2015 was all about marketing. We got to see the first footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and even Suicide Squad. Before we get ready for even more marketing next year, let’s take a look back at the biggest stories of 2015. Below is a list of the most popular articles that I've published on Batman News, based on web traffic.

  1. Warner Bros. gives permission for R-rated 'Batman: The Killing Joke' movie
    • I was surprised to learn that the biggest story on Batman News wasn't about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Suicide Squad. It was the fact that at NYCC Comic-Con, producer James Tucker stated that Warner Bros. gave them permission to make the upcoming animated movie The Killing Joke rated R! This story hit the front page of reddit, which is why it got so much traffic.
  2. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' teaser trailer officially online in HD
    • After leaking from a theater in Latin America, the very first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was officially released online. It gave fans their first look at Ben Affleck's Batman in action, and delivered a line that's sure to be a classic. "Tell me, do you bleed? You will!"
  3. 'Suicide Squad' Comic-Con trailer officially released online in HD
    • After leaking out of Hall H at Comic-Con, Warner Bros. decided to officially release the Suicide Squad trailer online. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Jared Leto's Joker stole the show, and this trailer was actually viewed more times on Warner Bros.'s YouTube channel than the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer that they released just a few days prior.
  4. New 'Suicide Squad' set photos reveal Jared Leto's Joker and his tattoos
    • In late April we got our first look at Jared Leto's Joker, which revealed that he'd be sporting a lot of tattoos, even on his face. In mid-May we got another look at Leto's Joker, this time from set photos from the streets of Toronto. Fans were able to get a better look at his tattoos, plus one of the many suits that he'll be wearing in the movie.
  5. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer #3 reveals Doomsday
    • After a big build up, the third trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released online. The big reveal here was that Doomsday was in the movie. This trailer wasn't as dark as the other two, but set the stage for what fans can expect to see on March 25, 2016.

2016 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in DC Comics movie history! We're getting not one, but two Batman movies, plus the very first Justice League movie will be filmed!       No, the only official confirmation about The Killing Joke is that it's coming in 2016. Nothing else has been announced.

          I think he said that he would return to voice The Joker if there was ever a Killing Joke animated film and encouraged fans to petition for one to be made so he will most likely be in it.

    So, how about that supposed early review of BVS? If it's true, it's supposedly amazing (duh). I didn't bother to read the entire thing just in case it's true and to avoid spoilers, but one big part I took from it was when he says "the trailer revealed nothing." I've said this since the trailer launched. There's no way Snyder would give the plot away in a trailer. Soooo tempted to read the supposed spoilers....must....resist.

        I have never seen any of the Harry Potter films! And yes, 2016 is going to be spectacular, however what I meant to say was that DC will finally be present. I did not mean to say that the other movies were irrelevant. I love how Gareth Edwards directs, I can't wait for Rogue One.

          Doesn´t really matter what movies you have seen or wether or not you are gonna see any of the ones I mentioned. But a Harry Potter prequel by definition will be a major movie. Not talking about taste and preferences just commercial success.

            well no offense but 95 % not knowing who one of the biggest Batman writers of the last 10 years is is extremely pitiful.

            I mean really? 95 % of all people here don´t know THE Batman writer no.1 right now? I am actually quite shocked by this if that is indeed true. If someone is a true Batman fan he at least knows the history of that character and the biggest names behind that history. Next thing you´re gonna tell me is that most people here don´t even care who Bill Finger was.

            There's no hierarchy of being a fan. Different people like the same things in different ways, so saying a "true" fan does this or that won't do anything but start arguments. Let people enjoy it, share your knowledge respectfully, and learn in return. That's what being a fan is about: not laughing or being aghast when someone doesn't know something, but sharing in the love of the character.

    Congrats and thanks to WB and DC for all the hard work they've put in to finally creating a universe for their fans to enjoy and to call their own. We finally are going to have what WE want when we go to theaters to watch a comic book movie.

    Congrats to Batman News for yet another year of OUTSTANDING reporting and news articles to keep us in the know about the DCEU.

    And finally, thanks to all of you who post here that have a positive and excited attitude about what's to come. It's no secret that BvS and the DCEU has taken shots from non believers over the last two + years. Pat yourselves on the back for staying the course, not allowing others to tell you what is good and how film universes should be created, and for having the open mindedness to accept a new direction in the genre.

    2016 is gonna be a hell of a ride and I'm thankful to be part of a passionate fanbase who deserves and expects nothing but greatness from these filmmakers and actors/actresses who are no doubt going to deliver big time.

    The top 5 list wasn't my opinion, just cold hard facts. This list is based on which articles got the most traffic on Batman News in 2015. Killing Joke is #1 because it was shared on Reddit and hit the front page. That sent a CRAZY amount of traffic to Batman News.

    well technically you get no Batman movies in 2016 but only movies that feature Batman among others ;) Doesn´t make it any less awesome though. But please lets not forget that Batman shares 2016 with many other iconic DC heroes in the spotlight ;) The year belongs just as much to Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Deadshot or Joker :)
