Before the Dent act,our city was so desperate that we placed our trust behind a masked vigilante who ultimately murdered the man who was truly Gotham's shining hope.

Does anybody here have any extra anxiety pills I could use when I get to the theaters on July 20th?

A 2min version of the 13min featurette, the Bat and Batpod tour, and that's basically it.
We see Bruce doing curls, a suited guy with a mask drop out of a window, and more of Bane's voice. They could have just open the Batcave in June, it wasn't worth the wait, Mountain Dew trying to squeeze customers for easy cash...they only met 6% of their goal anyways.0 likes
The moment I read "The Bat cave opens either when who-cares-how-many Dew millions is purchased or on July 8", i knew it was just another corporate cash grab...

When I saw high fructose corn syrup as the main ingredient and that the gear they had was all in XL, it's simple math really. The people who were buying it up by the cart full had these butterball arms as big as a thigh, gross. They'll get amputated thanks to type 2 diabetes.

is it me or did Christian Bale re-find the batman voice that worked so well in Batman Begins and do away with the over the top growl he had in The Dark Knight?
Keep in mind the voice is altered in post-production so maybe they tweaked it.

also does anyone else think that scene of batman on the top of that building could be the final scene we see?
Nope. The press reviews said no part of any released trailer or tv spot showed the end of the movie, thank goodness. Some movies, all the best bits are on the trailer.

Looking back, I felt like a rug's been pulled right underneath me on the realization that the very FIRST shot shown on the 1st TDK trailer was actually the very LAST shot of that film...ingenious though, but still...

batman will not exist at the end of the movie. i can tell you that tfor sure
0 likes
I doubt it. Nolan has said there will be a clear ending. Batman still existing would leave the door open for a fourth film. I don't think Batman will die though. I think Bruce might come out as Batman, in which case the need for secret identity goes away.

You mean on top of that bridge post?

(If you mean the one at 2:24 mark) To be honest, I was wondering how did he get there in the first place. From The Bat? Elevator (if the building has one)? Or climb up?
...I can't imagine him climbing up like King Kong...0 likes

Christopher Nolan on Saturday's Hollywood Ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The cast of TDKR came out to support Nolan's honor as a celebrated contributor to film. Unlike the Hollywood star, this doesn't cost the honoree any annual fee.

I'm not gonna lie, I started to cry during that featurette. I have no idea why. I think it's just that I can't believe all of this is coming to an end. I just can't believe that in 12 days I will have already seen the film and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy will have been completed. I'm excited to see it and all, but somewhat sad that it's going to be all over. Haha, I feel bad for the director of the future reboot who's going to have to follow this! :')

It's interesting how Mountain Dew's Batcave looks nothing like what we will see in TDKR...

Nolan doesn't want people's first glimpse of the Batcave to be on a soda marketing website, but on an IMAX screen.

This is the exact same shit that's in the featurette, just cut down to 2mins.

Actually it isn't..
*** possible spoiler (to some) ***
After Bruce says....
"I'm not afraid, I'm angry"
The camera pans back a little and we see him "resume" his sit-ups.
It's not much, but it ties in the circumstances of the scene a little.
It also raises the question.."who is he talking to? Cat woman? Alfred, Blake? Or some random prisoner"
Interesting.

Nolan mentioned bringing the story full circle, Bruce is a prisoner at the start of Begins and is now a prisoner again with full beard in Rises. Did he already have the beard before going back to prison? Were gonna see...

I have a question guys, do you think that the digital IMAX is good enough?? I mean, I would like to watch the TDKR in Imax, but in my city there is only one digital imax cinema. But I'm not sure if the digital imax is worth it... What do you think???
If you ask me, it is "good enough". I mean, obviously it won't be as monumental as seeing it being shown on a true IMAX projector at 70mm. The major difference between the two is the sound. On a 70mm presentation of IMAX the audio is on a magnetic 6 layer track. Whereas digital presentation uses digital dubbing. It's not bad, by any means. Just not as "in your face". But, you asked if it was "good enough" and I'd say it totally is. But it can be even "gooder". :)

Thank you!! I really appreciate it, because I was very undecided. Sure I'm gonna see this movie several times, so one of them probably it's going to be in imax.

This film is going to impressive on a standard cinema screen - any IMAX is better so don't beat yourself up to much if you can't get to a film IMAX :)
I dare say very few people will really notice the difference, it will be subtle.

Yeah, nothing too special in this Mountain Dew Bat cave, I liked the video but other than that there wasn't much to see. A whole lot of hype for a whole lot of nothing for the most part. Still, I'll take anything I can get...with new trailers and TV spots mostly done, I need something to keep me entertained!

The only reason why I wouldn't rank these 3 Batman films as the "best trilogy of all time" is because of some continuity issues. The fact that the casting for a main character like Rachel Dawes changes (hugely, I might add, they could have gone with someone who at least looked a bit like her), the vast difference in scenery from BB to TDK (a more surreal and dark Gotham vs. an obvious filming in the city of Pittsburg) and the different "secret identity" voices Batman has gone through in each movie (they're laughable, IMO) is enough to take me out of the experience and separates each film.
Don't get wrong. These films are terrific. The important connecting factor has been done right - the screenplay, the script and the emotion. That alone makes this trilogy exceptional. I can't think of a better ensemble of movies, but because of those (albeit minor) continuity issues, this trilogy is not perfect in my books.

The voice and the scenery never bothered me. But I do get where you're coming from on Rachel Dawes. It also doesn't help that Katie Holmes was actually GOOD as the character, while Maggie Gyllenhaal was just terrible. Made the death of her character much less emotional than it would've been.

I know it's pretty harsh to admit, but I empathize less with someone who's ugly and doesn't convey emotion than someone who's good looking and does emote. Probably for the same reason you feel less compassion for a dog than a cute kid being hit my a car (Yup, I just compared Maggie to a dog).

To me, I definitely would rank it as the best trilogy of all time. About Rachel, I thought both actresses did a great job portraying the character. For Batman's voice, people don't realize that a lot of it comes from the cowl. When I wear my cowl, it alters your voice due to the pressure on your neck. Lastly, the scenery. Remember that most of Batman Begins takes place in the Narrows, while most of The Dark Knight takes place in the rest of Gotham. The only major scenery difference to me is the lack of the Wayne monorail system. But then again, it could easily be argued that the city removed it for various reasons.

I agree. Both Rachels did a great job portraying the character. I'm not discounting that. I do however, have a problem with the casting differences between Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal. They look and carry themselves entirely differently. I'm sure this casting dilemma was out of Nolan's hands (probably had something to do with Tom Cruise, his little penis and scientology, but we'll leave for another debate). Regarding Batman's voice, I'll ignore the fact that you wear a cowl (save you some embarrassment and I don't feel like being an asshole), but it is what it is. Some like his voice while others don't. You can't win them all. Regarding the scenery, I understand BB shot a lot of The Narrows but I felt as though that was a surreal location that Nolan and crew brought to life, whereas TDK looked more like a "While Vacationing In Pittsburg" reel.

yeah you better leave Tom Cruise out of that business. He is one the most talented actor of his generation. And if he decided to keep his wife out of batman because he can't stand the fact that she is kissing other actors (and maybe more) well it is his choice.
You're right. I'll admit he was one of the best actors of HIS time (by which I mean the 80's and early 90's). He was brilliant in Top Gun, Cocktail, Risky Business, Few and Far Away, A Few Good Men and Interview With A Vampire (remains to be one my favorite films, especially in this teenage metrosexual high school drama rampant tv and film industry). Tom Cruise is less than mediocre nowadays "must be allowed to die [out of the media industry]".

BB was filmed a lot on sets & also in Chicago, same with TDK, TDKR was the only film shot in Pittsburgh :) amazing movies, I feel as though every location really expressed the right emotion in these films, in TDKR I really enjoyed the winter factor, using the elements to express cold obviously & death, awesome

Since Batman already wears a mask, why bother with the different voices? It's okay when he uses 'the voice' with complete strangers, but when he uses it with Fox and Rachael who knows he is Batman...kinda weird.
In the scene, Bruce sits in the penthouse after Rachael dies, and Alfred tells him that he found the bandit by burning down the forest, Bruce doesn't use his 'voice' so it may be the cowl. If any hero should use the two voice system, it's Superman. What kind of a hero doesn't wear a mask? How does the Daily Planet print millions of photos of Superman and not notice their coworker looks the same but with glasses?

1. I don't see it as him simply putting on a mask. Once he puts on the mask he IS Batman, it's not Bruce Wayne in a Batman mask. It's much deeper than putting on a fake voice. It's a borderline split personality. That IS Batman's voice and when he's Batman, he's Batman 100%. If he didn't talk like that, it'd be Batman doing a Bruce Wayne impression.
2. Superman DOES wear a mask, it's name is Clark Kent.
They used to say that when Superman was out in public he would slightly shake his head back and forth in superspeed to blur his face. So his face would be slightly out of focus in pictures.

As lethargicj said Batman is a state of mind, when he puts on the mask he stops being Bruce Wayne. Not getting this is misunderstanding the entire Batman persona.

I don't know about anyone else, but to me 2 hours and 45 minutes will not seem like a LLLOOONNGG movie. It will do the story justice in the totality of the trilogy. I love movies, and when hollywood began recycling great movies and giving us crap and calling it filet-minion, I had lost my faith that I will ever enjoy another movie again. Thanx Chris Nolan for restoring my faith in great movie making/storytelling again. I too am saddened that this is the last movie... NNNOOOO!!!!!!!

It's too long if you ask me. If I'm watching it from home in the comfort of my own couch with the ability to pause it whenever I need to make a pee break, then I can handle a 3 hour film. If you ask me, it's too long to sit in a dark theater with a bunch of strangers munching their popcorn and slurping their drinks.

I thought the point of watching a movie in the THEATRE was to .... umm..... !!!!!!WATCH THE MOVIE!!!!!!, Not the people that are watching the movie. Don't get me wrong, for the people who like watching the movie in the comfort of their home. Movie studios created something called a DVD, BLU-RAY, Digital Copy of trhe movie, contracts with Netflix and cable co...TO WATCH THE " MOVIE" IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME. (UNDERWEAR OPTIONAL)

In TDK, Dent was able to put away hundreds of criminals that didn't post bail...middle level crooks. Mayor was able to run on an election with cleaner streets. In the wake of Dent Act, how much crime could there be left in those 8 years?
Maybe there was still crime, but Batman saw that it was too little for him to be involved, and that the police alone could handle it. He sort of by now, specializes in super-criminals, the one's that have a catchy name. The Nolan brothers must have dreamed up one hell of a Bane to not only bring Batman back, but force him out to fight in the daytime. In the comics, Bane was the undisputed ruler of the night after breaking Batman.Bane: "Your shadows [nighttime] betray you, because they belong to me!""Some people want to watch the world burn, I'm here to pull the pin on the grenade."0 likes
I'd just like to say that I am really sick of drinking Mountain Dew. Did they really have to make it so hard to get these points? 3 points for a 12 pack?

Many of the promo 2L were already unscrewed at the store. 5pts for a 24 pack=what a rip off. Then in the first week of the MD promo, someone got to 300 points, they didn't pay for that, must have stole the cups in boxes at a fast food joint. There's someone out there with like over 600 points just for the chance to win a signed script or Bane's mask, and if the person that won it only had 1pt, that would be hilarious.

Right now, the discussion at Warner Brothers is how to convince the public of a reboot, if in fact the legend ends, and what director is gullible enough to follow Nolan? Sounds like a set up to fail. Rumor has it, that Wally is leaving director of photography and maybe groomed to be a director in the next Batman movie with Nolan as a producer...either way, the origins story has been done to death.
