It seems like almost every day there's a new rumor about The Dark Knight Rises. I've always tried to report on rumors from reputable publications here at Batman-News.com, so you don't have to read about things that'll likely never happen. With the breaking news from earlier this week that actresses would be screen testing soon, an official casting announcement is right around the corner. In the mean time, I thought I'd draw your attention to all the official news we've received over the past year. A full timeline of The Dark Knight Rises news continues after the break.

The Dark Knight Rises: Official News Timeline

• April 30, 2010 - 'Batman 3' gets an official release date
• Warner Bros. announced that its next Batman movie will be released in theaters on July 20th, 2012.
• September 23, 2010 - Nolan confirms he’s still working on the 'Batman 3' script
• At a press conference in Rome for Inception, Christopher Nolan confirmed that his brother Jonathan has handed in a draft, and now he's adding to it.

• September 29, 2010 - Christopher Nolan confirms he’s directing 'Batman 3'
• In an interview with Empire, Christopher Nolan confirmed what we all assumed for so long, he'll be back to direct the next Batman movie.
• October 13, 2010 - Tom Hardy joins 'Batman 3' cast
• Deadline breaks the news that Tom Hardy has been cast in in Batman 3. Hardy stated that even he is "not sure" which role he's playing.
• October 27, 2010 - 'Batman 3' officially titled ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, won’t include The Riddler
• In an exclusive interview with Hero Complex, Christopher revealed the official title of his next movie is The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan also put The Riddler rumors to rest, confirming that the character will not show up. Finally, Nolan announces that his final trip to Gotham will not be shot in 3D.
• October 28, 2010 - Hans Zimmer to meet with Nolan to discuss ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ score
• Composer Hans Zimmer confirmed that he'd be meeting with Christopher Nolan to go over some ideas for The Dark Knight Rises score.
• November 30, 2010 - Nolan excited to end his Batman saga with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
• In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christopher Nolan called The Dark Knight Rises “the last chapter of our Batman saga”. Hinting that this will be his last Batman movie.

• December 1, 2010 - Nolan still working on script/casting, debunks CGI Joker rumor, confirms Hardy
• At a DVD/Blu-ray release party for Inception, director Christopher Nolan confirmed that he's still working on the script and hasn't finished casting. He also said there was no truth to the rumors that he'd be bringing back The Joker via CGI.
• December 3, 2010 - Eckhart confirms no Two-Face in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
• Aaron Eckhart confirmed that Two-Face will not be showing up in The Dark Knight Rises. Eckhart talked about a meeting he had with Christopher Nolan on the beach and said that The Dark Knight Rises is going to "blow everybody away."
• December 4, 2010 - ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ script is due Monday
• Christopher Nolan told David Cohen of Variety that he has to hand in The Dark Knight Rises script to Warner Bros. on December 6th.
• December 14, 2010 - Christopher Nolan is scouting locations in Asia for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
• Hero Complex confirms that Christopher Nolan is on a worldwide tour searching for locations for The Dark Knight Rises. He was confirmed to be in Asia, more specifically, India.
• December 22, 2010 - VP of IMAX talks ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
• Collider posted a great interview with Executive Vice-President of IMAX, David Keighley. He confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises will have more scenes in IMAX than The Dark Knight did. He explained he had about 5 meetings with Christopher Nolan and The Dark Knight may be re-released in IMAX as part of a double feature.

• December 30, 2010 - Warner Bros. confirms LA, the UK, and more for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
• Ravi Mehta, the SVP of Production at Warner Bros. told Scene Magazine that The Dark Knight Rises would be shooting in Los Angeles, the UK, and an unnamed city.

• January 07, 2011 - Christopher Nolan discusses ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and 3D
• In an interview with Deadline, Christopher Nolan confirmed once again that The Dark Knight Rises will not be shot in 3D, and explains why.
