'Batman: Arkham Knight' is coming in January, according to Kevin Conroy (video)

Earlier this month we learned that Batman: Arkham Knight wasn't going to hit its October 2014 release date and was delayed until 2015. No specific timeline was given, other than being pushed to next year. In a new interview from last weekend's Denver Comic-Con, the voice of Batman Kevin Conroy revealed that Batman: Arkham Knight will be out in January 2015.

"I have a massive game you may have heard of called Arkham Knight," Conroy said, speaking to Groovey.TV. "It was supposed to come out in January, we've been working on it for a year and a half, it's still not done. So it's going to come out next January, but I know everyone is frustrated. The reason it's been delayed is because it's so awesome."

We should still wait for an official announcement from Rocksteady or Warner Bros. before we get too excited, but Kevin Conroy has been known to let things slip up in the past.

Batman Arkham Knight was supposed to come out January 2014. A lot of good games are trying to release games before the start of the school year. So people don't have to choose between school supplies and games.

I know I got in trouble for saying this before, but... I don't think he knows what he's talking about.

Exhibit A - Anybody obsessed with video games like I am knows that the post Christmas season is a ghost town. They rarely put out major releases in January. They tried it last year with DmC and the game bombed. Look at this past January and the only two games released were one of those awful Dragon Ball Z shovelware games and the re-release of Tomb Raider. Releases don't pick up until February and the major games don't kick up until closer to Spring and Summer when kids are out of school.

Exhibit B - He also says it was going to come out last January. Yet they didn't even announce the game until months after that. Plus Origin had just been released the previous October and they were still pushing that game. There is no way they would've ever considered putting Knight out only 3 months after Origins. A lot of people would've said "if Rocksteady's game is coming out too, why would I bother with this other game?" They would've been competing against themselves, cannibalizing their own fanbase and causing needless confusion by having two different Arkham games being marketed at the same time.

Of course this doesn't mean it won't come out in January, but it does mean I will eat my hat if it does.

I completely agree with your Exhibit A.
Exhibit B - "they were still pushing that game" No they weren't. They don't care about Origins because they didn't make it. In fact in nearly all their interviews (even recent ones), they call it the "Arkham trilogy" leaving Origins non-canon. This somewhat changed when Sefton Hill had to be nice and come out saying Orgins is part of the family because they gave WB Montreal their code at the will of WB Interactive because of long development time (which somewhat proves your Exhibit B). Exactly! people wouldn't "bother with this other game" because Rocksteady's game would be far superior (without seeing any trailer or gameplay) they have proven themselves. Rocksteady would be completing against Montreal and win simply because of Origins' weaker Batman experience.
Like I said, you make a valid point on Batman's voice leaking a somewhat unlikely release date. The only thing I can say is that they might want to end the Batman year by releasing this game.

      Yes, but I didn't mean Rocksteady cared about Origins. But WB certainly does and they are the ones who decide release dates and marketing.

Yeah it would! I've always been disappointed that we never got any movie Batsuit DLC. Injustice: Gods Among Us got a Man of Steel Superman suit!

  The first thing I would probably do is shed a tear and then play Hans Zimmer's track "Antrozous" in the background while using all the skins to recreate Batman Begins' gliding scene.

      Yeah they did. However it would of been a hundred times better if the Adam West skin actually looked like him. If the skin was not bulky and actually had West's face instead of Origins. They have the tech... They could of done it.

  I wish we'd just get an entire Batman vs Superman tie in game. I think it sucks we didn't get a Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel tie in game. It seems these days they'd rather just make crappy phone game tie ins. I'd rather have a crappy console game. After I come home from the theater all jacked up on excitement I want to extend the experience. And because they don't make tie in games anymore it leaves me with no choice but to come here and argue with people.

      I did too. It was easily the best Batman game up until Arkham came out. And a breath of fresh air after the tripe that was Batman: Dark Tomorrow.

I don't watch Arrow on CW, however Stephen Amell said through Facebook he's "voicing Green Arrow for a popular video game franchise tomorrow."

It's possible that he's voicing Green Arrow for Batman: Arkham Knight!

I can't even pay attention to the BvS part. All I see is all that Beware the Batman stuff. This is from the Licensing Expo in Vegas. After defacto cancelling Beware the Batman then throwing it on at 3am, why would they have all that stuff at a licensing expo? Who wants to make kids meal toys out of a show on in the middle of the night? That's weird.

I've seen two different release dates rumored today. Feb 24th and March 26th. But both those dates have other high profile games coming out so I don't buy either one of them. But everything sure is pointing towards early in the year.
