Amber Heard in talks to play Mera in 'Aquaman' and 'Justice League'

on Amber Heard in talks to play Mera in 'Aquaman' and 'Justice League'

Amber Heard is in talks to star with Jason Momoa in Aquaman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She's up for the role of Mera, the love interest of Aquaman and eventual queen of Atlantis.

Mera will make her first appearance in Justice League Part 1, before starring in Aquaman in 2018. The beautiful blonde actress will probably be dying her hair red if she lands the role.

Justice League Part 1 begins shooting in April and will be directed by Zack Snyder. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, 2017

    That is a surprising choice! The fact of Mera been played by a caucasian make me ask if racial issues, what were present in some eras of Aquaman history, will play out as well on film. Aqualad as banish because his purple eyes, as Arthur almost died as a child because the curse around his blond hair. Would be very interesting if happen.

      I hope they will include that aspect to the Aquaman story. They could turn it around and make Polynesians the surface dwellers with ties to Atlanteans and Atlanteans the true underwater blonde-blue-eyed nation.

    I'd be ok with that. Now that I think about it though, and the fact that she already has red hair may be influencing it quite a bit, but I think Jessica Chastain could be a pretty bad ass Mera.

    Edit: Well, a quick google search shows that the internet would agree.

    I thought she would be more suitable as Black Canary. But if she does end up as Mera, I'll be okay with that.

    Definitely would be happier if it was a better actress, but she does look the part (not very difficult) and she is very young. I know Jessica Chastain is kinda old to be starting a franchise (she'll be 40 by the time Aquaman rolls out), but she's a damn fine actress, and also looks the part. We'll see. Wonder what storyline will be used for Justice League Part 1, though, if Mera is going to be involved.

    I'm in!!! She's very very beautiful and I've had a huge crush on her. I had Black Canary in mind for her, but
    Mera is really good. Loved her in The Rum Diary.

    Let's hope she can convince Johnny Depp to join the DCEU as well.

        I don't know about Vish, but the character that comes directly to my mind is the Phantom Stranger. Imagine Depp being given instructions like "He could be a fallen angel, he could be the Wandering Jew. You make the call."

        Yeah Phantom Stranger is a good call, he would be a fantastic Dream as well. Other roles I have in mind are Dr. Amadeus Arkham, Black Mask, Riddler, Abra Kadabra and Hugo Strange etc.

    That is cool, I like it a lot. DC unfortunately aren't getting actors as big as marvel, but they are also casting very good talents! I like Amber heard, very beautiful!

      Besides these real "big actors" usually have in MCU movies, 5-10 minutes of screen time and are wasted...

      You know.. Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) is a well-known name, but it's not "DiCaprio / Pitt" level of popularity. His acting talent also raises my doubts.

        first of all, why are you so defensive about DC? I did not say anything bad about DC. Stop acting like a fanboy. I love DcU, I am DcU fanboy but I don't like it cause there is no reason to. I am a bigger comic fanboy than I am DcU fanboy.

        2nd why are you bashing McU? I get it, you like DC more but you dont need to bash on McU to profess your love for DC. McU has done amazing heralding the era of Superhero. If it werent for McU, DcU might not even exist.

        3rd - If you read my post, I said BIG actors and Very Good Talents. There is a reason why I separated them because they are not the same thing. The Rock is a big name, you can go around everywhere and ask if they know the rock and they will probably see they do. He is a big name. Erza Miller, the guy playing the rock, is not a big name. I can go around everywhere and ask people if they know who erza miller is and they probably would have not a single idea who he is. Guess what, he is super talented, if you see all his films, especially the independent ones, you will be amazed how talented he is but he isnt a big name. Jason Momoa, I know who he is because of Games of thrones. Do you think the casual people know who Jason Momoa is? of course not, majority of people would not know who he is.

        Benedict Cumberbatch is a very well know name. Of course very few people are in the mantle of Dicaprio, but is Dicaprio in any superhero universe? No, Is brad pitt in it? No.

        Guess what, Marvel has Cate Blanchett is in Thor 3. Arguably the best female actor living today, possibly only 2nd to meryl streep. She is a perennial oscar contender. She is twice an oscar winner. She is A big Name, People know who she is. Do people know who Gal Gadot is? No one knows who gal gadot is until she got the role of wonder woman.

        and to finish i am not bashing towards any of the dc actors, I am super excited for them, I defend them to all the marvel super fanboy at my work all the time, but you cant deny that they are not big names.

      Ben Affleck, Cavill, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Jesse Eisenberg are all names as big if not bigger than most of the actors in the MCU, and that's just from the first 2 movies lol.

            Its not a made up arguement, Laurence Fishburn is not a popular name. Not over someone like Samuel Jackson or chiwetel ejiofor. That is what I am trying to say. Marvel has been getting Big names along with talented small names. DC has big names too, but not as much as marvel. They do have alot of small names that are very talented which I love. You guys are the one who got super defensive throwing out names without thinking about it. Names like Laurence Fishburne and Holly hunter are popular to people that are film fanaticsl ike us, but not to the majority of movie watchers.

            I watch enough films. its my my career. I also work in a movie theater. That is the issue, I know who they are. You know who they are. Its because you watch film. The people who actually watches film the way you and I are few. People who watch film castually are alot. They are not popular actors. There is very little to know articles. interview or talks surrounding them.

          You know if they do get Jessica Chastain for Aquaman, or Mathew mcconaughey for Green Arrow. It would definitely elevate them in terms of bringing in big and Talented names. Rebecca Ferguson for black canary, Michael B jordan for someone like the red hood, Denzel Washington for John Stuart, Bradley Cooper for the Green Lantern,. I really wanted Idris Alba as Martian Manhunter to name a few.

I can give you Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, The rock, Will smith, Jared Leto and Margo Robbie. Cavil is not a big name, If i go around and ask people if they know Robert downey Jr. they guaranteed will, If I ask them if they know Henry Cavil there is a higher chance that they dont. Ben affleck i can give you because I follow him. But you have no idea how many people hated his casting, who still hates him and thinks he is bad. if you want me to throw names at you I will and will tell you perhaps the biggest names in hollywood

        Those are what I can say who are big names, that if you mention to people right now they would know who they are. BIg household names who can bring fans in just by names alone, those are big names.

        Not talking shit to DC, I love DC, I am excited for Batfleck, I cant wait for Gal gadot to prove everyone wrong, I am one of the few people who like Jesse Eisenberg in the trailer. We are part of the minority who would know who Jeremy Irons is, that he was Scar from Lion king. I want to finally see A badass Aquaman like he is in the comics. The rock in Shazam>? FUCK YEAH, I will see anything with the rock but im being straight here, DC has actors that not that big of a name, in which i say is fine.

          Neither were Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Chris Evans, or Tom Hiddleston before they came to the MCU. I hardly think they are big names outside of the comic universe with the exception of Hiddleston if you wanna watch Shakespeare.

      Gal has never had a starring role in any movie. So, a lot of the complaint from fans has been that she's always been a side character; how is she going to helm a franchise character like WW? And the few roles that she has been in are not roles that would call the need to show a range in her ability. In fact, much of her roles were to be eye candy... and eye candy alone.

      Amber Heard HAS had starring roles and a number of opportunities to show her acting range. Most of which were non impressive. I hear her most recent performance in the danish girl (i believe) was good... but since I have yet to see that, I can't comment on that.

      BUT, considering I've seen her in a number of projects to date... LOGIC would dictate my perception of her casting, and since nothing I'VE seen so far would suggest otherwise. I'm sure someone of your aptitude could appreciate that.

    I think Amber Heard will do a great job. Right age, has the looks and maybe her working along side someone as good as Jason Momoa would bring the best out of her. Jessica Chastain would also be a good choice but is maybe not ready to commit to several movies due to her age.

    Am very excited for DC's future.

    Wouldn't have been my guess for a good choice for the character, but I thought the same of Jesse Eisenberg initially. I'd hoped they would have went with someone that closer matched Mamoa's ethnicity, with a more exotic look, but she is pretty. Just in a more plain, caucasian sort of way. This doesn't mean she has the part yet though.
