them
