Warner Bros. hires Drew Crevello, former FOX executive who helped re-launch 'X-Men' franchise

Warner Bros. just added a major player to their team. Drew Crevello, who helped re-launch FOX’s X-Men franchise with X-Men: First Class, has been named senior VP of production at Warner Bros. Crevello will oversee films through every stage of development and production.

"Drew has a long history of developing and guiding character-driven films of every genre, which makes him a great fit for our team," said Warner Bros. production president Greg Silverman. "He’s strategic, exceptionally bright and knows firsthand the challenges and rewards of the creative process."

Deadline is a trade publication that's read by many people in Hollywood, and there's nothing but praise for Drew Crevello in the comments section of their article. Here's one comment from "C.C. Baxter":

This is a huge score for WB. Drew has long been one of the best executives in town. One of the only people who truly understands production and how to work with the talent. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of comic books and will fit right into the WB tentpole universe. This is good for everyone!

Having a VP of production at Warner Bros. with a knowledge of comic book characters will be huge as the company gets ready to launch an extended Justice League universe.

    obviously, considering that unlike WB, Marvel is limited to comicbook movies, that's their trade. the point is that WB is hiring Crevello because of his involvement with the xmen franchise relaunch, which is a success and given his "encyclopedic kwnowledge" of comic book characters one can see where this is going. good move actually, having a great talent overseeing your next top comicbook projects. this is looking good for WB.

      Well lets wait for a more official source then the comment section of deadline before we start proclaiming he has an "encyclopedic knowledge" of comics. The other movie he had a big hand in at Fox was Knight and Day. Which was not a very good movie.

        Jumping to conclusions is strong with this story. WB hired a new VP who has a small connection to one comic book movie and suddenly, based on the comment of one anonymous person, he's been turned into a comic book genius who is going to run DC's movie division single handedly and make it the greatest thing ever.
        I also comment on Deadline stories. I don't know shit. Hellooooo??

    Nolan is WB's Josh Whedon, making a franchise reach a billion.
    Another person that could be considered WB's Feige (If he EVER received that kind of power) is Geoff Johns...

      My point is that he was due to receive that power, going by what people said online since he did the Batman series. It's obvious WB were taking his vision and running with it when they restarted Superman.

        Seems like it was supposed to be the other way around, since the tale goes that Zod's death was Goyer's (or was it Snyder's) idea, but ultimately went through Nolan for approval. Which would indicate that Nolan indeed was to be the head producer for DC films, at least initially before they decided they had to make their own interconnected universe.

        I agree that there are better writers like Nolan Bros. and Chris Terrio.
        Geoff has a small role as executive producer. I would put faith in him if he had more power because that's the point "HE WROTE COMIC BOOKS FOR HIS WHOLE LIFE." Why not have a guy who writes good COMIC BOOKS help launch a COMIC BOOK movie?
        I'm putting my faith in Oscar Winner Chris Terrio since there a chance a comic book movie could win an Oscar for best story. It would be AMAZING!

  That's slightly wrong information. It's been reported (not confirmed) that Shazam and Metal Men are not connected to the Justice League movies. They COULD still exist in the same universe as Snyder's Justice League. Again, they are still in development and it's not confirmed.

    I couldn't agree more! Amell is so wooden he would make a tree look like a good actor. Plus as much as I like Arrow as a fun action/comic show it is basically a TDK films rip off with a bow and arrow, I even remember watching a interview with the creators saying that they were influenced heavily by those films and it shows in their story lines, particularly the characters.

Ever since I watched X-men:DOFP..I thought it was a just amazingly smart and something ingenious to bring in the "First Class" movie after X3..I mean it wasn't a reboot but a prequel.
And now they made a movie using the both timelines and will make X-Men:Apocalypse using the "First Class" cast. Its just a stroke of genius, Instead of rebooting the whole franchise and a whole new cast, They went for this. Its pretty amazing really, I hope something of this order happens with the JL franchise coming up

  He was VP of production at FOX. He was a major player in the re-launch of the X-Men franchise. Most of the people who commented on the Deadline article are people who have worked with him before. Warner Bros. put out a press release announcing the news.

    Well the one you quoted "C.C. Baxter" is Jack Lemons character from The Apartment. So we don't know who he is. As far as i can tell the major players in relaunching X-men were Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner. Lets not act like he is the new Kevin Feige. Lets get fact and not message board postings.

      And First Class was by far the least successful X-Men movie. There's a reason why they brought Singer and the original cast back. The reboot was a failure. DoFP has made more in 2 weeks than First Class did in it's entire run. So why are we acting like this guy is the bee's knees?

        Depends on how you measure success. Most think that First Class is now the second best X-Men movie. You know why they brought Singer back? It's only because Matthew Vaughn was busy. They actually wanted Vaughn to direct DoFP first. Vaughn wrote most of DoFP plus he's the one who cast James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence. You're a fool if you think it was all Singer.

        Some people may have liked it but that doesn't mean it didn't drop the ball from what the previous movies brought in. Vaughn is a great director but Singer directing X-Men again was headline news. I'd bet Vaughn was "too busy" to make that movie just like Ryan Reynolds will be "too busy" to be in Justice League.

And to be really honest, Quicksilver was one of the promising parts of X-men:DOFP..I don't know why DC didn't go for a spinoff for Flash, Look how Quicksilver worked with the audience! He's just Marvel's Flash -_-

    Probably allot since I really don't like then portrail of the X-men team in the movie, that's why I liked first class. Because I hated Scott/Jean/ect. . . . they were all written bad and the general visual design of the costumes sucked ass.

As long as this guy knows his DC COMIC BOOK MYTHOLOGY, I'm good. I also hope that he allows his comic book directors to be creative and not neuter them, like Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.
