Robert Pattinson hopes The Batman sequel will film soon

Robert Pattinson is hopeful that he begins filming The Batman sequel soon as he doesn't want to be "old Batman."

Speaking with Mickey 17 costar Naomi Ackie in Hero magazine, Robert Pattinson expressed his hopes The Batman sequel would film soon. "I f****** hope so. I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f****** old Batman by the sequel."

Pattinson clarified he is currently 38 years old.

The actor has received a lot of questions as of late as he has been out on the publicity circuit. On the Red Carpet for the film, he shared some thoughts on the script, saying, "I know what it's about now. Matt is a very careful writer, but I finally now know what it's about. It's very cool. I'm very excited."

This echoes other comments he made to Deadline at the same event where he also confirmed the film would film this year, acknowledging, "it’s a while…everything feels so long ago because COVID just erased three years."

Asked if he could reveal anything about the plot, the actor said he couldn't, but "it’s cool, though, it’s cool."

The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $765.95 million dollars globally. The franchise received an interim expansion with the release of The Penguin – an original series with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oz Cobb from the first film – on Max.

The untitled The Batman sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.

Well, he's quite right though, the sequel is taking ages. I just hope the wait is worth in the end

  I'm totally convinced, even if I don't like the idea, that this saga will only have two movies. Too much time between the sequels, and Gunn's DCU is gonna predate it

    I'm pretty disconnected from the fandom these days, save for this site. Is there even any hype or anticipation for Gunn's DCU? Seems quiet on that front on 'X'.
    If I had to guess, I'd guess that the prospects of continuing Matt Reeves' Batman series is a function of whether or not Superman is the success WBD and DC Studios wants it to be.

      Seems like a decent amount of hype to me. The Superman trailer did really well. In terms of Batman specifically, lately there has been some real pushback against the whole "grounded realistic" version of the character after seeing similar takes from Nolan, Philips, and now Reeves, and I see quite a bit of anticipation for BatB from certain circles because of this. Speculation after the most recent DCU update is that Gunn himself is writing that movie now though. So ya, a lot seems to seriously hinge on how well Superman does.

      Except from the talk that has gathered around The Penguin, I don't see too much being said about this universe either in other places around the net (although I admit this site is still my preferred choice even if it isn't the grand place it once was).
      And yeah, if Superman doesn't make what they hope, they will play the Batman card for sure

      my bad, I slipped there! I'm not very sure about how to answer, because the hype I've seen being push onward has been a tad artificial to me, like, people chanting about how good it looks but I only see things that got MoS critisized in the first place...
      Add to that that I don't see too much talk about the DCU as a universe, it'a like people only know the Superman one and that's it

      It wouldn't be the first time a movie made money without me noticing the hype for it, and maybe it's too early for the marketing to kick in gear. But for the more recent billion dollar movies it seemed like the Internet was buzzing about them for a long time before they released. Even with Wicked, which didn't earn $1B, I had no interest in it but everyone was talking about it for months and months pre-release.
      Seems like for Superman, it gets a 48-hr cycle every time something new is shown, and then it goes quiet, kinda like what happened with this new Captain America movie that underperformed. Granted, the MCU doesn't have the DCU's novelty at this point, so maybe that's just fatigue, but it feels like the culture might be shifting back towards non-superhero blockbusters (with exceptions like Deadpool & Wolverine; a horrible movie, IMHO). I'm all for that, I'd like to see fewer of these movies in theaters and for studios to have the ones they do make just be more 'essential'.

      You're right. Sometimes a movie goes unnoticed and then it breaks the box office, but for a movie like this one, the internet should be talking about it 24/7, but it isn't happening! Once the novelty about the trailer passed, there was no more interest on it. I mean, it got so many views the first 24 hours, but then it stopped and didn't even reach the views of other movies like BvS, Suicide Squad or The Batman.
      The new Captain America movie is a good example, although take into account that the protagonist was not the Captain everybody loved back then, it's logical that it has happened and, as you say, the MCU is in crumbles for a few years now and only when there's something truly exceptional (I'm saying exceptional, doesn't mean it has to be good) then you have a moneymaker like Deadpool 3. However, in this case, I'd say it was more because of Jackman's return more than because of the movie itself (I liked it, but because it just accomplished its goal, not because it was a masterpiece). The same happened to Spiderman No Way Home.

    I guess it just depends on whether they are truly committed to letting multiple iterations of the same character occur on the big screen simultaneously via the Elseworlds label. I've always felt that if any character could make that work, it's Batman. It will also depend on how well the sequel does of course. Peter Safran in the recent DCU update did mention "The Batman trilogy" which some are taking as a good sign. Gunn has consistently been supportive of Reeves. So its really hard to say right now. I don't mind waiting for these movies, and I don't think Pattinson will "age out" like some keep insisting. He will be 39 when they film Part 2, but looks youthful and healthy so its kind of irrelevant to me. Not much different than seeing actors in their late 20s/early 30s playing teenagers. If there is another 4-5 year gap for Part 3, then sure maybe a bigger time jump could be necessary at that point.

  Hopefully they're committed one way or the other before they start filming and don't set up sequels that never happen. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a self-contained storyline for the second even if there is going to be a "Part 3".

can they stop teasing us. ONCE AGAIN. ether the hero is still too expensive or someone or a group. are hired under DC. while having marvel intensions. so, this is their way of sabotaging the idea of a movie being made. 2 the media tabloid titles are continuing the same story even from part 1. which is it " KEEPS GETTING PUSHED BACK". cause underlined they don't want to make it. it's too hard. 3. batman and BATMAN ALONE, IS A HIGHLY SOPHISTICAED WORLD WITH ACTION AND MYSTERY. sooooo i can understand if grounded or not. Batman is a pretty hard character to deliver. and it seems only CHISTOPHER NOLAN. understands this. so with Gunn on the helm of our new bat. its going to SCREAM BATMAN IN DISNEY!! so even if you thought the 90s movie version were bad, ha. i can't wait to see his theatrics with CGI. and a teenage kid with attitude antics (ROBIN). but anyway. as far as the BATMAN 2. i honestly don't think we are going to get it. plus, even if we do. that will be the last in that series. even though the show is great. (penguin). and if ZOE isn't going to return. don't Suprise us JUST TELL US. even though they want to hate on her so much. cause she didn't do enough. but nobody can't ignore or should deny that THE GIRL GOT THE YEAR ONE LOOK DOWN PACKED. so, let's physically use her and Pattinson. more than one fight scene. I MEAN!!! DAMN, WATCH THE ANIMATION INTRO CHASE SCENE IN HUSH. I MEAN CAN WE GET THAT IN A MOVIE. i mean is anybody thinking like that, ... i mean. batman, catwoman. THE MATRIX START SCENE. mix it all together. WE could get some serious great MOVIE TREATMENTS. just imagine that MATRIX FIRST SCENE WITH TRINITY RUNNING. NOW IMAGINE IT WAS BATMAN CHASING HER. but they get lost IN IDK WHAT? cause it's pretty simple. but we mess things up, as in that one BAD CGI MOMENT IN "THE BATMAN". the part when he jumps off the building and uses his wing suit. i mean. the start of it was good. but hitting a train station midair. and then ground. with no cape. and just walk away......WTF. NAH. ITS STUFF LIKE THAT. ew. i can't stand. aka CGI SABOTAGE. i mean we couldn't edit that better?. i would rather him landing on a car. so overall part 2. eh no hope. 3. catwoman isn't returning nor do they know how to properly us her. and it's not ZOES FAULT. I blame men not wanting to use strong women fully. 4. CAN WE EVER GET A REAL GROUNDED BATMAN & CATWOMAN CHASE SCENE. just Sayen for part 2. if made. would be a great opener!!!
BUT OVERALL. just make part 2 and possibly 3. like the crow, mixed with the matrix. with batman quality. GIVE US ACTION!!!! FIGHTS!!!!!!!!! MORE THEN 1-2. YOU HAVE THE BAT N THE CAT FOR GOD SAKE. LET'S BE DARKLY DRAMATIC!... I'm sorry. but I JUST LOVE BATMAN. SO, STOP MESSING UP. and thank you Scott Synder. for keeping dark so lively. you should be on the side producing movie treatment scenes for advice. but enough of my random batman rant. ..owe p.s THE BATMAN VR GAME. really?! don't get me started on this mess. so, ROCKSTEADY CAN WE GET THE REAL DEAL. no VR. and somehow, can you guys help the movies with its styling of the GOTHAM WORLD. you're the best at it. they just be hinting. bye
