A man who claimed to be Zack Snyder called into Detroit radio station 97.1 The Ticket this morning after he heard the hosts talking about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and making fun of Aquaman.

The station revealed that the caller dialed in from a cell phone with a Los Angeles area code, and you know what? It sounds exactly like Zack Snyder! Listen below as Snyder defends Aquaman, talks about his "cool abilities", and how his trident could "cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact".

Aquaman will be played by Jason Momoa in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, though Warner Bros. still hasn't officially announced the news.

Update: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cinematographer Larry Fong just shared this story on Twitter and /Film writer Germain Lussier has confirmed with multiple sources that it was Snyder on the phone:

    YOU TELL EM'!!!!!!! Zack. I always thought Aquaman was cool. The character just needs a visionary like Zack Snyder, to bring him to life. A "simple" badass scene, with Aquaman rising out of the ocean, on a gigantic Loch Ness Monster, while commanding an enormous army of Krakens!! Would end all of the disrespect, for the character.

    Good on him if it was Synder ... I don't mean this in a Marvel VS DC context (can't bare any o' that pussy generic 'my dad's bigger than your dad' shit) but it is. Nice to hear someone from inside vocally being passionate about it, just as Wheddon & Feige have been over the years.

    Theoretically Aquaman is a massive figure, the past decade of comic book continuity have served him well. Also anyone who laid their hands on the Injustice video game will know how much of a motherf**ker he was. So much potential with his abilities and his environment (i.e. Ocean-pollution etc). I'm actually amazed (and this ain't a dig) how. Marvel don't seem to have Namor in the pipeline. Such a cult figure.

    Anyway ... Go Synder!!

    How much sense does it make that Jason Mamoa is playing Aquaman. When it hasn't been officially announce. I'm just not getting that. I'm seriously hoping Zach just says it's not him it's this guy.

    I don't understand why critics hate Zack Snyder. He's fucking awesome and makes great comic book adaptions that are amazing but critics bitch on it for stupid reasons. A critic said the music in Man of Steel was too good. TOO GOOD. You know how retarded that is? They also say there was no characterization. I guess they missed the first half of the film. Also they said "Watchmen was too bloody" (no shit Sherlock) and Zack was a "slave to the comics" for making a comic book adaption. They hated 300 but idk why

      Now now now...let's not get it all in a bunch. In many ways those criticism are right. Zimmer's music was great, the movie did not live up to it's level. Not exactly what the critic said, but maybe that was his/her point. And there WASN'T enough characterization in MOS. I would have given a more than few minutes of fancy action if certain parts would have been dealt with in more depth.

      And really, in the end we need a movie that everyone loves..the geeks, the critics and everyone in between.

    I find it interesting that Zack Snyder said it was cannon that aquaman's trident can cut superman's skin, maybe to fight superman batman will work with aquaman or use aquaman's trident instead of using kryptonite, if done right that could be a really cool new way for batman (if he does) to beat superman
