14 on Birds of Prey #2 reviewOnce the team is assembled we get treated to their teamwork, their internal struggles and the plot progresses at a breakneck pace without skipping a beat! A true treat to read as the Birds of Prey make their way to Themyscira, home of the Amazons. I don’t regret being so hesitant in my first review…
I’m going to be making a small change in how I review these comics, because, honestly, I’ve been holding back. I’ve been trying to compromise with these Harley Quinn comics with the hopes of just getting something that isn’t complete gobbledygook. I didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes, and I held back on some…
Oh my god! We’re almost done! This mini-series just keeps getting worse and this is by far its least interesting issue. I wouldn’t even recommend this to kids anymore. Libraries, jump out while you still can!Stories like these are exactly why I gave the first Birds of Prey issue a 6/10. DC has burnt me…
Oh man am I excited to see where this story goes! Birds of Prey is a thrilling comic with lots of cool characters gearing up to rescue Dinah’s sister Sin and possibly everyone in the universe as the stakes increase at the last second.I love the team dynamic Kelly Thompson introduces once most of the…
Actress and comedian Arleen Sorkin has passed away. Sorkin began her career as a part of various comedy troupes before finding work on television, notably as Calliope Jones on the long-running daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. In addition to acting, she wrote for series such as Tiny Toon Adventures, and was co-host of…
At long last! The final chapter of Dark Knights Of Steel comes to a striking end. For twelve harrowing issues, the three kingdoms of the realm have gone to war because of a long standing lie. With Protex's evil influence out in the open, the kingdoms have finally turned their war in the right direction.…
This will be my last review for the Harley Quinn ongoing for a while. I’ve been needing to take a little step back from comic reviewing to work on other projects. Therefore, I will be dropping Joker (yay). I will also be reviewing this Harley Quinn book every 6 months in trade paperback. Meanwhile, I…
Knight Terrors: Nightwing #2 is an improvement over last month’s issue, but cannot fully break free of its overwhelming feeling of irrelevance. No new ideas are presented as Becky Cloonan’s and Michael W. Conrad’s script instead favors embracing a wackier atmosphere instead of doubling down on the more grim psychoanalysis of the previous script. With…
During my time reviewing at Batman News, I’ve given most comics scores of about 6 or lower. That’s because, quite simply, I don’t think most comics released today even manage to be of average quality. I’m especially harsh on Harley comics. The problems DC has with writing her character run very deep and seem to…
It is with great joy and gladness that I write this final review. I am finishing the terrible mini-series: Harley Quinn Screws Up the DCU. I’ve reviewed individual bad comics before, but this is the first time I’ve reviewed an entire series that is this bad. I gave 0.5/10’s to most of the issues. Does…
Harley Quinn is back at Arkham and the star of The Arkham Asylum Files: Panic In Gotham City mixed reality tabletop game! Luckily, Batman-News had the chance to play and review the game back in June, but got the opportunity to visit panels, conduct interviews, and witness live demos at San Diego Comic-Con. Down The…
Well, I read one good issue of Knight Terrors. I read another one that sounded good but failed in its execution. Now I can say I’ve read one that falls apart in every way possible. So, Harley Quinn Has No Fears, You Say? This comic starts with Harley having a dream about being back in…
What’s this? Another Harley Quinn book? I guess DC will just never get the message that the character is too over-exposed in comics. This is her third series running this month, with absolutely no good sales data to back it up! The first Black, White, and Red series actually provided some of the better stories…
I have two pieces of good news. The first piece is that this is the second to the last issue of this truly terrible series. The other bit of good news is that this issue isn't nearly as bad as the last two. It’s still pretty bad though. EVERY CHARACTER IS AWFUL! Obviously, this issue…
During this week's Anime Expo 2023, Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio unveil their new Suicide Squad based anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai. The story follows Batman foes Harley Quinn, The Joker, and other DC villains as they find themselves in a "violent fantasy world." Of course, the word "Isekai" itself refers to the…
Tini Howard’s Harley Quinn run is…mediocre. I've read Harley Screws Up the DCU, so Tini's writing of Harley is almost refreshing in a sense. This issue in particular is probably the most decent I’ve read so far. That's mainly because it’s just mostly innocent dialogue between characters setting up where the story is at now…
You’re not going to believe me, but before I read this comic, I was seriously considering whether or not I was being too hard on this series. That was before I read this comic. This comic made me sick to my stomach. It made not want to have to write this review because that would…
Dark Knights of Steel readies itself for the final phase of the story. As Protex conspires to destroy the El Kingdom once and for all, the heroes plan out all their necessary defensive measures. Although there is only one more issue to go, the penultimate chapter shows a a surprising amount of restraint. In fact,…
DC Comics is back to kick start pride month with DC Pride: 2023 #1, which follows the same format as the last two years with several short stories featuring some of DC's most prevalent LGBTQIA+ characters. Before reading the stories, I urge everyone to read Phil Jimenez’s foreword which is exceptionally well done and reminds…
It’s another month and another Harley Quinn issue. Does this one prove that Tini Howard actually has what it takes to reinvigorate this character in comics again? Well, not exactly. Years of Forgettable Content I want to reiterate, this issue is far from the worst I’ve seen for Harley. However, recently I was working on…
