Birds of Prey (comic)
·
4 on Birds of Prey #22 reviewBig Barda has been taken hostage and could possibly be the Birds of Prey’s newest enemy. The heroines left in the team are trying to retrace Barda’s steps and figure out how to rescue her but they’re in for a rough surprise! So I made the mistake of looking at the viewer statistics of these…
We’re at part two of On the Run and each member of the team is dealing with boat loads of stress. The fragmented stories are impressively in sync and we have lots of action to boot. Now the villains leave a lot to be desired but let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Kelly Thompson has…
A new story unfolds as we creep into a building with Cassandra Cain. So many bits of information to follow, separating our team and scattering them across the four corners of the planet. Each recon mission is written about in parallel so Kelly Thompson has to not just handle one new story but five! Let’s…
We’re here at the tail end of Divide & Conquer which only had two parts but still managed to be a really enjoyable read! I’ve criticized Kelly Thompson for being much weaker at these shorter stories but this is definitely an exception! So while our super heroines are split apart and finishing their battles we…
Cassandra Cain has infiltrated the underground schemings of your most gentrifying hipster looking cult with… mixed results. The rest of her team are unsure of her whereabouts and a mouthful of knockout gas has our small bat waking up in unfamiliar cages surrounded by Amazon warriors being exploited for… reasons? Will Cass find out what’s…
Edit: It has been brought to my attention that Jordie Bellaire goes by she/her. I should've been aware of that and I apologize for the error. I will edit my previous reviews of Birds of Prey to reflect this. Especially given how male dominated the field of comic artists is, it is extra egregious to…
Sorry I’ve been missing out on a couple reviews here and there! My life is about as much of a mess as the writing in these past two issues of Birds of Prey. The second half of this fashion adventure fails to weave together a satisfying story. Everything feels rushed and unfunny with even the…
Sin got possessed just as the Birds thought they were close to saving her. Now they have to figure out who it is they're actually saving: the monster, the girl or both? In the conclusion to the first arc of Kelly Thompson's Birds of Prey, the new team has to make some difficult decisions as…
Diana rushes to the island with her golden lasso in hand. She's ready to get down to business and find out why the Birds of Prey are invading her island. The stars of the show are scattered across the island with their mission about to go terribly wrong in this new exciting issue of Birds…
Our crew journeys further into the land of the Amazons in order to retrieve Sin as discreetly as possible. The plan being set up since the first issue has really kicked up a notch as our heroines advance into this thrilling and dangerous land! My excitement at the third issue in this series is matched…
Once the team is assembled we get treated to their teamwork, their internal struggles and the plot progresses at a breakneck pace without skipping a beat! A true treat to read as the Birds of Prey make their way to Themyscira, home of the Amazons. I don’t regret being so hesitant in my first review…
Oh man am I excited to see where this story goes! Birds of Prey is a thrilling comic with lots of cool characters gearing up to rescue Dinah’s sister Sin and possibly everyone in the universe as the stakes increase at the last second.I love the team dynamic Kelly Thompson introduces once most of the…
On Monday, June 5th, writer Kelly Thompson took to Twitter to announce that she would be writing a new Birds of Prey series for DC Comics, releasing in September. The artwork will be done by artist Leonardo Romero, who revealed a first look at Black Canary, the new leader of the team. An all-new era…
It's the eve of San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and DC doesn't appear to be letting up with the announcements. On Tuesday a new Batman story from Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch was announced. Wednesday brings us news that the Birds of Prey are saddling up for a new series from Emanuela Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy. The…
I've been waiting for these three heroines to come back together ever since Birds of Prey was first announced for the New 52. There's just something about Babs, Dinah, and Helena that work so well together, and it feels even better considering Barbara is Batgirl, and that Helena has a high-ranking history with Spyral. It…
