DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has clarified how the family animated shows fit in with the DCU.

In a recent update on the state of the DC Universe, three new animated series were announced: Starfire, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and Super Powers. With series such as Creature Commandos being a part of the DCU, this has led to some asking whether or not the new shows would also be included. DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has now cleared that up.

Gunn was asked on social media whether Starfire was in the DCU or an Elseworlds story. He replied, "Starfire is Elseworlds, as are most our [sic] family animated shows."

It definitely should be noted how he said 'most,' so we may yet see some family animated series in the DCU.

To recap on the three new animated series, their descriptions follow.

My Adventures with Green Lantern will follow Jessica Cruz, a high school student who has a Green Lantern ring drop into her life. Jake Wyatt and Stephanie Gonzaga will serve as executive producers.

Starfire will follow the famous Teen Titan in the first days after she leaves Tamaran and ventures across space. There she will meet up with a space biker named Crush, a plant lover named Fern, Princess Amethyst of Gemworld. Josie Campbell and Brianne Drouhard will serve as executive producers on the series.

Super Powers will be set at the Alliance School for Heroes and will focus on the new students: Aquagirl, Flash, Green Lantern, Lightning, Plastic Man, and Terra as they learn everything they need to know from Principal Martian Manhunter. Matt Beans will executive produce, and Michael Chang will serve as supervising producer.

No release dates have been announced as of yet for the three new series.
