At the ComicsPro Expo back in February, it was reported that a new crossover between DC and Marvel comics would be released later on in the year. While no details were available at the time, it has now been revealed that the crossover will take the form of Batman/Deadpool and Deadpool/Batman, releasing in November and September 2025, respectively.

Over on DC's side, Batman/Deadpool will be written by seasoned Batman writer Grant Morrison (Batman, A Serious House on a Serious Earth, X-Men) and illustrated by Dan Mora (Batman/Superman: World's Finest, Superman, Justice League Unlimited). However, they will not be the only creative teams working on the book. The issue also promises a selection of backup stories showing team-ups of characters from both sides. The casts of these stories and the creatives working on them have not yet been revealed.

According to an article by Entertainment Weekly, the Marvel side of the event, Deadpool/Batman, is being penned by Zeb Wells (The Amazing Spider-Man, New Mutants), with the art being provided by Greg Capullo (Batman, Wolverine: Revenge). Like the other, this book will also feature backup stories, with the cast and team to be revealed later on.

Burbank, CA—May 27, 2025 — Announced earlier today, in an unprecedented collaboration between DC Comics and Marvel Comics, Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the two highly anticipated DC/Marvel crossover comic books coming to local comic shops in 2025 are Batman/Deadpool #1 (published by DC Comics in November) and Deadpool/Batman #1 (published by Marvel Comics in September). These two crossover one-shots between DC and Marvel have been more than twenty years in the making and are part of a larger collaboration program between the companies—a crossover program like the comic book industry has never seen!

 

Batman/Deadpool #1 will feature a lead story written by legendary scribe Grant Morrison and brought to life through the stunning artwork of Dan Mora. Beyond the main event, Batman/Deadpool #1 will feature an exciting lineup of backup stories, each showcasing dynamic matchups between beloved characters from both universes. Details on these thrilling tales and their creative teams will be coming soon.

 

This landmark crossover marks the first major collaboration between DC and Marvel in decades—bringing together Gotham’s Dark Knight Detective and the Marvel’s Deadpool in an explosive adventure that fans never expected but always dreamed of.

 

“I don't want to share too much, but it is just a very creative story in the best sense, in terms of what Grant Morrison is known for,” said DC President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. “Dan Mora, of course, is just killing it right now. He is one of our perennial visionaries, I think, for the DC Universe. His style is just so dynamic, but also very clean and classic. In many ways it's sort of a fusion of Curt Swan, and maybe Gil Kane. When I see a Dan Mora piece, to me that really like sums up where the DC Universe is at right now. I think pairing both Grant and Dan, it was just the perfect choice to bring the story to life. And obviously, you know, Grant, has had seminal runs on both the X-Men and Batman. You know he knows these universes. He knows what makes these characters tick, and he distills it down in a way that is both enlightening and creative and fun. I'm just excited for fans to be able to read his and Dan's take on this unique crossover.”
