1 on Harley Quinn #41 ReviewIn the ongoing game of costumed heroes and villains, most people live double lives, carefully balancing crucial information and protecting secret identities. Harley Quinn is not most people. So if the GCPD thinks they can force her to keep their secrets, they have another thing coming. Quit Buggin’ Me! This month’s Harley Quinn issue sees…
Dreamer has been captured by Task Force X, and they are on their way to deliver her to Amanda Waller, as she has plans for the dream-walking heroine. Will the Squad see that they are on the wrong side of this fight and back up Dreamer? Or is there nothing stopping Amanda Waller from achieving…
In preparation for the final issue of Kill Arkham Asylum, I got familiar with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. With one final member of the team left to go, let's take a look at how the stories intersect. This time, we saddle up with Nanue, The King Shark! A Small Pond Although King Shark…
Last month, I called the 2024 annual the Harley Quinn Book of the Year. Though that excellent outing was the product of a guest creative team, this reviewer has strong hopes that editorial can build on that momentum. We open with Harley meeting up once again with Mr. Freeze to discuss his ongoing offers for…
Dreamer has gone AWOL, and the reorganized Task Force X has a new objective: capture her alive by any means necessary and bring her back to Waller. Waller obviously has ulterior motives that could threaten the future of the whole planet. But in her mind, she is doing the right thing. This penultimate issue of…
After 13 years, the Gotham City Sirens are back! For a little while, that is at least. The original Gotham City Sirens was created by Paul Dini in 2009 and quickly became a cult classic, though ended when DC's titles were rebooted in 2011 with the New 52. Now, this August, the ongoing comics of Harley…
I wish I could say I’m a sucker for a cruise ship mystery. It’s just that I can’t think of any. Luckily, writer/artist Erica Henderson is here to set sail on an absolute winner of an annual for Harls. This vacation adventure begins with Harley, after scoring big on a robbery that she wishes had…
When last we left the fantabulous Miss Harley Quinn, she was torn. Torn between a straight-and-narrow life of quasi-marital bliss with Ivy and a life of adventuring with some of Gotham’s less domesticated criminal element. It felt like both this title and the character were at a bit of a crossroads. Leave it to a…
The new Squad has been assembled and tasked with infiltrating the island nation of Gamorra to stop some insurgents from taking over the island’s weapons and defense systems. But not all is what it seems as Amanda Waller obviously has an ulterior motive, and Nia Nal, a.k.a. Dreamer, is caught in Waller’s warpath. Does the…
The "Harley Show" has begun! The official tie-in to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League continues with Harley Quinn's wacky escape from Arkham Asylum. Unsurprisingly, as a staple recurring character in the Arkhamverse games and comics, Harley Quinn makes herself at home regardless. Lets take a look! Where's Waldo When expectations are low, it's easy…
Harley Quinn #38 begins by giving us a day in the life of Professor Harleen Quinzel, living in romantic bliss with Poison Ivy and gleefully holding down a steady teaching job at Gotham Community College. It’s the type of quotidian, slice-of-life montage that passes by almost too rosily, leaving us to wonder when the other…
The creative team of writer Nicole Maines, penciler Eddy Barrows, inker Eber Ferreira, and colorist Adriano Lucas come together to bring to life a new iteration of Task Force X who go on a new mission that spins off from the Titans: Beast World storyline. For this new ongoing series, the hero Dreamer is the central…
Nobody asked for this, but Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum continues its prequel storyline. In this issue, an unexpected prison break causes Arkham's prisoners to take revenge on the Arkham guards. Now, Deadshot needs to team up with the other deadliest assassin in the asylum to make his escape. Lets talk about it! A Sadist…
Sin got possessed just as the Birds thought they were close to saving her. Now they have to figure out who it is they're actually saving: the monster, the girl or both? In the conclusion to the first arc of Kelly Thompson's Birds of Prey, the new team has to make some difficult decisions as…
Keeping the synergy between DC television, film, and games, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League releases a prequel tie-in comic. Set after the Arkham Asylum trilogy, and before the events of the game, Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum softly introduces the new status quo. Let's take a look! Is This What We've Been Waiting For?…
This is it - my final review for Batman News (at least for now). I may, however, be doing an op-ed finalizing my thoughts on DC’s treatment of Harley Quinn. I love this character to death, at least the way she was supposed to be written. However, despite tanking sales and reader disinterest all around,…
Diana rushes to the island with her golden lasso in hand. She's ready to get down to business and find out why the Birds of Prey are invading her island. The stars of the show are scattered across the island with their mission about to go terribly wrong in this new exciting issue of Birds…
Our crew journeys further into the land of the Amazons in order to retrieve Sin as discreetly as possible. The plan being set up since the first issue has really kicked up a notch as our heroines advance into this thrilling and dangerous land! My excitement at the third issue in this series is matched…
A little over a year ago I declared Mondo's Joker 1/6 scale figure to be their most expressive yet. Well, a challenger to that title has emerged with the latest addition to the Batman: The Animated Series line... Harley Quinn. Bruce Timm's iconic, original design of the late, great Arleen Sorkin's character is beautifully adapted…
By now, we’ve gotten a good look at the kind of sales estimates this series has received…and it’s not good. This book has been floundering, unable to stay anywhere near the top 100 comics. Unfortunately, this was expected. None of the Harley Quinn-led books have been selling well. This is the third Harley Quinn mini-series…
