When the cast of The Dark Knight Rises were appearing on talk shows in July they couldn't really say much about the movie. Now that it's been out for a month, they're "off their leash" and talking about it a bit more freely. yeah! I agree. He is the Robin Gotham deserves. Without the mask. He doesn't need one to become the Robin in the comics. And at the end of the film he will don the cowl Bruce had left him. That's the way it is.

I always took it that he'd pick up the mantle of batman and carry on the legacy. I mean, they only hinted to it 20+ times in the trilogy that something like that would happen.
agreed, i'd expect jgl to be batman in (if there is) a justice league movie this way nolan's trilogy is left alone while still being acknowledged and john blake's character is free to develop

Last time i checked the cowl had bat ears so no, i can´t see him wearing it.
Anyway he may be called Robin but he would not turn his persona based on his own name, he would have to come up with a name that would relate to Batman somwhow and that name would be Nightwing.
Because making him a mix of personalities of Dick Grayson,Jason Todd e Tim Drake dont make him Robin... He have to put the elf slippers to be Robin. #facepalm

That's the beauty of it — he IS Nolan's Robin.
We didn't have a traditional dynamic duo because of how much it'd take away from Batman's dark, loner appeal. But during the course of this movie, Blake essentially represents that sidekick hero that Batman is often associated with. And in this interpretation, our "Robin" is actually mirroring the path of Batman — hunger for justice, disdain for guns, frustration with the existing constraints of law enforcement. So he's on his way to becoming the new Batman.
His story during TDKR is him being Robin and then moving onto taking over the mantle of the bat.

As interesting as the comments about TDKR were, the MOST interesting thing about that segment was the bit that the "muppeteers" stay in character even when they take their characters out of character. Crazy, but yes, awesome as well.
Well, i guess if Nolan style works in Man of Steel, they probably going to be the same style of 'Justice League' and foir all DC Universe Films. So, puting another Bruce Wayne trying emulate the Nolan style will be looking like a bad copy, so for now i think is better leave Robin with the cape & cowl. And think of the possibilities: Azrael,The Black Hand,Kobra,Anarky, Deathstroke, Blockbuster and other bat-villains. But if they want bring Bruce Wayne back, they need a radical change something like 'Batman INC' or 'BatSquad' level.What they cant do its just a batman movie without a deep reason in the story, or we will got a 'Pirrates of Carribean 4' type of films, what they made just to make money.Whatever will came, have to be a importance, a deep reason for connect us with the history.

So we know how it feels like beeing an actor and to be part of movies like Inception and now The Dark Knight Rises. There's no money involved in his sincerity so my best guess is he displays the true definition of happiness there I think!
And he's not a douche bag like Shia LeBouf. I see JGL as the anti Shia LeBouf.

It's really sad because, due to the shootings, the cast members are afraid to do interviews. And who can blame them? How can you do put on a smile and laugh when the largest mass shooting in US history happened during your movie? Not only would that be incredibly awkward, it would be extremely insensitive and draw criticism "How dare he laugh when others are mourning?"
I would really have liked to hear an interview of Mr. Nolan discussing the ending. But now that's never going to happen, since he's notoriously shy, and all these journalists bombarding him with questions about the shooting with which he had nothing to do with, has driven him back into his seclusion. :(

IN MY OPINION.. according the the DC universe of Batman, Nolan was smart to have John Blake's character a combination of the first three Robin characters in the comics. Like both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, he is a orphan who also suffered loss of both his parents at a young age. Blake is similar like Grayson, except as a young boy he would be the "Robin boy wonder" (Of course that wasn't part of the dark knight franchise) but as he grows up (which is already) he takes the name of "Nightwing" during night time and at daytime he's a police officer. He seems to be destined to take over the mantle of Batman. Much like Jason, when he's a angry young man that met Bruce near the latter's car, and like Tim Drake he discovers that Bruce Wayne is Batman on his own because of the angry facial expression he sees in both Bruce and Batman, of the tragic loss he also had with his parents.
He's name is Robin, it's a Nolan's interpretation of Robin, not Dick Grayson, Not Jason Todd, not Tim Drake, it's Eduard Blake, and it leaves the open cuestion of what kind of character he can be, maybe a battle for the cowl style of batman, or maybe just a character like nightwing, or maybe just a robin, that's the beauty of it, it can be whatever you want to believe.

He is Robin but not the way you envision in the comics. Let's not forget the single most important factor about the Dark Knight trilogy... THIS IS NOLAN'S INTERPRETATION OF THE BATMAN STORY. Nolan is a film director, and he takes creative freedoms to make slight adjustments for the sake of making a better movie that is more realistic and less comic and campy.
So in that sense, NO he is not Robin with the red vest and green undies. He is not Batman's little sidekick. But he is someone who is there to take the mantle after Bruce Wayne retired from Batman. Is Robin aka John Blake going to be the next Batman? That is left for interpretation, although the signal light at the end DID have a newly constructed "bat" signal on it.
Still, I would prefer to think that he would take the role of Nightwing instead.

He's not Robin. He's Batman. There was a Bat-Symbol made for Gordon at the end of the movie. Bruce Wayne lives a happy life with the woman he deserves (not to mention Selina Kyle gets to live a happy life with the man she deserves) just like Alfred wanted because he succeeded in making Batman a legend. On the one hand, the hero Batman lives on in the hearts of millions and now if the city ever needs him again, he lives on physically in "Robin". As Nolan did with every other character he adapted in his definitive Batman story, he captured the essence of Robin with a young man who acts as a side-kick but eventually takes up the mantle. THE LAST SHOT OF THE MOVIE IS THE DARK KNIGHT RISING!
I see MAYBE, in the future, them bring him in as Darkwing. I don't see another Batman & Robin flick comming... thank god!!
