Zack Snyder shares his excitement for 'Star Wars' with new 'Batman v Superman' mashup videos

The world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is underway in Los Angeles right now, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder took to Twitter to share his excitement with some new video mashups.

The mashups between Star Wars and Batman v Superman started back in the summer of 2014, when longtime friends J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder were both shooting their upcoming blockbusters. We got to see Henry Cavill's Superman dressed as a Sith, C-3PO as Batman, a Stormtrooper getting arrested by the GCPD, and the Millennium Falcon and the Batmobile.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens this Friday, December 18th.

The one with Vader is the best. Just priceless. I have been a die hard Star Wars fan since 1996, its my most favorite movie saga of all time. And I still can´t believe that tonight is the world premiere of Episode VII. For so long Episode VII was nothing but a far away dream for us fans and now that movie is actually here. Today movie history was already made. What a moment.

I just love all the positivity here on Batman-News ! I have been a regular on another site but it has been infested by Marvel trolls recently and the comment section is just hate for Man of Steel and Zack Snyder. But I love the enthusiasm here.

    Star Wars is the greatest movie phenomenon of all time. And having an Episode VII with all the old actors from the first trilogy was nothing more then a fans dream for so many decades. And now this is happening. Episode VII is actually happening. This is so much bigger then any superheromovie could ever hope to be. This is movie history on a whole different level. This is a once in a lifetime miracle.
    I have been loving superheroes all my life and I can´t wait for the new films next year but nothing in this universe will ever come close to the level of Star Wars in entertainment media.

      All of which is entirely your opinion. For example, saying that it's "movie history on another level" is your opinion. I personally think seeing superman, batman and Wonder Woman on the big screen for the first time is movie history on another level. I've already seen Star Wars, regardless of how huge it is.. I've seen it. Sure, it's big because we got the same actors and a new trilogy but I've seen Star Wars on the big screen. This is the first time the trinity is on screen.
      Also, you're correct. It's a cinematic phenomenon and bigger than comic book movies. However, you forget one thing.. Star Wars wasn't even at the diaper stage in George Lucas' mind when superman, batman and Wonder Woman were already cultural phenomenons. I mean for gods sake, superman's symbol is the second most recognized symbol right behind the Christian cross.
      So even though I'm looking forward to Star Wars and I already have my tickets.. It's not even close for me. I'll take batman v superman any day of the week. It's all subjective though.

      I never said that the phenomenon of Star Wars is older then any superheroes. I am just saying its bigger. Do you honestly believe that BvS or any superherofilm could ever have the same impact, cultural significance and change the way we perceive cinema as a whole as the original Star Wars did in 1977 ? Nothing will ever replicate that. You could argue that without Star Wars there would not even be any superheromovies and thus no BvS. Star Wars paved the way for everything that we are seeing today in the scifi/fantasy genre. In 40 years nobody is gonna look back on movies like Avengers or BvS the way we are looking back at Star Wars today. Star Wars also paved the way for Donners Superman and thus the entire superhero genre.
      Comparing BvS to Star Wars is like comparing neanderthals with modern day mankind.

      We are not talking about the originals now are we? Also, you sure are throwing a lot of theories out there, none of which are hard facts. For example, donner didn't pave way to modern superhero movies. Batman and robin and superman 4 effectively killed the superhero genre. X men and Spider-Man brought it back while Nolan revolutionized it with the "grounded" approach.
      Knowing whether this would have happened or not thanks to Star Wars is all conjecture and not a fact. You can say it did and someone else can say it didn't. For the sake of argument though, let's just say you are correct.
      Regardless though, no one was doubting the cinematic history that was established by Star Wars. Why don't you read carefully? I have no doubt that the cinematic impact that the first Star Wars movie had was bigger and will be bigger than any superhero movie ever will be. But again, we are NOT talking about the first Star Wars.
      So stay on topic, we are talking about the cinematic history that will be brought by episode 7 and bvs and which we anticipate more. Some of us look forward to bvs a lot more and some Star Wars. Neither opinion is wrong. However, Star Wars is just continuing a franchise, nothing new. Bvs will mark the debut of the trinity on the big screen and that's cinematic history, not bigger than what the first Star Wars film did, but a lot more than whatever episode 7 is doing.
      Either way, no one was trashing Star Wars, some of us are just more pumped for bvs. So as the younger folks say now a days.. Take a chill pill bro.

      Again, that's nice. I was mostly asking a rhetorical question to show my enthusiasm for Batman on a Batman specific fan-site. I totally get the power and prominence of Star Wars. Personally, I grew up more interested in the Justice League than in the Star Wars universe so it's a personal thing. I fully expect Star Wars to shatter box office records. My own personal opinion on the matter doesn't really account for anything. Like I said, I already have advanced tickets to see the movie twice. I'm still more excited for BvS though. (Heck, I was more excited for Fury Road than I am for FA. I'm more excited for the new Terrence Malick movie than I am for FA).
      Also, I lived through the prequels, so I've heard the "movie history on a whole different level" and "once in a lifetime miracle" arguments before. Now, Fury Road... that's movie history on a whole different level and a once in a lifetime miracle of cinema. :)
      48 hours til I see Force Awakens. I'm keeping my expectations manageable, but if I walk out of the theater knowing I just witnessed a miracle, I will be very happy.

      I saw Force Awakens last night. That's no miracle. Wasted opportunity? Maybe. A once in a lifetime miracle? Definitely not. Movie history on a whole different level? Well, if you consider box office and marketing to be an important part of movie history, than sure.

I'm seeing Force Awakens in theaters at least twice (once with friends on opening night, once with my dad over the holidays). I'm looking forward to it, but BvS just feels more 'fresh' and 'special' to me, probably because of my history and nostalgia.

Seriously though, Force Awakens is going to make a lot of money, it's getting solid reviews, the fans seem very happy... and yet here you are seemingly upset that a small subset of people are more excited for BvS than Force Awakens (even though we are still excited for Force Awakens). Get a grip.

  I thought the SW prequels were a mess. I think it's risky to cast an unknown actress as the lead female of SW. I'm still looking forward to Force Awakens anyways. That doesn't mean I'm blinded by whatever pandering nostalgia Disney is willing to throw my way. It just means I have the capacity for joy and also the ability to put pop culture in context. Oh, also critical thinking and independent thought.

    I don't think BvS will be remembered like the greatest movies in history. I also don't believe that about Force Awakens.
    For sake of comparison, I do think movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and Dark Knight will earn those distinctions.
    I liked Superman Returns as well. It was a nice homage to the originals, kind of like what Abrams seems to be doing with Force Awakens. MoS was something different, which I appreciated. Also, MoS was better than half of the Star Wars movies I've seen so far. Not that that means anything in particular. I'm just saying you might want to be careful about making those sort of direct comparisons.
    I'm sorry you have so much anger or whatever it is. That can't be pleasant to live with.

      You're the one that seems to have your panties in a bunch because someone has an opinion that you don't agree with. I'm defending my factual statement that I'm more excited to see BvS than Force Awakens (even though I'm still plenty of excited for Force Awakens). You're the one here that seems to have a problem with that. If you can't take it, you don't have to be here. I'm a huge DC fan. I grew up with these characters. I can't wait to see them all in one cinematic universe, especially one with such an impressive and eclectic group of artists working in front of and behind the cameras. I don't know why this bothers you so much. I respect people that are more excited to see Star Wars than other movies. That doesn't mean they are brainwashed by Disney marketing or nostalgia or whatever. It just means they have a different opinion and perspective, likely shaped by their own personal experiences and preferences.
